Palate is powerful and has fine grained tannins. A very good wine, but not the stuff of some of the '05s I've tasted some times earlier from other addresses. Good though. Entering it's peak drinking window now, and staying there for perhaps 5-10 years. |

Nose has a powerful feeling, some volatile alcoholes, lots of almonds and marzipan, liquorice, leather and dust. Partially developed. The palate is full, powerful and has a long aftertaste. Lots of sour berries, redcurrant and sweet cherries. I score this one lower than I have earlier bottles, mainly because it was tasted against a better wine this time, (Matrot Volnay Santenots 2007) and because there is less succulent, fresh fruit in it as it has developed a bit since my first bottle. Still a good wine, but I would drink up in the next year because this wine is not likely to develop further in a positive direction. |
