over twee avonden gedronken, rode kleur, in de neus veel jeugdigheid, duidelijk nieuw hout, rijpheid en veel fruit, fraamboos, kersen, bessen, smaak is soepel en warm, de tweede dag komt de smaak wat mooier over, meer balans en diepgang, zwoel fruit, met ook kracht, alcohol is niet echt waar te nemen, nog piepjong maar nu al mooi om te drinken, wel erg modern en het hout moet zeker nog de tijd hebben om door de wijn te worden opgenomen (504 views)

2007 Chateauneuf tasting at Beltramos: 50/50 syrah/grenache. A slight chemical aroma on the nose, can't place it. nice deep fruit, darker flavors, good balance. Would not guess CdP, but decent wine. (765 views)

2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Tasting (Beltramo's in Menlo Park, California): Very dark cherry red color; big, floral, berry, lilac, berry pie nose; ripe berry, berry pie, vanilla, boysenberry palate, a "modern" style CdP in a good way; medium-plus finish 93+ pts. (50% Syrah from 55-year-old vines on a parcel with sandy soil and 50% Grenache from 80-year-old vines from a parcel with round stones and sand, the Syrah and Grenache vinified separately; fermentation, vinification and maturation entirely in new, medium toast, Seguin-Moreau barrels with one side removed; 30-day maceration in these barrels with daily pigeage by hand; at end of 30 days, the wine is transferred to tank, the solids are pressed, and the juice then returned to the barrels; the barrel maker comes to the winery to replace the sides of the barrels, and the wine then begins its 16-month maturation period in these same barrels) (968 views)

Nose of new oak, blood orange, ripe peperoni and spicy... in the month, new oak again with ripe tannins, juicy fruit and good refreshing acidity... I hope the oak will integrate with time, as it is a bit too much now (1181 views)

This is extremely beautiful. Sweet and lush and a lot of extraction. Black forest fruits, soft bitterness and tannin. Meaty, spicy etc. Great now! (959 views)

Meaty. Steak. Spicy. Lush. Sweet ripe fruits. Full bodied. Beautiful soft tannin. Complex. Although just in the bottle, this is such a feast now!!! Definitely a long future, but given at least 10 hours of air, this is such a treat now! A stage you should not forget to try! (1089 views)

From the cellar of GK. Decanted for 3-4 hours prior to serving. Really pretty nose of ripe blackberries, vanilla extract and some subtle toast. This is just plain “delicious” on the palate with juicy dark fruits, sweet tannins and a very long finish. Undoubtedly new world in style, but balanced and in no way over the top. Has the structure to age, but pretty damn tasty right now. (1289 views)
