Drunk with cheeses. 16.5%. Very dark ruby. Nose of raisins and roasted fig with black cherries and some spices added on the palate. Tannins still evident and plenty of acidity make it very well balanced and easy to drink. A bit of sweetness from the alcohol is evident. While obviously rich, it is not quite as heavy a wine as port can be but I couldn't drink more than a couple of glasses of it. More porty and less elegant than the Quintarelli (see below 9/5/21) but still a very impressive wine. Overall a very robust amarone.

Undiminished after 3 weeks in opened bottle - might last forever!

Final glass from bottle 5 months later (2/10/2023) - still absolutely amazing - more prunes and black cherry now. The sweetness just coming through more strongly than the acidity. No oxidised or tired notes - very much still alive. Quite port-like. This is an amazing wine - fantastic wine making! It will last forever - (well, at least 50 years)!!

Brought to our CWG by Joel. Clear translucent color, minimal briks, long and thick legs sowing the high alcohol content, very complex and nice finish. This was tasted blind and I said Amarone 2008, my brother said old Zinfandel. We all enjoyed it as it felt like a desert wine after all the previous big boys!

No detailed notes taken but enjoyed this wine. Extremely concentrated, and complex with a tobacco note just starting to emerge. Long finish, good acidity and a little bit of heat on the end. I would say this has many years of great drinking ahead and if I had more I would hold a couple more years but certainly in a great spot now.

For my tastes while impressive this is a bottle to share with a group as the intensity brings a bit of heaviness that made me not want to have a second glass.

Yum, figs, toffee, chocolate but bot overly sweet(barely). In a great drinking window not sure how long it lasts. I am a sucker for this wine since i first tasted it so take my opinion with a grain of salt!!!

Decanted for 2h at Vedge. This was our last wine of the evening, lots of spice cinnamon and cedar on the nose and palate. Beautiful, mature, and my last bottle.

Decanted at 1862 restaurant. Consistent with my previous notes, lots of raisin and bright, almost sweet cherries and berries on the palate. Great pairing with duck.

Pre-Birthday drive in the Willamette Valley: This wine pours like the specific gravity of bromine... amazingly thick and impenetrably black in color. Aromas are also quite dark, yes, showing some alcohol, but also figs, raisins, liquid tar. Palate is richly and seductively textured, showing really hefty dried fig skins, some charred earth, slight spice, and a grape flavored bubble gum note. Alcohol is noted here too, but less than elsewhere. Finish hits initially with a burn of alcohol and darkly complected fruit, including plum skins. There's also more tar and spice here, with nice red apple skins lingering. The alcoholic burn does dissipate leaving more pleasant flavors after a few minutes. Unsure what to think here... I loved this wine when I opened my first bottle six years ago. Perhaps I'm agreeing with Galloni's comment that these wines need to be drunk on their younger side? This wine certainly doesn't have the depth or richness of the prior bottle. Too bad I waited so long to crack into the others.

Holiday party at 1862 restaurant. Decanted for 2h. Consistent with my previous appreciative notes dating from April 2014. Lots of candied fruit, fig, and spice. Not the optimal pairing with my sirloin. It was outshone by a 2000 Barolo also on the table. Still in its drinking window.

Fantastic with Easter lamb, the spicy sweet complexity of the wine was a great complement to the mint and cilantro marinade.

Opened at Thanksgiving, tasted over a period of 2h. Strong alcoholic nose, on the palate bursting with spice, fruit - a combination of plums and faint prunes. Long lingering finish. A hint of sweetness, no tannins in sight! With the flavor profile almost like a fine aged port. Perhaps my only regret was pairing this with roasted turkey, the wine did not have enough acid to show its best, I feel. It competed with, rather than enhanced the food. Probably would have been better earlier with the appetizers, instead of the '00 Barolo. My bad.

Not sure if this wine has totally closed down or if the bottle was off...inexpressive, bland and boring. Could have been shipping shock, as I traveled with it 2 days before opening. Also drier than I recall from prior bottles. (Previously it was an almost sweet-style of Amarone). Will try this again soon and update this score if this was just an off bottle.

Taste at Elysian. Deep ruby color with hints of purple at the rim. Not opaque though - surprising.
Nose screams Amarone, but not overdone. Less so black fruit than dark spicy red berries and stone fruit - raspberries, strawberries and black cherry cola.
A fine dose of anise, black rock, black pepper and raisinated fruit. Well polished spicy wine.
Some roasted red pepper action on the palate with a unique cinnamon quality. Really a lovely wine that has a long life ahead. Awesome and unique Amarone that isn't black or too big. Balanced and feminine styling.

Opened and decanted for a while before tasting (unknown time). Deep dark ruby to almost purple. Huge, thick wine with outstanding structure. More off-dry than dry... sweet ripe raisins, stewed dark fruit, vanilla oakiness. Let this age a bit more.

Spectacular, pitch-perfect very primary and rich Amarone. The wine's current youthfulness and lack of development could be restraining my score...Really dense, rich and silky textured.

Intense sweet nose of dried fruits, cassis, chocolate, almond, purple flowers, pipe tobacco, liquorice, and oak spices. Rich portlike palate, but manages to hide its alcohol. Excellent, but needs cheese or dessert to tone down it's unctuous nature.
