Garnet core, see through, paler rim; fresh and dried roses, lots of fresh strawberry, pure red cherry, elegant, meaty, leather, sandalwood, a but dusty, medicinal in back, slight copper note, grainy in a certain aspect; medium bodied, softer but present tannin, slight grainy but like polish to the tannin, dried red cherry, cedar, pleasant medicinal, plump, ripe, fresh, developing nicely, good depth for level.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Bin 75): From 500mL; deeper golden yellow with strong green hues; tons of honey, vanilla cream, ripe peach, hints at apricot, custard, dense nose, definitely Auslese or more, white raisin, pineapple, obvious botrytis; sweet, savory, great acidity to balance, fresh and youthful, just entering secondary phase.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Bin 75): Dark core with some clarity, dull crimson rim; strong oak right off the bat, big, green notes, cigar, licorice, iron, nutty, modern Italian; firm tannin, oak tannin, modern; unnecessary flashy style because the wine has good substance and still have to appreciate that.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Bin 75): Dark opaque core with thin crimson rim; new oak, high toned, nutty, dark fruit, chocolate, soy, cedar, dark cherry, almost seems Italian on nose; larger scaled on the palate, silky caressing tannin, dark fruit, plum, chocolate, decent acid, big, tar, lots of chocolate, dense; really good, modern but tasty; surprised to see this as Chile because it didn't have prominent green notes.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Bin 75): Darker core, clarity, deep crimson rim; sour plum, sweet strawberry, vanilla, cherry, roses, dried fruit, nice density, a sweet darkness came out later with more air; sweet cherry, firm tannin, structured but great acid, high toned mineral, smoke, tobacco, anise, sandalwood, larger scaled, young, strong, underdeveloped but impressive amounts of stuffing, compact and focused; great stuff, really opened up after 2 hours of air; lots of potential, 94+.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Bin 75): 2nd bottle in a row!; bright red maroon, see through, pale rim; chilled, beautiful nose, floral, oak is well done, morello cherry; silky on the palate, nice mineral, tension, really impressive, dark and red cherry, spice, long, not the deepest wine but seems to have decent nobility, dusty limestone, less sappy than the last bottle; delicious, from a different source but amazing to have these back to back and be so different, chill helped a lot; 92-93.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Bin 75): See through dark red core with large pale rim; sweet sour cherry, bone dust, watermelon, floral though not necessarily elegant; great sappy mid palate, tart sour cherry, firmer finish, darker cherry, almost raspberry, firm, cherry pit, dusty finish; good but could have been better if chilled just a bit.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Bin 75): Crimson red core, large rim with orange hues; roses, dried cherry, sandy, hint of iron, softer, more elegance; softer mouthfeel, very sour red fruit, some iron but elegant with some power on the finish, sour orange, a certain ripeness due to the soft tannin, sandalwood, cedar, light medicinal; was tracking it as 2007 BdM; really good but not great, wonder if there is enough sweet fruit to compete with the sour notes.

Thought this was the most successful and distinctive of this tier, Sherry note really comes out but in a complementary ethereal way, this still has nice pop and focus as well as a touch less heat than the Quinta Ruban and Nectar d'Or.

Very unique, loads of peat, iodine, leather, smells like Swamp Thing but in a good way, a bit of a palate wrecker so do not drink anything subtle after this; relating this to wine it reminds me of rustic leathery CdP.

Father's Day Dinner (Woodstock, GA): Similar to my note on 4/17 this wine performs above its weight class again; it was great to see this elegant floral fresh and fruit driven Barolo alongside a well aged 1998 (Einaudi), the drinkability wins me over, could absolutely drink a bottle without any fatigue, silky but prominent tannin structure, great acidity displays itself as sour red cherry, floral and stimulating bouquet of roses and red licorice; really drinking well with 2 hours in decanter; need to get some.

6/21/2015 - Rezy13 Likes this wine: 94 points

Father's Day Dinner (Woodstock, GA): Color looks great, deep reddish crimson with only a little rust at rim, tons of sediment and wine seemed to get darker as the quantity diminished; nose is classic aged Barolo but so fresh at the same time, love the aged character of properly stored wine, still loads of fruit, high toned floral rose, pure red cherry, anise, sandalwood, and earth, no soy, celery seed, cardamom; on the palate this starts off very focused and stays that way until the back end where this really shows off the earth, iron rich soil of Terlo is awesome here, grainy and caressing tannin that envelops your mouth, nice ripe fruit, leather, balsamico, sweet wood, anise, depth, richness, and tons of character; really awesome!; still love Einaudi.

Father's Day Dinner (Woodstock, GA): Deep purple with bright rim; initially seemed Bretty on cork pull- revisited 3 hours later and no sign, wow this is great stuff, reeks of green and black olives, a myriad of herbs, lavender, violets, tar, mineral, almost seems like N. Rhone; on the palate much of the same notes but the Grenache really comes out, dark fruit, sour plum, berries, garrigue, Band-Aid, mineral, fairly caressing tannin; rustic in style but tons of great character, a beautiful bottle that really distinguishes itself from CdP or Gigondas, reminded me a bit like Cornas on the nose and the palate was a combination of good CdP and Gigondas; need to get more; 92+.

Father's Day Dinner (Woodstock, GA): Deep golden yellow; well put together and showing good balance, I think the extra age has helped along with the hot 2006 vintage, acid is fairly round, lime is strong then replaced in the back by pineapple, lots of honey; easy to drink; went well with ceviche.
