Dark red plus color, 3mm clear edge. PNP, drank 2 glasses over 2 hours. Great nose, powdery dried raspberries, tar, blueberry, savory, funk, coriander, anise, and blood. The palate shows fine balance, lots of minerality, iron, blood meal, raspberries, blueberry, dried herbs and garrigue. This is medium-full bodied and featherweight on the palate. 93+pts. Sweet spot, plenty in the tank.

Grass jelly, mint, spices with sweet tone on the nose. Southern Rhone sweet in despite of its 15.5% alc. Vol. Good to go with stew red meat.

Spontaneous virtual CdP wine tasting with my dear friend Rainer (non-blind). (Zoom): Wine 1 of 3: Very reserved. Spice-driven, with some underlying pruny and raisiny fruit. Smooth on the entry, but very dry through the middle and on the end. Finished quickly. Shut down or dried out? I am not sure if the wine will come around again, but there is not much pleasure to be found in it at this stage. Scheduled for retrying in five years, but I have my doubts. NR

Small glass. Too ripe, too hot, past its peak.

Ripe and earthy, but a bit thick, soft and tired. This bottle was a little past its prime.

Opened this to serve with a savory pork dish. It was not what I expected. Rather than savory, I found this to be quite modern. Almost like a tame version of OZ Shiraz. It was "good enough" in terms of drinking tonight, but not at all what I expected from a CdP with 12 years of age. Did not pair well with the food tonight (e.g. savory food, modern CdP). In that regard, while it was pleasant, I also found it to be disappointing.

Beautiful dark red color. Looks not to have evolved. Aroma's still somewhat subdued like the bottle I drank two years ago. Dark fruit, cherry, some raw meat and a little spice. Full-bodied, big fleshy wine, good moothfeel and full integrated tannins. Good balance and very well made. With the previous bottle I thought it may be in a closed phase, but now I think it reached its peak and will remain there for probably 3-5 years more before declinging.

Very nice classically styled cdp with lots of dark fruit, earth, garrigue, leather and anise notes. Still on the tannic side, but drinking well wi just abit of air.

Lots of cherry: dried, red. Spices on the finish. Great now but will be good for many years.

At PnP, it's all dark chocolate covered cherry cordial. After an hour decant, a spice cabinet of complexity emerges, with the fruit falling far to the background.

Drank in a 3-year vertical of '05, '06 & '07.
This '06, while very good, was most people least favorite of the vertical. This wine was a little more tannic then the others.

20th Annual Lyon 10 Year Retrospective: The Mish Mash (Lyon Den): This bottle had a mix of red and black fruit, underbrush, garrigue, pepper, and leather notes. Blind I got the CdP, but didn't recognize it as the wine we had out at dinner the previous night! 92pts on day 2, still deep tannic and long, more like the 11/5/16 bottle. Now-2022.

This bottle was just great. PNP at "Rye" in Eugene, this wine had an open nose with black fruit, kirsch, minerals, espresso, and leather. Similar on the palate and just very smooth / velvety. Ridiculous match with poutine (including shards of duck confit) and a gamey meatballs app. Now-2022.

During a merchant tasting. Medium purple. Discrete nose of dark berry with some stalksm licorice. Very reductive and young on the palate, the tannins are a bit too prominent here for me but other than that a fresh, aromatic experience.

This was a bit tight at first but blossomed considerably after an hour. A nose of coffee, blueberries, some caramel and floral elements is followed on the attack by a perception of moderate sweetness (probably the 15.5% ABV), with an added note of cocoa. The style is modern and forward, but decent acidity provides a sense of balance that should give the wine fairly broad appeal. Tannins are partly resolved and do not impede enjoyment, but are still sufficiently perceptible to suggest this wine needs another few years to reach its peak.

(this bottle was purchased last year at Lavinia Paris which in turn had acquired it earlier the same year directly from the domaine, according to a back label)

Chateauneuf du Pape 2006 (@ VD): In the bouquet ripe dark forest fruits, flowers, toast, coffee and some floral impressions. Same on the palate. Here also the garrigue shows more clearly. Firm acidity and tannin with still a firm bite. Good concentration. Beautiful wine which needs a few more years to really show what it has in store. Not before 2018. Better between 2020 and 2024+. 92++ for tonight.

Consumed over two nights. Ripe, dark black fruits and a flinty, smoky note. Rich and coating on the palate. Definitely young and could still use some time in the bottle to round off some of the edges but this is really nice to drink right now.

First tasted after just opening. Brilliant deep garnet in the glass. The nose is complex with cherry pit, fresh cherry juice, crushed flowers, and a hint of petrol. The palate ranges from red currant and tart cherry to wet stones, paraffin, oak, and garrigue. It turns astringent and bitter on the finish. The tannins are a bit angular and not well integrated. The warming finish is long lasting and pleasant. This oddity in the finish improves dramatically with some time in the glass. Hoping to update this note after a few hours of oxygen.
