Great wine and drinking beautifully now. I love Montrose on the nose with it's classic earth and pencil shavings. Lush dark fruit, hints of cocoa and gravel on the palate. Balanced with fine tannins. It will be interesting to see if this wine lasts another 15 years

I used to like Titus Cab a lot and saw the 2012 at the store. I was a little disappointed. Decanted for an hour. Chocolate and almost sweet red fruit on the pallet. Not my cup of tea any more.

very pretty deep red with bricking on the rim. Needed about an hour in the decanter to coax the nose out. As others have mentioned the nose continued to evolve over the next couple of hours. classy red fruit, cassis, wet stone and some menthol were standouts for me. Soft round tannins are still present and the wine paired nicely with grilled Prime Strip. Dried red berries with leather and earth on the palate. Really nice wine drinking in its window. I have another bottle and will be hard pressed to hold off on it.

Very nice showing. Last had about a year ago. Served Christmas dinner with grilled prime beef Tenderloin and King Crab legs. Amazing dinner and this was wine of the night for me just slightly outpacing the 07 Beaucastel we had. The wine is blood red and starting to brick on the edges. The nose showed strong dark cherry, hints of anise and asphalt. I decanted for 4 hour and the there are still tannins but much softer than when I first poured. Red and dark fruit along with some vanilla on the palate. IMO the wine has plenty of fruit, acid and tannins to last for years and even decades. I have 5 more and wish there were more.

Drank with dinner at FT 33 in Dallas. My wife said its gooood. Flower peddles and cherry on the nose. Still young and tannic with sour cherry and some stone on the palate. Will improve time but very nice with a solid decant and grilled meat. I would buy more if I could find it.

I was not expecting this to drink as well as it did given the difficult year. I brought this to dinner at a friends house and did not take notes. But everyone who tried really enjoyed. I look forward to trying both single vineyard wines.

Very nice wine, but did not blow me away either. The nose was amazing upon opening. I slow o'd it for 4 hours and served with grilled lamb chops. perfect match. The tannins are soft and the wine is nicely balanced with beautiful red fruit. I have 3 more and will wait a couple years before trying again.

10/9/2014 - MarkMich wrote: 94 points

Dark Purple almost black and very viscous. Poured in the decanter before my daughter's soccer practice and was worried I made a mistake opening my first Betz so early. My first taste revealed little fruit and a wall of tannin.
When I returned home a couple of hours later the nose had opened up and I prepped my prime rib-eye for the grill. it was a great match!
Soft Vanilla Crème brulee with a hint of pumpkin on the nose. balanced but young. The tannins are still prominent, but there are loads of dark fruit, vanilla and some minerality on the finish. This is wonderful stuff and I look forward to what it does with more time in the bottle.

Decanted for 2 hours and served with grilled lamb chops. This is a nice drinking wine now. The tannins have mellowed over the last several years. The fruit is there but it is not the complexity that I had hoped for. I have several more bottles that I look forward to but do not expect to improve significantly. Drink now.

I really enjoyed this wine. Decanted for 2 hours and paired with prime NY Strip. Dark blood red with a nose of cherry and hints of anise and wet stone. Sour cherry, crem de cassis and earth on the palate. Sweet tannins that should resolve nicely over the next several decades. I will buy some to put away.

Tasted at Grand Cru in Ft Worth through a Coravan. Surprisingly brown on the rim. Muted on the nose, but hints of creme brûlée, raspberry and Carmel. Tannic but a great future. Very balanced hard to rate but get tart cherries and earth. I would decant for hours if drinking at home. Will end up bing a classic in 20 years.

Tried at Grand Cru through a Coravan. Rich purple color with huge viscosity. Sweet bing cherries and some vanilla on the nose, w/o smelling sweet. Interesting nose. Very tannic with great red fruit. Needs lots of time in the bottle but should be great down the road.

This was fantastic tonight. I gave it a 92 a year ago from a restaurant. Tonight I decanted for two hours and served with sausage and pork tenderloin. blew away the 2011 CdP we had before. Viscous and coated the mouth according y neighbor. The nose was a smooth cherry vanilla. There were substantial tannins initially that softened over the two ours we consumed the bottle. Cherry, some anise and fine seaweed on the palate. really voluptuous, rich and a nice wine. This should age nicely but will be difficult to keep from drinking. buy it if you can find it.
