Gissade på en 68 Gaja barbaresco.
Alltid något speciellt att få dricka ett så här stort vin med ålder, dock så föredrar jag so far viner som är riktigt mogna men de behöver inte ha legat så här länge, räcker gott 15-20 år för mig, det verkar vara då jag uppskattar barolo bäst. Däremot Bordeaux tycker jag man kan ge hur mycket ålder som helst, det blir bara bättre och bättre.

Blommor och nypon känns också. Skrev att det var ett Gaja vin på doften men gissade till slut på en Bruno Giacosa 98 eller 99

Smaken är nypon, mörk mörk frukt, rosor, ganska syrligt, lim. Skrev att vinet har en Gajasmak fast lite syrligare, och det är väl årgången 2001 som gör det men helt fel ute var man ju inte.

otroligt härligt vin, med mycket mörk frukt, blommor och rosor på doften.
Moget!

smaken är lite lättare än de flesta av Sandrones Cannubi viner jag druckit tidigare, inte samma djup utan mer lätta toner av jordgubbar, hallon, lakrids tjära och en frukt det sjunger om.

Drack ett flertal flaskor till gårdagens middag av detta vin och jag tror alla runt bordet som inte inte kunde Barolo innan, håller nu Barolo som ett favoritvin.

Red and dry fruit, cherry, plum. High alcohol and acidity, but the tannin not like the classic barolo. The condition is peak at the very beginning and drop quickly after an hour. Bottle variation/storage problem?

The color was surprisingly youthful and dark with the nose having smoke, crushed strawberries and some leather. On the palate a clear modern type style came through with black cherries, red peppers and a touch of bitter chocolate. It was very rich and I wonder how, if ever, the wine will develop complexities over time or at some point it will simply fall apart. It is interesting to hear Voerzio's own take on the grapes in the vineyard which tend to yield a jammy flavor.

Tasted young plum on the palate upon opening. Very dry. With several hours of breathing got a bit softer and more complex, but still not juicy and satisfying enough. Check if it improves much more in a couple of years.

Last night with dinner, this wine was strong, direct and a bit austere as I often find Barbarescos to be. There was a bit left in the bottle and 24 hours later it's a completely different story, fruit forward, round and welcoming with just a bit of tannic edge, almost like a good merlot. Very nice wine either way.

Impressive pour into the decanter, very aromatic, cranberries with hints of tarry-earth. Approximately 1 hour later poured the first glass; heat made me look at the bottle- 14.5%. About an hour after that the nose became more expressive with some red and black fruit but also french oak, some burnt brown sugar and stewy-ness. Alcohol is out of balance IMO, lower acidity and a bitter finish are the results. Not very tannic; very modern, never really tasted like Nebbiolo. A bit on the darker side for Neb as well. $38 Wine Authorities, preferred the 2012 Riverdito Langhe at $22. Overall Evaluation: B-.

Opened with a bang but shut down immediately after. Very bright with strong floral sweet fruit. Complex and pretty nose. Substantial fruit but not heavy, perfect weight. Good balance needs time.

Pretty consistent with the last note, but a bit of additional earthiness on the nose and some meatiness on the palate, and medium+ finish. The rest of the descriptors thankfully held true as well. Quite a lovely bottle tonight.

PnP. Wonderful perfumed nose of bright, pure red fruit - light strawberry, raspberry, along with a minerals and stones. The palate is similar - bright red fruits and minerals, fine tannins - quite tart. The finish is pretty austere at this point with tart fruit and minerals. It probably would have opened up a bit if we had given it an hour or two. Good QPR. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 4.5+/6, Finish - 4+/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 14.5+/20 (with 15.5/20 potential.)

Same flavor profile, but much more integrated. A bit of a shock during a tasting next to younger Nebbiolos. Hard to say if it will improve much - it may integrate its flavors even more into a mellow, mature blend, or devolve into a tired mess. Drink now with understated earthy fare, or take a chance and wait 5 years to see if it reaches the sublime.

Like others I can't help praising this rich, dark Barolo. Does not hold back or brood in its tannin, but comes out confidently with dark fruit, rich, complex earthiness and a long satisfying finish, in a structured arch worthy of an artist. Even so, it is still young and should do well for another 5 or 10 years.

Wonderful progress since last tasting. Still smooth, somewhat delicate, but more pleasant, mellow. The fruit stands out a bit more and is framed by the acid and tannin in a wonderful way. The finish reverberates in interplay between the fruit and tannin. Good with earthy lighter food. Drinks well now and should last another 3 or 4 years.

Aging very nicely. Good fruity nose, full in the mouth with berries and a balancing earthiness, good dry finish. Complex enough in a solid, unpretentious way that will compliment a good trattoria meal. Still young, should last another 10 years.

i had one bottle of this that was super, great red fruit and secondary notes in size, therefore bought four bottles i found across the country, this was the first and it didn't measure up to the original, still pretty darn tannic (notwithstanding bricking in the stream as i poured into the decanter, was somewhat dry on mid palate and finish, rounded out just a tiny bit over three hours but either this bottle wasn't ready or it may have been the storage... hope the former

Lovely Serralunga perfume. Roses, menthol, and deeper pitched fruit. Supple and round, but still with clarity and focus. This has brilliant balance and freshness for both the vintage as well as it's level. An impressive overachiever. Lovely. 90

This wine took a while to open up with the typical Barolo nose of tar and licorice coming through first and then later the black cherries and thyme began to resonate. The tannins are well structured and finish was long. This showed the vintage and is highly approachable right now. Drink or hold.

What a Chambolle like nose from Barolo. Verduno Barolos are known for there fragrance and this did not disappoint. On the nose: violets, plum, blueberry, licorice, and cherries. Very approachable right now, considering the hot 2000 vintage, but drink well for a few years. Drink up.
