4th Saturday Group brown bagger: Opens with notes of tropical fruit and banana. The palate reveals more fruit- peach and almost a lychee/Gewurz quality with softened mineral notes underneath. Not enough spice or richness for a Gewurz though, so guessed Alsatian Riesling.

4th Saturday Group brown bagger: Aromas of melon and white fruit follow through on the palate. Medium+ finish. After the first sips I thought it was Chenin- very round and somewhat rich. On the second pass, citrus notes became apparent and the acid came up. Guessed Sauv Blanc, but wasn't sure of its origin.

Decanted 2.5 hours. Aromas of red fruit, cassis jam, roasted meat and herbs. Flavors of red fruit, rhubarb, meat and dark fruit. Opens further in the glass developing aromas of mint, pepper and dried meat. A mélange of red and black fruit on the palate with hints of white pepper on the finish. Long and balanced, this is beginning to drink at peak and should hold for some time. 92-93 pts.

Opened by R&C, decanted 2+ hours. Tapenade, pepper and black fruit notes, with plum and spice underneath. Full-bodied with slightly firm tannins and flavors of tapenade, raisin, plum and pepper. Well-balanced across the palate with a nice finish. It's not too often I find myself in the mood for Cornas, but this would definitely scratch that itch. Drink now-2020.

Popped and poured a couple of glasses, the rest went into a decanter. Aromas of black raspberry, brambly red fruit, pepper and barnyard. Full-integrated and ready to go at this point. Flavors of pepper, red berries and earth. An "old school" Châteauneuf. Another glass poured after 2.5 hours in the decanter revealed raspberry, currants, dried meat and pepper with only the slightest hint of barnyard lurking underneath. Cherry, pepper and red berry confiture on the palate. Very nice and drinking at peak in my opinion- no reason to hold these. Drink now-2017. 91-92 pts.

Deep purple crimson color with aromas of cassis and dark fruit and incense. Medium-bodied. Palate follows the bouquet- lots of black fruit and incense with a nice underlying earthiness. Medium finish. Domino liked this even more than I. This bottle showed much younger than I would have expected and actually could have used a couple more years. 89-90 for me, 91 for Domino.

Opened by R&C. Pale color with notes of quince, white fruit and clove. Nice fruit on the palate, along with spice and mineral qualities. A bit thin across the palate and finish. If this fleshes out a bit and adds some length it will merit a higher score.
