The nose was intense but brought strong wood influences. The medium palate brought a variety of blue and red fruit with medium acidity and thick tannins on the finish. This is definitely a crisp, polished wine compared to the rustic, earthy Pinots we usually drink. Still, stylistic preferences aside, this will improve and be best 2025-2032. Technical score: 91. Enjoyment score: 91. |

Then, earth and maybe some tobacco hits you. It’s a very nice balance. It’s a very good Pinot overall. Near the top. But there are some other Saintsbury’s I’ve liked better. (I’ve written reviews on those as well.) But, realistically, this is in the top 5-7 Pinots I’ve ever had. Very, very good. :-) |

Color somewhere between garnet and cherry cola, with a slight bit of bricking. Earthy mushroom nose with a bit of tobacco and a slight floral character. Fading acidity, a bit of heat popping up with the lack of fruit to balance the relatively high ABV. Smooth, full-bodied wine. Subdued cherry fruit, cinnamon, spicy oak and blood orange notes on the palate. Was hoping for a better experience, having drunk well over 100 glasses from various vintages of this wine over the years, and loving the 2010 Brown Ranch a few months ago, but this wine is past its peak. Pleasant older Pinot, but I waited too long on this bottle. |
