Vinturied into a decanter for 2 hours; medium dark ruby-garnet in colour; nose of red raspberries, some garrigue, and some red flower petals. Dried red and black plums on the palate; also getting some hints of black peppers and leather in an almost bordeux like fashion. Tannins are more integrated than last trying this in 2012; medium+ finish. This has developed nicely since I last tasted this.

Huge difference from the last bottle I tried; very "green" on the nose and palate. Its like the black cherries have taken a backseat to the green provencal herbs which at times is a little distracting. Tannins have subsided and is good to drink after a short decant.

Pnp through a vinturri; colour of dark burnt red brick; earthy red fruits on the nose with some dark pencil lead with some hints of bright red cherries. Dark red earthy and leathery cherries on the palate; some black fruits at the end; finish is still short-medium; traces of tannins. This is now ready to drink since last trying it 2+ years ago and I'll probably finish off my last bottle sooner rather than later.

Vinturied into a decanter and let sit for an hour. Dark ruby in colour; dark red fruits, red cassis, and plummy menthol on the nose with a bit of anise. Palate's composed of predominantly dark red fruits with hints of dark chocolate and some vanilla. Still tannic; could use a few more years. Medium bodied with a medium finish.

Forty five minute decant; medium plum-ruby in colour; nose of musty dark cherries with raspberries and plums with some hints of green herbs. Red currants, some tree bark, and black olives on the palate; nice entry with some tannins that melts easily with some dark blue fruits trying to break through as well.

Vinturied into a decanter and let sit for 3+ hours. Colour is deep garnet-medium ruby. Nose of dark red fruits and black currants. Cassis, black licorice, and a hint of black earth and black tea are detected on the palate; getting some black plums as well; fleshy and tannic on the entry and dry at the end but has a nice long finish to accompany it.

Dark berries, dark herbs, and a some black plums on the palate; goes in dry and still tannic. Medium bodied with a short-medium finish; could definitely use some more cellar time.

90 minute decant. Dark ruby-medium purple in appearance; blueberries, boysenberries, and minty cassis on the nose. Loads of blueberries and blackberries on the palate along with some hints of creme de cassis and dark cocoa. Medium bodied with a medium finish; I last tasted this 3+ years ago and this has definitely evolved into something really good and still has the backbone to last for quite a while.

Popped and poured. Colour of medium honey and gold; a nice aromatic nose of ripe red apples, apricots, and a hint of salinity and honeysuckles. This has a nice palate of ripe apricots, orange rinds, and a kiss of honey. Balanced on the palate and the acidity is still hanging in there. Medium+ body with a medium+ finish. A nice aged auslese for some after dinner relaxation.

Pnp through a vinturri; colour is light garnet-medium brick red. Nose of spicy plums and berries with a hint of raisins; palate is detecting some ripe red and black fruits with a peppery aftertaste; somewhat port-like without the port-ness if you know what I mean. Pretty good with some spaghetti and meatballs.

This one's evolved from a year ago when I tasted it last. Light yellow in colour and seems to have taken on a little more weight and flavours--mostly buttery butterscotch and ripe guavas are prominent; semi-smooth with a medium-long finish. Served with ahi tuna steak. I think I've become a Rombauer fan!

Reviewing my last tn from 2 years ago, decided to decant this one for 5 hours. Dark inky purple with a dark ruby edge. Black cherries, black licorice, and some graphite on the nose. Black cherries and dark plums along with some black licorice on the palate; the decanting definitely helped with this one; nice full bodied and it finishes nicely though not as smooth as I would imagine.

Vinturied into a decanter and let sit for 90 minutes; poured using the vinturi. Light-medium garnet-ruby in colour; nose of very dark red fruits and some cassis with some black cherries and anise; can kinda smell the heat. The palate's getting loads of black fruits, black licorice, and some dark herbs; tannic up front and hot at the end; medium bodied with a short-medium finish. Lay this one down for a few more years before trying again.

Bright deep hay in colour; nose of sweet ripe green and red apples, some pears and a touch of honey. Nice and smooth on the palate where I'm getting some apricot liqueur, ripe green apples, and some honeyed minerally pineapples; acidity balances out the flavours; has a very nice finish to go along with it. An excellent spatlese with an excellent price tag when I bought this; have one bottle left, wish I bought a case when I had the chance.

Has a nose of a crate full of berries, like raspberries and blueberries from the supermarket; some hints of garrigue with some muskiness to it. Herby on the palate mostly along with some black peppers and plums. Light-medium body with a short finish. According to Pegau's website this has some merlot and cabernet in it.

Very light yellow hay in colour; sweet lemon peels, peach skins, and some white flowers on the nose with a hint of wet stones. Has a good amount of acidity; limes, lemony quince, and some lemons on the palate; has a freshness to it that makes me want to drink this on a warm sunny day on my deck while staring at the mountains. Nice medium-long finish; would give this some extra cellar time before trying it again. Served with alder smoked salmon and Spanish rice.

From a magnum; pnp through a vinturri. Semi bright ruby-red in colour; nose of cherries, raspberries, and some earthy plums. The palate's getting some dusty red currants and more dusty red berries along with some dark plums and oaky vanilla. Medium bodied with a short-medium finish. Drinking nicely after running it through a vinturri; this is not a long termer, or even a mid termer for that matter. Drink now and share with your non-wine drinking buddies and they will thank you for sharing this.

The palate's getting some red jammy fruits, cherries, blackberries, and some hints of cedar. Medium bodied with a medium finish; a tad dry at the end. This is a very well made cab and can be drank now given enough time in the decanter.

Decanted for 2 hours; medium ruby in colour with a dark garnet edge; blackberries and ripe green peppers on the nose along with a hint of pencil lead. Black fruits and black tea on the palate; tannins are evident. Light-medium bodied with a light-medium finish. Have to agree with the last reviewer on this one--there's not a lot of substance here and am hoping that a couple of years in the cellar will help.

Light yellow hay in colour; nose of lemon rinds and green apple skins with a good dose of minerality to it. Has a palate of diluted pineapple juice with some salinity on the background along with some grapefruits; definitely am getting the mineral component as well; has a lemon candy aftertaste. Light-medium bodied with a somewhat short abrupt finish to it; the sweetness is not too overpowering for a spatlesse.
