2009 Lobo Hills Right Bank Blend

Columbia Valley Red Blend more

An excellent value at <$16, this wine was good-to-go with minimal air, pleasantly exceeding my expectations. Merlot in the lead position (69%), but evidence of Cabernet Sauvignon (21%) also present. 5% each Petit Verdot and Cab Franc. The blend worked well.

The listed alcohol was a quite high at 15.5%, but it didn't taste/feel like that at all, as it was well-balanced and not at all distracting. Delicious, well-made, and ready-to-drink now. 90-91.

Probably just needs some more time in the bottle for all of the nuances to come through. Already showing some stone fruits and minerality; not yet finding the normal honeycomb this wine usually has.

One of the darker pours I've seen in a long time, esp. from a still-youthful vintage. Nice cab, not too food-centric, so an easy drinker alone. Nice for the price.

Showing it's age, this one. Stewed fruit showing on the nose and palate, with some bricking on the rim. Thought this would have held up a tad better. Spicy-sweet red fruit, like strawberries with balsamic drizzled over them. As mentioned, a slight stewed fruit flavor that isn't terrible, but also doesn't bode well for future drinkability. Solid acid and structure, but the overly sweet fruit detracts somewhat. Drink 'em if you got 'em!

Bought at the winery some three years ago. Haven't had many domestic petit verdots. Very dark purple, oak and vanilla. Coffee, toast and mocha. This was pretty modern and pretty tasty. Resolved tannins, smooth drinking. This is ready to drink.

A tad disappointing versus the esteem the wine mags have for this. Had the nose and appearance of a Cab (this is not 100% Cab, actually) and the first taste is a heady one of Cab, but the middle and finish of the taste fall much shorter and the wine lacks some of the complexity of a top-tier Cab. It is neither too young nor too old, seems to be drinking well and there are tannins left --- we only let it breathe 30 minutes, tried it and deemed it not needing decanting. Just lacked some nuances and complexity we encounter with the best Cabs- can't really pick out much in terms of individual notes out of the tastes. It was enjoyable, but at $40 a bottle will not repurchase, poor QPR. Columbia Crest makes great value wines at the second (Grand Estates) and third H3 tier levels, but this...meh.

Silky, velvety, deep and apparently the dry phase others reported a year ago is gone. Smells and tastes like a good French Bordeaux. Still has a touch of heat and might peak in just about a year from now, but definitely in it's drinking window now

this is a really big, lovely, impressive Bdx blend. Still young. But nicely integrated. Aromas of red fruit. Cherry and plum dominate the flavor profile accompanied by vanilla and s touch of bitter chocolate. Long, complex finish.
