From magnum. Very enjoyable overall. Nicely mature with good combination of ripe and evolved flavors, with hints of what I'd imagine was once jammy character. Fun.

Big ripe mature fruit nose, with a touch of smoke & tobacco, that leads into a full fruit taste, thick and so smooth, but this bottle had a bit over-ripe fruit vs. last bottle. Drink now.

Big fruity Cab with some interesting earth and mushroom notes. Good structure and well integrated tannins. Slightly overoaked, but otherwise enjoyable. Doubt it will improve.

This is the most interesting a possibly best Chardonnay I have ever had. Layers of interesting flavors. Very long finish. Best after nearly an hour of in the bottle breathing. Yummy

Red and black fruit on the nose with some mocha and oak spice. sweet ripe red fruit on the palate with a med length finish. Some acidity on the back-end and easy drinking. That being said I worry that this is not an ager. There was no REAL backbone to it, unfortunately.

I mean it's a good enough wine and by no means do I want to knock it but I honestly wasn't wowed by this at all.

Super Bowl wine with grilled NY strip steak. Only bottle but wish I had more more. A well-made wine. A Bordeaux blend: 52% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot. Less than 1000 cases made. Appears to be in Oak Knoll District just north of the city of Napa

Nose of earth, wet cement yet also floral at the same time. Red fruit on the palate, earthiness (is that a word?) coming through as well. LONG finish, great acidity and big tannins. This has a while to go but will be a wonderful wine down the line...

Really solid bottle. One of the better ones (along with their Cab) during the tasting at the winery over the weekend. Nose of game (uncooked meat) black olive, dark fruit and maybe just a touch of barnyard though not off-putting at all. Full bodied wine with some red fruit from the Merlot coming through on the palate. med+ finish with solid structure.

Drank my 2nd bottle and still quite enjoyed this. Ridiculously dark & dense, with enough fruit and rich mouth feel to make it enjoyable. But it is really hot- I'm not sure what the bottle says the alcohol level is but it seems rather high both in the taste and in the effect from drinking it. I didn't quite enjoy this bottle as much as my first but its still a really good PS.

Deep purple color to it (or maybe it looked that way in the cave with limited lighting...) Nose of roses, Plum, blue fruit and oak spice. Medium bodied win with the palate mirroring the nose somewhat. med+ finish with good backbone. Should age fairly well.

Earthy nose, maybe a bit of lead pencil, black olive, cassis and blue fruit. Med/full bodied with black cherry on the palate leading to a fairly long finish with acidity and tannins to back this up. While good now, I think this will get immensely better in the next few years.

2006 Clos Pegase Cabernet Sauvignon Hommage

Napa Valley more

Popped and poured. This is a medium purple wine with a nose of mint, dark cherry, a bit of something like sweet syrup, and a touch of heat. In the mouth, this wine is nice and balanced, with some solid dark fruit and a finish of chocolate-covered cherries and a bit of acid. Overall, this is a solid Cab and an appreciated gift (although perhaps not something I would buy for myself). 91 points.

Opened magnum for Super Bowl. Problems with the cork but no taint. Lots of smooth fruit and low acidity. Everyone really enjoyed this and I'm glad I didn't wait any longer to open it.

Decanted and allowed to air for an hour before being followed for another 3 hours. Explodes with the classic SR blue- and blackberry aromas upon decanting. With air, pipe tobacco, leather, barrel and spice encompass the heady nose. Needs at least 30 mins in the decanter to begin opening up, and - while very enjoyable - still hasn't fully opened even 2 hrs after decanting. Blueberry, black cherry, light creosote are the most obvious flavors on a silky bed that shows ripe full fruit on a dry base. Will follow thorugh 2020.

Not sure what the blend is. Seems like primarily Cab and Merlot (Although I don't know if Porter has any Merlot). Plum, cassis, oak, tobacco. High acidity, medium+ tannins. Fruity, tart finish. A decent drink, but not a lot of complexity, and a little out of balance.

Wonderfully mature and balanced out of the bottle, this faded a bit after an hour or so and became slightly sharp, but then seemed to regain its composure again after another hour. This bottle was definitely at or moving past its peak.

2010 Hourglass Cabernet Franc Blueline

Cabernet Franc? Cabernet Sauvignon? Who can tell with all of the manipulation. It's a delicious wine, but completely lacks the earthy character of Cab Franc. This is full of blue fruit, vanilla and more blue fruit. Even with 5+ hours aerating, nothing changes. After trying the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon from Blueline twice in the last 3 years, I can confidently say that CS works better with this style, even though I still think the post-harvest manipulation detracts from what is likely incredible fruit.

Decanted. Bright cherry fruit, and a wee bit thin. Nice perfume. Didn't pick up any tell tale greenness common in the 2011 vintage. All in all, not bad, but I'd sit on these a few more years to see how they develop.

Popped and poured into a decanter and served. Bottle was in a pristine condition. Nose was so beautiful with black currant, truffle, perfume and blue fruits. Palate had a lot of intensity and fruit. It was still very primary. This is drinking beautifully with at least 10-15 years left. It was crafted in a old school classic napa style with good amount of left bank bordeaux characterisics. The wine was integrated seamlessly at this stage.
