Two hour decant. Second bottle of this over a few years. Had hoped this bottle would be better. Chalky without much other qualities. The last bottle was similar. It's a shame that Hall would send this garbage to it's wine club members. Most of their wines are very tasty, but this is horrible. I did not find any redeeming qualities. They should have released this under another label as to not tarnish their reputation. Other countries do that and perhaps they should consider.

Had hoped for more from a $55 bottle of bourgogne. The juice as good, but I felt there was not much depth of terroir that came out. I decanted it for three hours knowing it was young. I enjoyed the wine, but feel I would rather have a village from another producer.

Shocked me how good this was. Consumed it over a few hour period. Meyer lemon with great minerality. Great QPR on this one. Bought only one to try, but wish I had bought more.

Decanted for an hour before drinking. This is very young. If possible cellar a few more years, but if you do drink it, decant several hours. Tannins showing very strong.

Drinking very well. Don't believe the drinking window on this. The tannins would hold up another five years if the bottle was cellared properly.

Ok. Good fruit and smooth, but no distinctive taste. The winemaker should have incorporated some terroir into this wine. It is almost too bland without any distinctive taste. Come on' man. Make a stand and put something in it to distinguish it. Too conservative.

Corked bottle. We were all surprised it had oxidized even with proper storage. The challenge in white burgundies and oxidation is evident. 3 of our 8 bottles from the tasting were corked.

The second best bottle of the night next to a Lemoine Corton Grand Cru. Had a subtle approach to the wine that was easy and yet complex at the same time. Very enjoyable.

Not a bad bottle, but not showing as well as I hoped for the QPR. I wanted to try a white Dugat-Py and after doing so will stick to the reds.

Opened around 11 am and decanted for 45 minutes. Put back in bottle and corked it up. Started consuming around 8:00pm at a CDP event. This one showed very well. The wines of the night were two 1995s and an 1989...just hard to compete with a good aged CDP. The 2003 is drinking well now.

Not sure if the label was wrong and this should have been red label Kathryn Hall. Two of us had this bottle and it was unlike the previous 2010s which we have consumed 20 bottles between us. This one was exceptional. Big nose...big nose very pleasant. Great taste all throughout. It was bold, yes, but I figured there would be a "rough" part of the palate with it being bold, but is was not. Smooth throughout, but bold and good for several more year. Alcohol was there but hidden by the good taste and blended tannins.

2008 Pahlmeyer Proprietary Red

We opened up a 2006 and a 2008 early in the morning and left the cork out. We started tasting at 6:30 pm. The 2006 was markedly better. Now don't get me wrong the 2008 was wonderful as well. The truth is that these wines need more cellaring. The extra two years on the 2006 definitely made a difference. I plan to wait at least another three years on those wines and and another 4-5 on the 2008. Great fruit and good acid balance. Tannins more noticeable in the 2008. Hint of raspberry, tobacco and pencil shavings.

I can see why Kistler gets the rave reviews on its Chard. I prefer white burgundy any day, but I can tell you that this is a worthy wine. Gold color, apricot, tangerine, pear and floral on the nose. Very good finish. I appreciated that it was not over-oaked like many California chards. Paired it with broiled lobster tail and truffle mac and cheese.

Still very young. Would suggest another 2 yeas in the cellar minimum. I could see the potential hear. Great fruit with a soft floral infusion. Got much better in the glass over a few hours. Should go up a few more points once aged.

2011 Henri de Villamont Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Guettes

Pinot Noir more

3/21/2015 - MemorialWineFan wrote: 85 points

My comment is I wish there was more of a statement made in the wine. The juice was good, but there were not the distinguishing qualities you find in burgundy where the terroir comes out and the winemaker takes a stance and creates something unique. It seemed like a conservative effort where risk was avoided and as a result the wine lacked something special.

Opened too young. Give this several more years in the bottle. If you do plan to drink I would suggest a 3 hour decant minimum. It had a good nose on it. Compared to the 2004 we also had you can see what this can become with more cellar time.

Strong stone on the nose. Finish was a bit tart, but with a few more years in the bottle that would fade. Overall good wine for the QPR.

Not usually a fan of Silver Oak as I prefer mountain fruit. This bottle was showing well It's been cellared properly for several years. The tannins were soft and evolved perhaps being at the ten year mark. Oak was not overdone on the taste which was great and my usually fear with Silver Oak. Good bottle overall.
