A little known wine with a great mouthfeel with a grapefruit finish that hangs on for over a minute. Beautiful golden color. This wine pairs great with chicken dishes. Try this at room temperature to really release the nuances of this special wine. Great value at $9.99 in Ohio! Still drinking very well, will last another year or maybe two easily!

Not incredibly expressive on the nose, but a satisfying drink through and through. High toned as opposed to sappy and well balanced. Consumed over three days with consistent notes. Qualiity did not fade.

Twisted and poored at Yummy Sushi Robbinsville. Still a heck of a tasty pinot, but not nearly as good as it has been in past bottles. Typical ruby color, with typical Santa Rita Hills nose: strawberry, black cherry, slight hints of cola, and some earth and spice. Nice Raspberry and dark cherry on the palate, with some subtle spices and a smooth finish. Still tasty, but I don't see this wine improving any with more time. Will revisit the '04 and '05 side by side soon! More to come!

An Excellent Pinot. No need for decanting. Medium bodied, excellent nose, mostly dry, medium finish.

Good strong acidity. Citrus notes with a nice bite of acidity. Very good example of what California Pinot Blanc can be. I only wish more wineries would play around with this variety.

Now here is a wine that I would have guessed would be a bit over the hill, not showing much, and being on the sour side. Thankfully, this was not the case at all, and this made for the perfect summer sipper to enjoy during this year’s running of the Kentucky Derby. Grabbed this out of the “wine and beer fridge” down in the cellar, and it was served nice and cold, just how we like our whites. In the glass, this was very light, faded salmon in color, and really reminded me of the same color of Pali’s rose blend a few years ago. On the nose, nice nectar hints, pear, strawberry, and kiwi. On the palate, a very nice acidity for a 5 year old white, with lots of citrus tones. To say that this bottle is past its prime to me is a total mistake, and I think that it is still drinking very nicely. Pleasant, crisp finish made this wine a joy to drink and made this wine perfect to sip while seeing Calvin Borel ride to his 3rd Derby win in 4 years on Super Saver. And leave it to Zelda to once again pick the winery of this year’s Derby. 87 points! Cheers!

{ST} Color is a couple shades darker than the usual yellow, medium-plus body. Nose had a frontal note of sulfur that was somehow not unpleasant, and then in the background pineapple, lemon, vanilla, light spice, and perhaps a little hay. Fairly intense forward tropical flavors are broad on the palate, along with some vanilla and caramel, and a moderate finish of toast. Medium acid. Overall, straightforward tropical chard flavors that are not overblown, but also not remarkable so I don't fully get the the RP score and hype. Drinks at its price point of 18.

Lemon/lime, minerality on the nose and palate. Maybe hints of tropical sour fruits on the palate as well. Decent acidity with some length. Solid wine and good QPR for $13-$14.

19.99 as PLCB Chairman's Selection. Fine AVA for Pinot from a very good year. Medium garnet and no real nose, although drunk from bad stems at BYOB. Some light cherry with earth, cola and a degree of minerality. Would have liked a liitle more fruit. Hint of tannin. Decent, but won't run back for more.

Consistent with prior notes. Nice nose of pineapple, lime, stone. Worked nicely on its own, and had just enough body to stand up to salmon.

Wine was tightly wound, I rarely decant a pinot, but this one needed it. Had a strong backbone, but was a little too tart for my tastes. Flavors of cherry and some oak. A medium purple color in the glass and a good nose of raspberry and spice. A nice wine if you are looking for a slightly tannic pinot. It did open up and I'm sure it would pair nicely with food.

Clear with medium deep garnet color, Nose dominated by fruit, herbs and oak. Medium to high acid levels with medium body. Palate is in line with nose with dark cherries, herbs and hints of cola...This seemed out of balance, slightly closed, and angular. Wondering if things will come together with some bottle age or more air time. Least impressive of 5 Alma Rosa Pinots tasted at winery

Wondering what this wine will evolve into.
