BYO - Erik: A really lovely wine at this price. It did however not seem very Semillon-like but more like a Chardonnay but there was plenty of depth and acidity to make a really nice wine

Bottle bought from the cellar of Oinoscent

The color is clear bright red.

The nose is clean (though it needs some time), med/med+ intensity, the fruit is in the back, oak quite evident with sweet spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, a warm character overall, malolactic tones, ripe red cherry, dates, leather, saddle with time, more earthy/gamey notes, alcohol heat, fruit in alcohol, ripe red currant, ripe red berry, all of them above an oak stave, youthful. Tobacco and cigar box notes later on.

The wine is dry, med body and intensity, 14.50% alcohol, med acidity, tannins are med, the heat from alcohol is quite upfront, the red fruit is more lean and thin, gamey and some mineral notions too, lacks strength and structure at this point, short to med finish.

Very good quality, premium price, drink now or hold. Rating goes for the nose rather than the palate

Dark ruby. Elegant nose with amazing purity of mostly red berry fruit, blueberry, plum, violet, sweet minerality and spice. Medium-bodied, silky-textured and balanced with a long aftertaste. Will gain in complexity as it ages.

Holy Aromatic! an exceptional kaleidoscope of lemon zest, quince and subtle banana leads to an exquisite tasting experience with round fruit and just the right amount of acidity.

If a date, this is 19 year old Miss South Africa who is so perky, cheery and lively over dinner, she leaves you begging for another date

blind tasting of 17 different kind of wines all over the world

first time a little bit disappointed from Palladius, comes from a perfect cellar. Dark golden colour, ripe yellow fruits, honeydow melone, for me and some other drinker a hint too oxidised, some Vanilla and typical creamieness of Sadie/Palladius style

Wow what a wine, surprisingly light in colour with an array of complexity on the clean but rich nose of green tea, crushed rock, lemon rind, some almond, hint of sea mist, palate really surprises, there a bitter core, with rich (sweet but dry) wet stone fruit, persistent and lingering finish and even at 14% alc not a trace of heat.

Good texture, nice flavours but not convinced that I have seen the best of it. The label suggests it will age well for 8 years, and I will buy some more to leave to mature.

Quite different from the 11 more gamey notes with spice, vanilla and fresh dark fruit, dusty earthy tannin lead a nice structural feel and medium plus acidity keep it fresh and persistent

Tasted at Oinoscent
Beautiful clear pale cherry red color
The nose is clean, medium intensity, red cherries, red flowers, subtle cinnamon and nutmeg in the back, red current, getting more spicy with time, clove, balsamic notes.
The wine is dry, medium body and intensity, 13% alcohol, dried red small fruit (cherries, currants), balsamic notes again, thyme, roasted almond, it has an world seriousness with a new world freshness, some lactic notes mixed with clove, med finish
Very good quality, drinking well now could hold

Color rojo cereza, ribete rojizo intenso, capa media y gruesa lágrima bien tintada.

from magnum to thomas 40th birthday. decanted for 10 hours, still young, fresh dark berries, spicay, pepper, herbs, cherries, ripe, fine strong acidity, not owerpowered, delicious tannins giving a good backbone, drinkable over the next 10 years at least, I guess from Mg even 15-20 years possible to reach his peak,
lost barely against the Latour 2006, missing the elegance and complexity of this wine in nuances, 94+, 50+5+13+17+9

Consumed a small pour over about an hour. An interesting oxidative and still fruity style. Rich and creamy, almost bone dry. This would be enjoyable if someone else is paying for it.

Dark gold color. Drank 1 glass over 25 minutes. The nose has beeswax, subtle cedar dust, hints of fusil, honey, oxidative, phenolics. The palate has some earthy character, beeswax, crisp, good acid, flavorful, balanced, meyer lemon, tangerine, good length and balance. Nice complexity and quite interesting. 90 to 90+pts.

Amazing nose - sweet spices, bacon, juicy cherries, red flowers, crushed stones. Not overly sweet or heavy at all. On the palate very precise and focussed. Fresh, juicy, intense, energetic. A little tight and restrained. Impressively persistent finish. Very good. Should improve over next couple of years. 92-93+

Better than previous bottle only because the crisp acidity lacking in the previous bottle is so apparent in this one- wow... Otherwise, the last note works here as well... With the ultra long mouthwatering finish....honey suckle, acacia, lime, grapefruit, stone fruit and a certain minerality- full bodied, unctuous texture, long finish- Blend of Chenin Blanc (it's South African after all), Viognier, Marsanne, Roussane and some grapes I've never heard of- not sure of percentage). Still young and aging very nicely. Very reminiscent of the 2011 and 2012 we had this past summer in South Africa- world class wine.

Integrated and at its peak... Black fruit, tar, pastrami, iron, pepper, smoke, touch of petrol. Sweet tannins, deep texture, long finish. A delicious wine. We drank several different Sadie Family wines last summer in South Africa and they were well made, interesting, world class wines. The whites, blends of old vine unusual varieties are well worth looking for as well.
