20 minute decant (significant sediment). Very enjoyable Rhone with red and dark fruit complicated with garrique and spices. Tannins are nicely integrated.

Beautiful bouquet with dark berries and good garrigue. On the palate the same impressions, some red berries as well. Beautiful acidity and mild, round tannin. Delicious wine in its very youthful drinking stage. Better wait a few more years. 92+

This bottle was past prime. It was an inexpensive Rhône to begin with. At 4 years the middle berry notes had begun to fade which left tannins unchecked and out of balance. The balance is better when this wine is fresher. The tertiary flavors were developing but more tertiary at the cost of the meager central fruit is not an improvement. If you have this, adjust your drink by dates to <3 years. It's still good value but if you have the 2020 drink it sooner rather than later.

Clear, really pale ruby with medium meniscus. So light - hard to tell.
Straightforward but tasty. Rasp, straw and cherry with licorice and a bit of light asphalt towards the finish. Med+ tannins at this early stage.

85% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre. Dark, dark red in the glass, long legs. Quite hot on the nose when directly opened. Some agitation in glass reveals dark fruits and pepper on the nose. As it breathed I felt the nose refined towards blackberry/blueberry and general bramble fruit as another user mentioned. On the palate it’s definitely got garrigue, especially rosemary. Pepper too. With more air, it gets closer to what the nose gave, although admittedly more giving and plush dark fruits than the nose. Some anise too. Not as hot as the nose would imply, alcohol is very well integrated for 15.5%. Tannins are very light and fine grained. Acidity is pleasant. Nice southern Rhône, I’m not qualified to suggest drinking windows but I think this could get better with a few years in the cellar. Good pairing with American-Italian bolognese. I increasingly think Rhone blends are a do-it-all cellar defender red.

Give it a few minutes to breath. Initially the alcohol was strong in aftertaste but calmed down after a few minutes.

Like the other recent HDJ wines (CDR, CDP) this is very well balanced and has velvety fruit and firm tannins that are enjoyable at this early stage. Nice dark fruit blackberry and plum, smoke, and vanilla flavors. Very tasty though not complex.

My concern with all these wines is if they’ll develop and benefit from cellaring. The bottles are unusually clean, meaning the wine is likely fined and filtered well above average for rhone.

2 hr decant. No sediment or cloudiness. Very dark, 80% obscure with brown tones. Nose has caramel, blackberry, wet leaves. Palate has caramel, dark cassis, plum. The enjoyment here is from silky soft texture and fine, powdered tannins. Texturally I dont know how it can get any better but perhaps the fruit will ripen and add complexity with more time. The acid could tone down abit too. Very good wine at this stage and worth the money. Will try to cellar a few more to see where these go.

Bought a bottle for a NYE wine mixing activity. Blended small amounts with garnacha and syrah from same producer. Viognier is the winemaker’s wildcard. It doesn’t dilute the color of red wine at all. In fact, add some red wine to it and it takes the hue immediately. It adds richness, weight and fruit complexity.

On its own, a medium gold. Nose has peach, honey, white flower. Palate has same with acid, richness and alcohol. Without food even petrol and pineapple wine. But with food it stays within normal bounds. Longer finish but no complexity. Fun wine with a group and food. Could not do glasses on its own.

Eye: Deep purple center to a medium red rim.

Nose: Cigar box, cherry.

Palate: Tart cherry juice. Tobacco. Red fruit. Gentle tannins. Strawberry jolly-rancher.

Finish: Red fruit, play-dough.

Overall: This wine may well have been 84 points, but is let down by its upsettingly play-doughy finish.

Palate: Low to moderate acidity. Heavy bodied. Loads of dried pineapple. Some lemon and pear. Some steely minerality.

Finish: Short, gentle, herbaceous.

Overall: A surprisingly pleasant mouth-filling white.
