Light yellow. More briny than citric tones. Medium weight, lovely feel, and like the 2009 Forest, more structure and acidity than is immediately evident on the rich entry.

Really big nose with a predominant gun powder note. It's almost so overpowering, that it's hard to get past. Expressive fruit on the palate, white pear, pineapple, baking spices and a good base of minerality. While slightly austere, there's a lot going on here, great stuff

Pale yellow still. Aroma of lemon and minerals and green herbs, with some late oak. Unfortunately, the oak is much more obtrusive on the palate, overshadowing nice fruit and a long finish.

Light straw color. Citrus nose -- fairly straight forward. Citrus notes carried the day -- lemon zest, lime, candied lemons, and an undertone of rock candy. This is a nice wine that should be drink now. Acids are good but unlikely to improve from here.

Needs time in the glass to reveal aromatics of heliotrope and sweet wheat. Apple, pear, lemon, papaya and peach are nudged by swirling in glass and mouth coating the palate with a rich and delicious mouth feel.

A nice wine, but disappointing in the context of the vintage, where NSGs particularly excelled. Good acidity, but lacking fruit, and it seems a bit lean and tannic. Rescued by some interesting soil tones. A mediocre QPR at best.

When I had the previous bottle a few days ago I knew I should drink my last remaining bottle soon. I can now report with certainty that this wine is COMPLETELY over the hill...thin and washed out. If you have this wine, drink it now. It you're thinking about purchasing this wine in this vintage, forget about it.

Chardonnay more

5/24/2015 - Elpaninaro wrote: NR

Bright yellow color, sampled over lunch with remains of bottle revisited periodically over the following 8 hours, good firm nose with notes of lime and mango- but with a bit more of an oak presence (that escalated with time) than I usually prefer, on the palate a classic young Ramonet Morgeot with limes, a hint of tropical fruit and baked bread- all delivered in a generous and charming manner, very good length but the faintest touch of heat on the tail end of the finish, soft chalk notes, this is going to develop a beautiful creaminess with time I am sure but the oak and slight heat on the tail end are troubling, and for what these wines cost these days- it is fair to be very, very picky about such things. (***)+?, 2020-2030. It will certainly go the distance- the question mark is what comes of that heat on the finish.

Started slightly musty and seemingly tired, but red fruit kept brightening up through the entire time this was open. Savory spice from start-to-finish also became more pronounced. This was one of those rare and really fun wines that got more fresh and energetic over the course of the time it was open.

Earthy meaty beefy - that's the ballpark. That said, elegance and such is not in the historical picture of Pommard. This wine has basically been stored in a refrigerator since acquisition upon release. It will keep just fine, but will likely not improve.

What I find interesting about this wine, and I bought and still have plenty of 1990's, is how it fits into my emerging view of the 1990's. They are all over the map - some fully ready, some still quite tannic and hold your breath. My thought is that while rainfall amounts per village/vineyard are always diverse across Burgundy, maybe back then in 1990, and something we didn't appreciate if its true, and I think it is, is that rainfall in Burgundy in 1990 was historically feast or famine from village/vineyard to village/vineyard. I find 1990 red burgundies a crap shoot in terms of drinkability, and my thinking is that this is the reason why.

Open, mature, resolved with a classic, spicy Vosne nose. Unfortunately this had a bit of cardboard so I wondered if it was corked. But the note didn't grow with more air so I'm not sure. It did seem more advanced than I would expect from an 05. Regardless, it was very good on the nose; the palate was a bit roughly-hewn which knocked it down a peg. 92-93.

This was just an ok Chablis, not one that I will purchase more of. It is this particular bottling that I don't care for because I thought the Petit Chablis from this producer was spectacular. This particular wine has a hollow mid palate and not the usual notes of citrus, minerality and acidity that I expect from a proper Chablis. However, it is easy enough to quaff without qualification.

This is JUST inching into maturity; it's still a few years too young to get a definitive bead on. That said, it's got great potential. Tart cherry nose, roses, soil; just starting to cultivate Vosne spice. Well balanced. Would wait 2-3 years longer at the minimum.
