Hours later, there's some spice to offset the otherwise unrelentingly dark cabernet fruit aromas; the palate is tight, with fine-grained medium powdery tannins and medium acidity. Black olives and currents are the flavours; the wine has some mid-palate presence and a medium-length finish which feels like it's well short of its peak. Medium-bodied, not over-oaked, but rather sullen and resentful at present. More cellar time or along decant needed. Less overtly dark-green/spearmint/menthol-flavoured than previous vintages, which is a good thing in every way for me.

Medium garnet. Nose of dark fruit with oak earth and some greenish, leafy elements pointing towards CabFranc. Enters the the palate earthy and masculine but with quite a watery mid palate gasping for more stuffing. A decent but not great effort from Napa.

Present, vital and fresh wine of beautiful red and dark fruit, finesse, concentration and immense complexity.
Brilliant, dark ruby coloured.
Pure, red fruit, dried herbs (oregano!), fresh mint and fine sweetness.
Silky, yet dense mouthfeel, very present and of perfect balance and harmony.
Finishes long and focused with ripe fruit, vanilla chocolate, caramel and peppery spiciness. Beautiful!

Still tight, solid structured and youthful!
Dark, red fruit, (herbal) spices, leather, (autumn) forest floor and licorice. Silky in front, yet robust with present tannins and solid acidic backbone and long, dark finish. Drink from 2025 :-)

Blackberries, ripe cherries, tobacco, fresh meat, iron, road tar, earth, and decent cedary oak with minty freshness.
Later more oriental spices and fine sweetness.
Perfectly balanced and harmonious wine with fine acidity in a dark, deep and rustic package that is nevertheless fine, super elegant and sophisticated. Fantastic!

Dark-red and brillant colored.
Smoky bacon aromatics forward. Little dark berry fruit but mostly tertiary with leather, cigarbox, herbs (rosemary!), grilled tomato and animalistic notes. Liftes by freshness of mint and orange zest.
Fine sweetness and licorice.
Smooth, and harmonious, yet robust and long on the palate.
Finishes with beautiful and cool spiciness of (green) pepper and licorice.
Elegant and harmonious wine of drive, depth and robustness.

Already approachable with dusty tannins, dark-red fruits, licorice, graphite, flesh and cool depth.

Lovely. Drank at Champanys near Edinburgh to partner with Steak. It was their last bottle. Dark red with a hint of purple. The nose was lovely dark forest fruits with a good hint of smoky-ness. On the palate the tannin has smoothed out, with a great balance and integration of acidity and fruit. There is drinking perfectly. A consistent chateau - always been impressed.

From an Enomatic at Hedonism, London. Came off as a baby, despite reviews to the contrary. Even in a 3-ounce portion, benefitted from substantial air. Ripe black fruit and tar on the nose along with some beef and coffee. Impressive minerality and muscle. Firm tannins. Some waxiness on the finish.

Popped and poured. Paired with a New York steak. Amazing bottle of wine. This is hitting on all cylinders right now. The texture is like putting on silk pajamas and sliding into satin sheets. Soft and supple without any hint of flabbiness. Plenty of fruit on the palate, with notes of strawberry, red currant and cherry. Aromas of clove, cardamom and thyme that then shifted into charred meat. Just an all around WOW bottle.

PnP: great deep port-like nose but the taste is off -- nice opening and a shrill, vinegar end. So we left a glass out for four hours and then: bang, lovely. I understand why people throw the adjective "rustic" around for this. The taste is just as folks say (leather, tobacco, fading fruit) and the finish is medium with drying tannins. (1995 is a tannic year, no?) The aroma is better than the taste, though -- it stays intriguing and rich all night long. Worth the 37 bucks but it's more of an academic "oh, yeah, now I know what aged St Estephe is like" than abiding love.

This is an excellent example of aged bordeaux. Bright crystal clarity on pouring. Still a profound ruby to dark cherry garnet core color. Slightly sweet fruit in the mouth. Depth of flavor and powerful concentration that has now evolved into a refined, balanced, beautiful red wine. Must have been excellently cellared. The bottom sixth of the cork stayed in the neck upon opening, then popped! Into the bottle!

Ginsberg and Chan Singapore Steak Supreme (Wooloomooloo Steak House): Named for the winemakers daughter, she must be quite a firecracker. This was perfumed with exotic spice, pepper and summer greens. Good structure held the flavours together well.

Opened and let air for 1.5 hours before dinner of seared sirloin steak, baked potatoes, and mixed veggies. Dark, cloudy Crimson color. Nose brings roses, lush raspberries, wild herbs, and touches of strawberry pie. The palate is medium, elegant, round, and thin, bringing dark cherries, horse saddle, plums, and tangy raspberry baking spices into the finish, which brings nicely integrated tannins. Not going to get any more complex but should soften up over the next five years. Drink before 2020.

Although wine was stored properly from purchase upon release until consumed, the wine is very old, with some leather and peppery spice, very little life, no fruit or perfume. A half-bottle that should have been drunk years ago.

very classic bordeaux. the fruit is now receding so the tertiary flavors are starting to dominate. I think it has peaked but is still good at this point. dont wait too long unless you really like old wine flavors....
