Pleasant nose of cedar and red fruits. Same notes on palate with added licorice and cream notes adding complexity to the lively and light red fruit. The real star here however is the long mouth coating finish that showcases the fantastic fruit in this wine.

I was worried that I might be opening this too early from some earlier reviews about it being tannic, but I loved this. After a 2010 Saxum Terry Hoage, this almost seemed a little muted. Beautiful red fruit, with a smooth finish, and I did not find the tannins to be too strong at all, at least not with my fillet mignon. This got polished off too quickly, and I was disappointed when the heavy bottle was found to be empty. It had a surprising amount of sediment for only a 2011.

Splash decanted. Deep purple, reticent nose. A lighter Syrah, elegant, with a bit of spice. Very nice, some tannins. Accessible now or hold. All said, pricey for what it is at $75. VERY GOOD

Had as pop and pour when taken out to our local steakhouse. The Syrah gives it a nice dark fruit taste, with the Grenache adding a floral background. The tannins seemed pretty smooth, and so we managed to finish tip his baby off before our steaks arrived. Very smooth and tasty!

Medium body and high in alcohol. Low acidity. Not much on the nose, but a pleasant, stewed plum on the front and middle palate. Not much on the finish. Good table wine.

Russian River Valley. Soft bouquet, but strong cherry, blackberry with some leather and tobacco in the mouth. Light tannins. Long finish. What a pleasant surprise, as we did not bother to cellar this properly.

Great nose and very elegant wine. The flavor profile tilts toward dark fruit. Black cherry, blackberry, plum, dark chocolate. Only flaw on the wine at this stage is the finish and the flabby tannins.

A well made wine and a slightly surprising effort given the difficulty of making age worthy petite sirah. Out of the bottle it started surprisingly harsh and tannic, but quickly softened without decanting. Still a very dark colour 10 years on, with significant red fruit notes on the nose and a fair amount of oak. On the palate, the wine is well balanced, a hint of acidity follows nice notes of stewed berries and a just a touch of smoke. Lasted in the glass well over an hour. Finish has decent length too. Production fairly small (~225 cases) but still surprised no one has given this wine the credit its due. I purchased this in online auction for an absurdly low price, definitely worth it if you can find it.

From a bottle signed by Larry and Ehren. Previous notes still hold. The cork shattered on this, making it a bit more of a challenge, especially with the tiny sawdust particles that pervaded the first glass I poured myself (just to get the cork pieces out of the way; I'm a saint). Starting to brick at the rim. But still elegant. Picking up more of an iodine quality in the nose and tar-like notes in the finish. We have really enjoyed this wine. But time to drink up.

A welcome back to 'Murica wine.

Yeast and green apple aromas; alcohol noticeable but nice lemon, green apple, candied cherry flavors. This is quality stuff. I have a single bottle left and if possible, I'd like to try this last one around 2020. 2020?! My goodness that sounds so futuristic, I'm hoping to take this bottle to an offline in my flying car.

Needed some time in the decanter. We gave it 2+ hours. Not overly special, but a decent Merlot with some earthiness and blueberry fruit, with a bit of black pepper on the nose and palate. Has semidry finish.
