Cherries and raspberries play counterpoint to leather, old books, spice and smoke. It is complex and long and it shimmers with elegance and energy. |

8/31/2015 - geeky? not sure wrote: NRA lot of brett at first, but this blew off and integrated after about an hour. Generally exceeded expectations. Tasted and smelled distinctly of Cote Rotie and not only "old wine". Roses on the nose, nice acidity. Held up over night in the decanter, though lost a little something. |

Focused with crisp acid balance, herbal and smokey elements echo on palate. Slightly metallic - lead and pencil shavings. Intense and lean mid-palate. Tannic finish - albeit refined. This is old school Cote Rotie - dry, balanced and slightly floral, yet not lacking in intensity. This bottle was much less evolved than one drunk two years ago. A bottle in this condition could last another 10 years - although I will never find out... |

In the mouth fully resolved with a medium body - very nice intensity with noticeable acid.. A good wine. After decanting and about an hour of aeration the wine developed really well - becoming richer in the mouth with lovely savory notes redolent of thyme. The wine is elegant and I would have to say that I think the wine will hold for a few more years. Excellent with roast lamb! |
