2008 Domaine Vinci Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes Eus

Made from 100 plus year old Mouvedre and Carrignan vines in the only vineyard existing in the incredibly picturesque village of Eus nestled in the foothills of the Pyrenees, considered the sunniest village in France.
Dark opaque purple, with a fine sediment. Farmyard and black fruit, well balanced and long in the mouth. A wine to contemplate that develops over time. Very enjoyable. Definitely to drink with a hearty dish (we had cassoulet. .perfect!)

Dark, opaque, closely formed legs. Typical BDX type nose, earthy and dark fruit, pepper, touch of ceder and vanilla. Full mouthfull which is well balanced and medium length. Only one bottle left that should probably be drunk in the next year. Definite QPR that has aged so well and passed the wife test.

I find that this Chateau really needs at least 4-5 years after the vintage before opening, otherwise it can taste totally underdeveloped. The 2006 is now worth opening.

Very pale pink/brick red, beautiful raspberry and fine herbs on the nose, what I expect from a pinot. RaspBerries in the mouth complex but unfortunately drank too quickly to really savoir and take notes. Definitely a great wine made in the Burgundy style, and definitely QPR in comparison with their French cousins. Nothing to do with the steriodes version of pinot noir that I'd normally associated with North America. Pity I don't have more, but greatly appreciated.

The wine looks Garnet colored. The legs are Medium. It smells like Raspberry, Oak, Nutmeg, and Chrysanthemum. It tastes like Raspberry. The body is Light/Medium. The wine has Bright texture. The wine is quite tart and has a medium finish. Needs to be drunk with food (Salmon, veal shnitzel, chicken with cream sauce etc) because I find it too tart to drink alone. Does not really improve with decanting. Please note that I still have some issues with Burgundy......

Last of three bottles and I think the best. It finally tamed the tartness and allowed the ripe red fruit through. although it was quite meek and mild. Some undergrowth, ceder, raspberries with a bit of smokiness. Tannins have all mellowed out and the tartness has been balanced too by a nice 'bottom end' fullness. Drink up.
Drank with Catherine, paired with rack of lamb on the BBQ.

Given by my friend from Italy that I have guarded preciously to celebrate my daughter's birthday (also a '93 vintage!). Supposed to drink on her 18th but we left it for another year as we were in France when she was 18. This lovely wine has stood the test of time (in a passive cellar, no less!). Clear rusty brick colour. rich and complex on the nose with black tea, steak , leather and slight licorice undertones. A beautiful mouthful, silky, quite full and a lovely long taste. Great balance of acidity with fruit (!) and integrated tanins. I think that Yiannis had a similar experience. I am so glad I decided to hang on to this bottle. Suggestion to all new parents (and not so new); go buy a couple or more of bottles in your child's birth-year with the intention to pop only once the kid has turned 18 or more. Just make sure you buy a bottle that can tough the wait.

Deep cherry,, opaque, no signs of aging. Quite fragrant with black cherry, vanilla predominant and floral undertones.
Lovely balance, takes a while to open up. Starts off with a chewy mouthful starting in the back of the mouth showing up the dark fruit that then develops to the front with a balanced acidity. Lovely long non-linear finish. Delightful.
Drank with family and Zak, accompanied with cannelloni.

Medium purple, semi opaque. Nose of plums, jammy, bit of leathe. Vanilla and fruit, medium mouthful with a tang in the mid palate. Somewhat monotonal, this is not a bottle I wished I had bought more of although I would not say no if someone else poured me a glass ; ) Drank at Canadian Thanksgiving with good friends.

I tried this bottle at the winery, having visited the remote vinyard the day before. This wine is made from hundred year old + Carignan vines located on a small parcel of granite sand and rock located just above the picturesque village of Eus, at an altitude of 430 meters. The village is supposedly the sunniest in all France. This is in fact the only vinyard in the area of the village.
The wine is a deep purple and opaque (probably due to it is not filtered). Complex nose with floral overtones, it is very full in the mouth with a good central acidity to hang the meat of the wine off. Very long after taste that just keeps on going......the tannins are quite present although not too overwhelming, making this a good wine to hold on to for the next few years at least. Limited production of 500 bottles

This is the third bottle of the evening and at 15% it packs a punch
that said, it is quite a multi faceted wine, with a dense opaque view. StRting off with wet dog and farmyard smells, once given the chance to breath in the glass ( no chance to decant) I found tobacco, dense red fruit, vanila and chocolate. A beautiful full chewey mouthfull, this wine delivered to the standards I was hoping for. Reccomended and glad I have another 2 bottles. I am not sure that it will improve over time, so I willbe drinking the other two over the holiday period.

Not bad, with a raspberries, plum, tar and vanilla/oak in the background. Quite full in the mouth with a nice acidity but no real length. Drinking well now and probably not worth keeping to age. Screw bottle-top instead of cork. While I am not running out to buy this again, I would certainly try it if I came across it again sometime.

14 years old and still holding up beautifully. Showing some signs of age through the bricking of the colour. Still lots of red fruit backed up by subtle vanilla. The taste is long and full, with a nice dialogue between the fruit and the acidity. The tannins are totally integrated now, so if you should have a bottle of this, drink up!
