Decanted for two hours, moderate aromas, very dark color (reminds me of India ink), deliciously fruit forward and ripe on the attack but then the acidity kicks in. Perhaps I opened too soon so will try again in 2016 hoping the acidity subsides.

Last of 5 bottles purchased at auction in two lots. First 3 bottles were simply outstanding and I gave a rating of 94. The last two bottles we loaded with minerality that resulted in an extremely uncomfortable finish. All bottles were decanted at least two hours before consumption. Perhaps the unpleasant bottles were past their prime or not stored properly prior to auction.

Must have been a bad bottle as it presented nothing like CT and critic reviews. Thin and loaded with excruciating minerality. Purchased at auction with the notation "removed from a professional wine storage facility".

I could not get past the gunpowder aromas and flavors. I do not enjoy this iteration of Pinot Noir, therefore will not rate.

Earthy nose accompanied by some gunpowder with little fruit evident. On the palate I found intense and acidic fruit that continued into an uncomfortable finish. This qualifies as a "food wine".

Briefly decanted and consumed with NY strips. A well made Pinot Noir without the distracting earthiness and gunpowder often found in this varietal. Soft and round but held its own in pairing with the well seasoned steaks.

Second of two bottles with same impression. Purchased at winemaker's dinner featuring Schweiger wines. Decanted for over two hours and consumed over the next three. An unremarkable wine from a good vintage with a reticent nose, somewhat monolithic on the palate and a clipped finish.

Decanted for several hours and consumed over three days. Second bottle with the same experience as the first. Earthy and extremely tart-acidic-sweet and barely consumable, even with food. Will wait until 2017 before trying the next bottle. Used to think I had a "Parker Palate", but after RP's reviews of this wine and the 2012 Caymus Anniversary, I'm beginning to wonder.

Second of two bottles with similar impressions. Sulfury gunpowder and unpalatable....last time I will purchase a wine based on a James Suckling review..been burned too many times by this "wine critic". A rating of 79 is being extremely generous.

Decanted two hours, too tart to consume, strong vanilla overtones. Re-poured back into the bottle and will cellar overnight hoping for some improvement. Day 2 - No improvement with alcohol being prominent. Writing this one off as a bad bottle.

Last of 18 bottles and it seems each had its own personality. PNP, displayed dark, ripe and lush fruit followed by an extraordinary finish of low acidity and fine tannins. Round and full bodied. Drink now since the last 4 or 5 bottles showing some age. Moving on to the 2008's.

Decanted for about 30 minutes and my oh my! Earthy nose, however on the palate this Pinot was dense, mouth coating, rich dark fruit (not the light, bright fruit you normally encounter with a Pinot) with a lengthy and balanced finish. Absolutely delicious!

I have a feeling this was a flawed bottle. Did not resemble a Pinot Noir, but more of a desert wine with an unusual profile. Did not consume after allowing some time in the glass and a couple more sips.

Decanted for two hours and consumed over the next three. Obviously a well made wine, however it is not in the style I enjoy most. Earthy and acidic with intense minerality that even the firm tannins could not tame. This falls into my classification of a "food wine".

I have finally learned my lesson regarding Italian wines. Don't drink them. This wine was purchased from the vintner at a wine dinner and he characterized 2006 was supposed to be one of Italy's better years. So I thought I would give Italy one more shot. But alas, another disappointing experience. This particular bottle had a reticent nose, light bodied (seemed watered back), acidic with a lack of tannic balance. Three of my favorite varietals: cabernet franc, merlot and sangiovese. But this palate believes the geography and farming techniques make a substantial difference. I can't imagine a California winery even attempting to hawk a wine of this quality at this price. Talk about tarnishing a reputation.
