2002 Verget Bâtard-Montrachet (France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru) 11/20/2009aof96

This was a fabulous bottle of wine that showed glorious aromatics married with profound intensity and persistence and a deft balance. The flavors and balancing acidity wax and wane much like a Dvorak violin concerto, its high tone only apparent with oysters, musssels and sauteed halibut. What it currently lacks in supreme density is more than compensated for in its intensity and delineation. Easily the most profound white wine I've had and it's not done yet. (9 views)

2007 Wild Horse Pinot Noir (USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Maria Valley) 11/20/2009sbrehmer88

Nice food wine. Nose of strawberries and earth. Taste of strawberries, rasberries and peppery spice. Light to medium bodied. At $15, I'm all over it. With the price going over $20, I'm probably out. It's comparable to the La Crema 2007 Sonoma. (10 views)

Deep garnet red, yellowish rim, 5½. Very good mature meaty nose, masculine, garrigue, dark fruits. Rather massive taste with a good deal of tannins, meat, spicy, freshness in the finish. Drink now - 2014. Is really opened up after being rather dull at the previous tastings. (12 views)

2005 Silverado Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley (USA, California, Napa Valley) 11/19/2009sbrehmer90

Decanted for an hour. Nose of dark fruits, especially plum and cherry. Tasted tobacco leaf and dust which reminded me of Stags Leap. Not sure if this included grapes from that AVA or not. Finish was short. Paired with prime rib. Of the 4 drinkers at the table, no major compliments and no major complaints. It's a safe bet to serve to the masses. (20 views)
