2004 Rosenblum Cellars Zinfandel Rockpile Road Vineyardmore |
2/16/2007 - efc wrote: 91 pointsWhile not your classic zin it had great depth in with dark blackberry and cherry. What was interesting was the almost mild chocolate taste and feel in the mouth. This was much better than the bottle I had last year, the funk is gone. Enjoy it, while not great depth or finish it has that certain somthing that brings it into the 90+ range like an unexpected date. |

2/6/2007 - efc wrote: 89 pointsGreat nose of violets, black currents and a wiff of oak. Somewhat closed as previously noted but complemented the risotto with chicken, figs, pine nuts and fennel. overall, a very nice bottle of wine. Too bad Stephanie's nose got stuffed up to really enjoy it. She did go home happy with some of the leftover white chocolate cheesecake. |

1/28/2007 - efc wrote: 87 pointsNot everything I hoped for. While it had spice, pepper, and blueberry on the nose it didn't really give me the finish I was looking for. I guess the 90 point rating threw me off. I've been drinking Buehler since the 84 Cab and have always liked their wines. What I had was a nice wine but nothing that blew me over. |

12/30/2006 - efc wrote: 90 pointsAnother great wine Pepi provided me when he was at Schneiders. Now that he is at Calvert Woodley I had to thank him this evening for this and the La Jota 1988, Hess Collection Cabernet 1992, Gabererlli Reserve Zin 1994, and Carmenart 1997. All 90+ wines that show that properly stored wines in Cabin John, Md. are the place to be. |

12/28/2006 - efc wrote: 90 pointsStunning Sonoma that has held its own. Undrinkable when I first received it on futures. Now a mellow wine with a great nose. One bottle to go. It shows you where wine can go when given time. |

12/2/2006 - efc wrote: 89 pointsA very nice wine. I don't think the blend detracted as another review noted. What was interesting was that I served it with a group that was not very experienced in drinking finer wine. The ratings I got from them was 98, 97, 97, and 95. Their response was that it in their wine life they hadn't had anything better in there lives so it deserved a score of that magnitude. I just loved the wine but then again I like zins. As far as they go it was very nice. Not as nice as the 2003 Richard Surat or some Dickersons in my time but something that I will buy again and be very happy. |

12/1/2006 - efc wrote: 92 pointsHad in Williamsport with Erica and Natalie. Served with chicken with cumin, cinamon, lemon, onions. Earthy nose with a wife of dark strawberry. Layered on the palate with a cola edge I identify with Bien Nacido. Outstanding. Erica gave it a 92, Natalee 93, amd I 91. I'd like to see how it develops and whether the acidity comes down. |

11/23/2006 - efc wrote: 87 pointsAn odd wine. Was expecting much more of a port like wine and didn't show that way. Autumnel with nougaet in the nose. Some other picked up chocolate, dried cherries and prune. |

11/25/2006 - efc wrote: 88 pointsTurkey day wine. Wonderful cedar nose with a tart almost cranberry edge. Must have been the influence of the cranberry sauce. Gave off an more rustic hue in the light. Overall a nice wine that was restrained and didn't hit you over the head like some of the over-extracted Zins out there. Who says you can't have Zin for Thanksgiving! |

11/19/2006 - efc wrote: 91 pointsA wine that has totally hit it's stride. Everything you could want in a aged cabernet. Classic fruit that just enveloped your tongue. Enjoyed it with filets with red onion confit. Where elese are you going to get a Dry Creek cabernert like this...not many places. My head is still swirling. |

11/17/2006 - efc wrote: 89 pointsGreat nose of blackberry and vanilla that made it impossible to not just sit there and take in the aromas. A little short on the finish but the black fruits and underlieing coffee was outstanding. It married well with a balsamic/yellow pepper/proscuitto/red onion pizza. |

10/27/2006 - efc wrote: 86 pointsGood cabernet overall. Nice perfumed nose. Dark plum notes in the nose. Dark cherry and plum on the palate. We had filets and with red onion confit which complemented nicely. Neither overpowered the other. Make sure that wine has time to breathe to develop. Its a wine that needs to be drunk soon. Best as the last glass of the meal. |
