opened and decanted for about 30 minutes before consumption. The dark fruits are still there with tertiary elements beginning to dominate. A lovely wine now probably slightly past peak.

A nice and refreshing summer white. Nothing especially remarkable but also something different. Hard to argue with at $11.

This has been decanted nearly three hours at this point. The nose was initially explosive with cassis, plums, and cocoa but has since settled and is becoming a bit reticent. The palate comes across quite true to the nose, with some oak treatment evident and a touch of heat. This is a good wine, from a producer I gravitate towards for this style of wine.

Bottom neck fill with a cork that appeared stained on all sides but was removed in one piece. After opening, I decanted this for sediment and tasted throughout two and a half hours. The wine steadily lost the fruit components of the aromatics throughout. At the outset, the nose gives off balsa wood, dried tobacco, worn leather, and a touch of light red fruits notably pomegranate and strawberry. The palate yields mostly the tertiary elements and more acid than I'd expect at this point. A pleasant, if somewhat brief finish. Taken together, a wine offering enjoyment to those who appreciate seriously mature wine. Its undoubtedly past its peak, but I can expect little more from this producer in this vintage (in fact, I expected much less).

Wireless nailed it for me on this bottle. There just isn't much happening here. I'll try decanting my other bottle for 8+ hours and see if anything emerges. Nothing interesting comes about in the first four hours though...

edit: I left the final glass of this wine covered for 24 hours and returned to it. The nose doesn't offer much else but the palate is certainly more intense. The fruit is now far more evident on the palate along with a pleasant if atypical spicy component. Its certainly far more interesting now than it was yesterday.

This has opened up considerably over the seven hours of decanting. At this stage, the fruit is now more forthcoming and comes across as plums and figs. The other prominent notes include vegetable ash, and camphor, though there is plenty going on at this stage. Other tasters have noted the tannins, which I don't find to be at all overwhelming but rather part of the complete profile of this wine. For my palate, I think this will improve for several years or more but I wouldn't be surprised if this is now optimal for others.

Mid neck fill, soaked through cork, oxidized capsule. Out of the gate this was an interesting, but over-mature wine. The nose offered the typical array of tertiary elements I expect from a reasonably complex if past its prime wine: pipe tobacco, worn leather, and maybe even some hints of dried herbs. The wine offered slight hints at fruit when tasted which came across as plum and even a bit of dry cherry along with the tertiary elements. I enjoyed this wine for what it offered at this late stage in its life.

My second and final bottle of this wine showed remarkably similar to the first, right down to the loose cork. One key difference was that the fruit was more prominent on the nose, and came across as pomegranate, tart cherry and hints of red raspberry, the latter being the most forthcoming on the palate. Outstanding wine.

The tartness of this wine took me a few sips to get used to but it is a classic burgundy. Strawberry, hints of raspberry, and an earthy minerality that is quite nice. Air has helped - decanted for four hours at this point.

The cork was stained on all sides all the way up but was removed without trouble. I decanted this one largely to remove a significant amount of sediment. The wine has improved both in aroma and on the palate throughout the evening, including this final glass now four hours after the initial decant. This ruby colored wine with minimal signs of bricking still emits a lovely fragrance of cassis, blackberries, and plums along with typical aged cabernet elements. The palate is equally interesting and consists of similar components. If the finish were longer, this would be a truly outstanding bottle of wine. It is still lovely for what it is though.

Although clearly youthful, this is quite drinkable now, especially with a long decant. This is a balanced wine though with a long future ahead of it. If you prefer your Bordeaux more mature, there is no reason to open one soon.
