A wonderful, lighter chard that combines an initial flavor profile of melon that ends with a more subtle buttery flavor on the palate. While bigger chards would pair better with french cuisine, this one might come up short and would be better served with lobster and other seafood.

House Ethics Event (San Francisco): Dense purple fruit, plummy, balanced heat, some complexity, dust and spice; full bodied, purple fruit, slightly synthetic, slight heat; finish is medium length. Good but surprisingly modern. 87

Seems a bit less oaky than before. Found this bottle in the cellar. My notes indicate it shouldn't be there. Hmmm. What was consumed in the past and thought to be this wine?

Popped and decanted for a few minutes, and then began to drink. Just an amazing wine. I thought it was drinking better than a 2008 Plumpjack Estate Cabernet, which we drank earlier in the night.

Beautiful and balanced with a deep dark broodiness. Black fruit, spice, and very chewy tannins. Perfect with the right meaty and greasy foods.

Great wine. Excellent fruit and tannin balance. Only issue is I have opened 3 bottles and all the corks are red all the way to the top. It is drinking just outstanding, so I am going to do what I gotta do... drink them all before they go bad.

Typical Robert Young rich, lush, great fruit balance and looong finish. Not as amazing as their regular chards but great value at 1/2 the price.

PnP for Father's Day with a grilled flatiron steak. Currant and tart young plum / pluot on the nose, palate similar but adds a little honey / caramel sweetness. Tannins very firm (more like a cab than a merlot), great acidity, very long finish. Excellent food wine, really very impressive. I'm not normally a merlot fan but this is excellent.

A little buttery (but not too much) with notes of apricots. Continues to be a very good QPR, tasting like a $30 chardonnay.

Amazing wine for $27 at San Diego Wine Co. Thick, oily and viscous. Legs, legs, legs. Honey, caramel and crime brûlée in the nose; very rich. Rich, full wine in the mouth, unctuous, mouthfilling without being ponderous or too fat. Really lovely finish. If you haven't guessed, I love this style. No, it doesn't have the acid backbone or precise structure you might find in "better" wines, but it doesn't carry their price tag either. To me, it's fab. 5-13-18-9: 95/100.

It took a little while to open up ... may have been a little too cold. Nice straw color. A little caramel and butter on the nose and palate. I think the other bottles will be better if I wait a few months.

Wonderful chardonnay. Burnished yellow-gold with nice legs. Lovely caramel, crime brûlée nose. Rich, thick wine in the mouth. Gorgeous fruit. Creamy, rich, round, but not even a hint of fatness. Just excellent balance near perfection. 4-13-17-9: 93/100.

Fabulous. Deep yellow with good viscosity. Excellent nose. Rich, honeyed, with creme brûlée notes. Very lovely rich fruit in the mouth. Full but not fat. Great presence and body, with notes of honey and cream. Gotta love this. 5-13-17-9: 94/100.

Not a bad little wine at all, although I expected a bit more. This wine had a little bit of lemon on the nose. On the palate is a full bodied chard, mostly malo. On the front is pineapple and green melon. The middle is more supple, and a bit acidic, with apple, pear, and lemongrass. The finish is lightly oaked with a hint of almond and graham cracker. I believe this wine is ready to be consumed, as I don't see it really getting much better than it is right now. I do, however, see it lasting another 5-10 years given the style in which it is made. Drink 2015-2022, but could show some signs of decline in 2-3 years.

Oily-looking burnished yellow-gold. lacking legs a bit. Still, I love how this wine looks. Creamy, buttery, tropical fruit nose. Quite forward. Has just enough steel to it in the mouth to balance what still is a fleshpot of a wine. Rich, voluptuous, and beautifully textured, this checks all the boxes, especially in the mouth. Can't believe this remains largely unknown. Could give plenty fine French Burgundies a run for their money. Very nice. 4-12-17-9: 92/100.

Possibly corked? Nose has some great black fruit and oak, but also a hint of mushroom. Palate is nicely balanced, lots of tannin and acid, blackberry and cassis present but fading a bit - tastes like a much older wine.

Light yellow-gold. Good legs. Fabulous banana-taffy nose hits you right out of the gate. Still, not fat or overdone. Oily. Rich in the mouth, crime brûlée flavors and a very long, rich, baking spice finish. This is a home run all the way, knocked way out of the park! 4-14-18-9: 95/100

Rating unchanged but not going to rate again to prevent skewing averages. This one was just as astringent as the first bottle for the first 2 hours. Other 4 bottles are at remote storage to prevent 4 counts of murder! The only thing that came to mind here is dark herbaceous blackberry with tar, licorice, and pipe tobacco with an earthy brambly finish. Delicious. Manchego cheese paired beautifully with this wine, but it went very well with a stuffed chicken burger. Beautiful wine, and just going to get better in 2-3 yrs.

Wonderful wine. Golden yellow, oily with great legs. Tremendously rich, honeyed nose with exotic tropical fruits. Fat, rich fruit on the palate, with burnished crime brûlée at the fore. This is really special, a perfect wine with lobster, and a long, sensuous finish. What a great wine, and only $33 on special at the winery. Seriously good stuff. 4-12-17-9: 92/100.
