2012 Scheid Vineyards Chardonnay Estate Grown - Gifft with Kathie Lee Gifford

Monterey more

Great QPR via wine.woot of a Scheid Vineyards produced Chardonnay in partnership with Kathie Lee Gifford (thus the Gifft designation). A nice balance of a bit of oak (especially when warming) but primarily a nice crispness/acidity. A great Chardonnay made in a bit of the "old style" and not the butter-bombs of late.

I like how Michael Savage makes wines. This Pinot Noir is drinkable now but I will hold my last bottle (if no more is available to purchase) until 2016 (or later) to see how it evolves. Now: Low alcohol - 13.7% (love low alcohol wines), some cherry or other fruit flavor and mineral (possibly).

A delicious steak in a bottle blend. Nice crispness and fruit that is low in alcohol (13.8%). Blend is 40% Cab Sauv, 40% Merlot, 20% Mourvedre from Wahluke Slope in Yakima, WA. Look forward to drinking the next bottle with actual steak. Yum!

I have a Pinot Noir from another winery sourced from Tondre Vineyard. This is a good source which is why I jumped on this offering from wine.woot. This is a very crisp Riesling. This particular bottle I brought with me from Seattle to Charleston SC (biz trip). Was excellent on a warm, humid night just drinking by the glass (no food pairing). I like the low alcohol % (12%).

Agree 100% with Fitchbuck's comment. Not a fan of value for the price. I am leaving the wine club shortly (in discussion with other friends) as we can no longer justify the price we pay for the wine. It is getting way overpriced for its value. The 2009 Tre is a red blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and 18% Syrah sourced from the following vineyards: Klipsun, Ciel du Cheval, Kiona and Stillwater Creek. A very nice blend but not worth the price (QPR).

This is a Riesling that I really enjoy from a unique AVA - Columbia Gorge (Washington State side of the river). Alcohol is low - 10.5%. On the nose, there is sweetness. But on the taste, there is a great crispness and acidity that I love. A great balance. Huge value given comparable wineries in WA state. I will buy more if winemaker has more. Fantastic on a very warm Seattle day - 4/7/2014. All who drank at work favorably commented on it. I will definitely seek out more from this AVA and this winemaker specifically.

This is the first Pinot Noir from Columbia Gorge AVA that I have had. This is not like any typical Pinot Noir (either mushroom funk which I prefer or the Jolly Rancher cherry taste like some California AVAs). Not sure how to describe it. Minimal nose. Taste is raspberry-like with quite a bit of acidic zip. I like it even though I typically much prefer the mushroomy/funky Pinots. I can tell this is made by a winemaker that is attempting to showcase the grape and where it is grown.

My 1 of 2 2009 Black Love magnums signed by winemaker. Drank with colleagues. This does not have the jolly rancher cherry taste like some California AVA designations. This is a better handling of the Pinot Noir grapes from Lachini Vineyard than Lachini Vineyards itself. Comments from others with high scores hit the mark. Very well made wine.
