2011 Château Batailley

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend more

7/27/2015 - PinkMoonWinery wrote: 87 points

Lots and lots of oak, very nice actually, quie some nice fruit and fairly harmonious, but in the palate the wine just lacks depth and richness. Not sure how long this will last, but I guess in 30 years, this will be an elegant, lifht mature bordeaux. But would I put it in my cellar? No way!

2007 Agharta Wines Black Label Alder Springs Vineyard

Mendocino County Syrah Blend, Syrah more

7/23/2015 - PinkMoonWinery wrote: 90 points

I like the wine, but it's a far cry from other Agharta efforts. I prefer the 2004 and also the 2006 ExB. It's elegant, spicy, medium bodied and fairly long with well integrated alcohol. But it lacks power and depth to really be exciting. It might add richness over time, so be patient.

2005 Cayuse Syrah En Cerise Vineyard

The cayuse funk is super intense. It tones down with salty/greasy food, which would therefore be my recommendation. Great wine

Barsac Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend more

Annual extravaganza at Farnsburg (Landgastof Farnsburg): Tasted blind. Performing so much better than the last bottle I had recently, this has so many fantastic notes of espresso, creme brulee, molasses and espresso ice cream. A nice bitterness that balances the sweetness with a very long finish. This is just a very very nice aged sauternes

Annual extravaganza at Farnsburg (Landgastof Farnsburg): Tasted blind. From what is not considered a particulary good sauternes year, this stands out and holds its own. Very medicinal, lots of creme brulee, nice length. Good wine.

7/4/2015 - PinkMoonWinery Likes this wine: 89 points

Annual extravaganza at Farnsburg (Landgastof Farnsburg): Tasted non-blind out of magnum. Slightly austere, but still quite dense, a bit metallic, but nevertheless still quite good as it has this nice balance and notes of a typical aged bordeaux

Annual extravaganza at Farnsburg (Landgastof Farnsburg): Irish moos, sunday roast, chocolate powder, caramel, creamy, eucalyptus, I guessed this was a Heitz Martha's vineyard with all the eucalyptus. But - halas - it was a Bordeaux...

This has developed into something much more elegant than I expected, no sign of heat (in contrast to the 2005) and the alcohol is beautifully integrated. This will have another 15 years ahead. Impressive!

2008 Cayuse Grenache God Only Knows

Walla Walla Valley more

5/16/2015 - PinkMoonWinery wrote: 93 points

Tasted double blind. Much more Cayuse than Grenache in style, but oh so good. At first reaction I thought it was Pinot, but then when the minerals are so extreme and the green olives come into play, then it has to be Cayuse and given the light style it had to be GOK.

Yes it is less dense than the Syrahs but that is intentional and works well with this wine.
