Surprisingly good. Slightly simple Merlot based nose. Good body and length. 20% new wood and 80% one year old Ducru Beaucaillou barrels. Excellent value at £16.

With licorice, chocolate and boysenberry on the nose, this wine has good color and soft, sweet notes of ripe, round, spicy fruits. It is hard to find a better Medoc wine for this small amount of money. 88-90 Pts

A Listrac which is mainly merlot with 15% petit verdot. Still youthful, but quite clunky and disjointed. Charmless but probably an OK foil for something like lamb chops.

Ducru-Beaucaillou - TWS tutored tasting with Bruno Borie (One Great George Street, Westminster): Attractive, fragrant, ripe fruit - touch of vanilla and cream. Only moderately intense, tannins ifrm and a touch sandy on the medium length finish. Better with food. **

Cassis fruit, toasty oak, spices and tobacco on the nose. On the palate a bit blunt, drying tannins, firm and grippy. Bright, slightly sharp acidity, medium finish. A bit unyielding and simple. Good value overall, but unexciting. 85-87

This is a good effort for a cheap Bordeaux. I find, among the fruit, some vanilla and licourice notes. The taste is quite long with good acidity. Lacks a little bit of complexity to get a higher rating but still a good wine. 2,5 NJP

average wine guys notes are on point... ripe, and a bit simple. I got an obvious coffee note on this implying good dose of oak... missing the complexity I expect from a bordeaux... could have been from anywhere...

Nose of savory herbs, ripe, juicy black cherry and black currants
Palate very earthy, woody, firm with some smoke, leather, bold, very left bank aligned.
Finish was long and dry with good backbone and some spice

Easy drinking, forward styled Medoc, with a good nose, palate presence and it sells for a fair price. Uncomplicated and already open, this is a wine to drink over the 5 few years. The wine was produced from a blend of 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Petit Verdot.

The 2010 Château Fourcas-Borie is medium purple in colour with purple currant dark prunes, plums, slight vanilla and medium alcoholic nose. On the palate, a soft entry of plums and ripe prunes. Smooth and balanced mid-palate as it progresses to a finish of gentle tannins and uplifting acidity. Simple and straight forward. Short finish but rather pleasant for its price point.

Formerly sold under the name of Fourcas Dumont is from Bruno Borie of Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou. From a Merlot-dominated blend, licorice, black cherry and jam notes are in the forefront. Light and forward in style, this is an easy-to-drink, crowd-pleasing style of wine that should drink well on release. The wine is a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and is aging in 30% new, French oak barrels. 86-88 Pts

I found this an excellent example of approachable Bordeaux from the 2009 vintage. I agree with both 'Grape Juice' and 'Jeff Leve' on taste profile, but with 'Jeff Leve' on the rating. This is much more complete, refined, and intriguing than say a Chateau Macard 2009. Lots going on now, tastes great, but still unresolved. My only qualm at present is that alcohol is quite noticable at the mid-palate, kind of a strange point for alcohol to come through. Nevertheless, this will certainly improve with time.

Dark ruby red. Quite expressive and high tone on the nose: licorice, earth, deep dark fruits in the core with touch of mineral at the background. Medium bodied, good fruits, structure, and slightly creamy texture to buffer the firm but ripe tannin. There is this inner perfume mix by the stem, herbaceous, dark fruits and floral which is really intriguing. Really juicy and tasty, though a bit young now but there is quite some sappiness to make this approachable. but really promising and a real deal with such a price! Good length with mineral an cigar box aftertaste. give it another 1-3yrs and will be singing beautifully. 85-86+

This is definitely a steal for the price (~S$32). Sweet and expressive aromas of licorice, sweet herbs, blackcurrant and blackberry fruits. Vanilla showing up with some swirling. Excellent richness and concentration (for its range) here. When you thought this is a fruits forward wine and drinking well now, the firm, fine tannin backbone that kicked in after the entry tell you it deserves min 3yrs to really show what its got. Medium - long, quite intense finished with roasted coffee bean bitterness. Well done. 85-86+

Licorice, boysenberry, milk chocolate and cherry, medium bodied, with an open, soft, lush personality that drank well the day it was released. This is an outstanding Bordeaux value wine. The wine was produced from a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Petit Verdot. For close to $20, it's going to be hard to find a better wine!

Fourcas Borie opens with cassis, spice and dark berry aromas. Round, filled with charm and pleasing to the wallet, this will be one of the top value wines from the Medoc in this expensive 2010 Bordeaux vintage. The wine was produced from a blend of 75% Merlot, 15% Petit Verdot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The second vintage of Fourcas Borie, which was formerly sold under the name of Fourcas Dumont is from Bruno Borie of Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou. Filled with juicy ripe, spicy cassis, blackberry and earth, this charming, crowd pleasing wine will offer a lot of bang for the buck in the under $20 category. 88-90 Pts
