3/17/2024 - Cabfrancophile wrote: NRConsistent with others’ notes. Golden color, aging nicely. A round, layered style of white, as one would expect for Roussanne and Chardonnay from barrel, yet has great freshness, doesn’t feel ponderous or cloying. |

3/16/2024 - WineCenturyAZ Likes this wine: 90 pointsDelicious. Interesting color in the glass between Starbright lemon and golden, moderately aromatic with yellow fruit and blossom, palate is dry, complex and integrated, ripe stone fruit leads with nectarines and a bit of apricot, melon, apple, sweet citrus bit of zest, lemon cream, acidity is bright, body medium +, finish will not quit. Happy we have another bottle in the cellar. |

2/22/2024 - YankeeRobio Likes this wine: 92 pointsPnP, doesn't need much air, even at this young age. Pleasant wine, pretty Grenache notes up front of strawberry, cranberry and cherry. Telltale pepper from Syrah on finish, with some blackberry in the background. |

2/14/2024 - DrELW Likes this wine: 88 pointsThis is a medium straw-yellow colored, hazy wine. The flavors are somewhat varietal of Roussanne and Marsanne with some lemon, apricot, and tropical fruit. The finish is flinty with some bitterness. The body is medium with an austere structure. This is a good wine, but it's not up to par with the good quality Rhone whites. |

1/26/2024 - jshufelt wrote: 92 pointsDecanted 30 minutes before service. In the glass, a soft gradation from clear orange-red at the rim to a deep crimson at the center. On the nose, a burst of cherries with reticent herbal elements in the background. On the palate, leaning heavy with the fruit, skirting close to fruit bomb territory before acidity, minerality, and some residual tannins kick in to save the day. A Central Coast pinot that could easily be a ringer for RRV. |

1/14/2024 - RPerro Likes this wine: 93 points2 hour decant; deliciously savory red and black berry fruits, pepper, saline, hints of seaweed and oak barrel. Finishes strong and long, with dark chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Great stuff only just entering its window, so no rush to open these. Drink now with air - 2032+. |

1/17/2024 - jshufelt wrote: 93 pointsDecanted 20 minutes before service. In the glass, clear, light-medium gold. On the nose, peaches, honeysuckle, and smoke. On the palate, a core of peach, plum, lemon, and honey, hinting at sweet fruit, before a wave of acidity, bolstered by oak, comes in to balance things out, and that balance is quite pleasing on the long, smooth finish. I wish I had a few more bottles of this. |

1/13/2024 - hrazdiiv Likes this wine: 94 pointsThis is a beautiful, well structured wine. Comes out of the bottle with a medium-dark crimson red. Initial nose is almost savory, with charcoal, tobacco, maybe even some roasted game. After about 30 minutes in the glass, some of the subtle dark berry fruit starts to make an appearance. But the wine never lets you forget it’s a Cabernet Franc (85%) and retainers a wonderful earthy typicity throughout. Firm, chewy tannins provide an excellent backbone and structure. Loved it to the last sip, and is the most original American wine I’ve had in a year. Superb, interesting wine making at Sanguis. Drank undecanted. |

1/4/2024 - jshufelt wrote: 93 pointsPop and pour into a decanter. In the glass, very dark purplish-red. On the nose, blueberries lead the way, followed by fresh ground pepper, honeysuckle, roses, and a hint of peach. Even if I hadn't read the other tasting notes, this is clearly a co-fermented blend (which Sanguis does very well, and which I love - such fun wines). On the palate, a cool burst of dark berries on the attack, followed by a wild, not particularly integrated mix of fruit and almost-funky floral notes. I kind of agree with every other taster's notes, but I think I'm closest in spirit to Quiet Lion's note - treat it like a delicious cocktail wine. It's a wild thing, and I wish I had a case of it. |

12/25/2023 - ziavino wrote: 90 pointsAn unusual profile, with notes of Granny Smith apple and coconut commingling throughout. Minerality builds as it warms, with hints of wet stone weaving in, and just enough acidity to keep it moving. The oak is overwhelming here, but somewhere under it is an interesting wine. |

12/13/2023 - jshufelt wrote: 92 pointsDecanted for 15 minutes before service. In the glass, clear, deep orange-peach in color. On the nose, the usual astringency of a rose paired with crushed unripe berries. On the palate, while it's by no means sweet, it's sweeter and riper than the aromatics might lead you to expect, combining high-toned astringency with pulses of ripe raspberries and stone fruit. A good match for mango-glazed salmon. |

12/9/2023 - jshufelt wrote: 93 pointsDecanted 45 minutes before service - could have used another hour. In the glass, medium ruby red at the rim, shading gracefully to dark, opaque red at the core, still quite youthful in appearance. On the nose, cherries, nutmeg, and a touch of anise. On the palate, very fruit forward - for a central coast PN, stylistically this could easily pass for an RRV from that timeframe, big and lush. The tannic structure kicks in on the finish. |
