Last of 18 bottles and it seems each had its own personality. PNP, displayed dark, ripe and lush fruit followed by an extraordinary finish of low acidity and fine tannins. Round and full bodied. Moving on to the 2008's.

Decanted for about 30 minutes and my oh my! Earthy nose, however on the palate this Pinot was dense, mouth coating, rich dark fruit (not the light, bright fruit you normally encounter with a Pinot) with a lengthy and balanced finish. Absolutely delicious!

I have a feeling this was a flawed bottle. Did not resemble a Pinot Noir, but more of a desert wine with an unusual profile. Did not consume after allowing some time in the glass and a couple more sips.

Decanted for two hours. Mid-weight, earthy and just a touch too acidic. Tannins are there but the acidity reins supreme. Somewhat disappointed since I was expecting more in view of previous CT and professional reviews.

Decanted for two hours and consumed over the next three. Obviously a well made wine, however it is not in the style I enjoy most. Earthy and acidic with intense minerality that even the firm tannins could not tame. This falls into my classification of a "food wine".

I have finally learned my lesson regarding Italian wines. Don't drink them. This wine was purchased from the vintner at a wine dinner and he characterized 2006 was supposed to be one of Italy's better years. So I thought I would give Italy one more shot. But alas, another disappointing experience. This particular bottle had a reticent nose, light bodied (seemed watered back), acidic with a lack of tannic balance. Three of my favorite varietals: cabernet franc, merlot and sangiovese. But this palate believes the geography and farming techniques make a substantial difference. I can't imagine a California winery even attempting to hawk a wine of this quality at this price. Talk about tarnishing a reputation.

Recommend decanting for at least three hours, otherwise this wine will seem somewhat closed. Aromatic nose, displayed deep, dark fruit on the palette with mild acidity and firm tannins on the finish. Very nice.

Allow this wine to decant three hours. Distinct mocha notes on the nose and flavors of deep, dark fruit with more mocha. After a three hour decant, the acidity and tannins come into balance otherwise the acidity prevails.

Will not rate this wine since it appears to heading south. However, it still possesses an aromatic nose, on the palate it reflected its ripe, dark fruit character but seemed to contain some off-putting notes and this finish lacked sufficient tannins. Started tasting after one hour in the decanter, but did not improve over the next two hours. Acquired in 2013, so may not have been stored properly previously.

This wine requires at least 4 hours in the decanter to fully blossom. It's a polygamist marriage of numerous varietals that all come together harmoniously. This finish deftly contains very fine tannins. I’m grateful there are not laws against polygamy in wine..

Even after a four hour decant, this wine is still a beast. Dense, chewy and intense. May have to have my glass (and my teeth) sandblasted to get the stain off. So much potential lies ahead. Maybe another year of two in the cellar.

This wine has certainly evolved since my last tasting notes in 2012. It still requires several hours in the decanter or cellared for another year or two. It's definitely not a PNP. Dense, dark and full-bodied, the fruit has now come forward and becoming rich and lush in style. The coarse tannins noted in 2012 have backed off considerably. 92+ and possibly higher in a couple of years.

People often ask me, “What is your favorite varietal?” My answer is, “Petite Sirah.” Then, they look at me curiously thinking he likes a delicate, light bodied wine. Petite means small… right? Yes, the grape is small (petite), but that is where petite aspect ends. Robert Foley’s iteration is anything but small. Let’s see…what words come to mind? Big, massive, monster, beast…yes, fasten your seat belts. This petite is not for the faint hearted. Deep and rich dark fruit, huge tannins….need I say more?

It should be noted, this wine requires a very long decant (at least 4 hours), otherwise your impression will be of a green and stemmy wine. After an ample amount air, the wine becomes floral in essence. Perhaps not my favorite iteration of Syrah.

Seems like I'm always facing into the wind (so to speak) and a contrairian. Uncorked for 2 two hours, then another hour in the decanter. A viscous wine with a pleasant aromatic nose. Dark fruit with a hint of chocolate and a lift of acidity for a very lingering finish with more chocolate. Did not detect any wood as described by previous reviewers. An outstanding QPR.
