Memorial Day Weekend at Lake Lanier (Gainesville, GA): Another good showing for this more Burgundian styled Aussie, great crisp acid, golden apple and lemon, medium weight but solid mid palate, nice focus; really well done.

Memorial Day Weekend at Lake Lanier (Gainesville, GA): Much leaner and more balanced compared to the lush and exotic '09 version of this, very firm and focused with lots of tart crunchy red fruit, sour cherry, c ranberry, and slightly underripe strawberry, was having trouble getting much nuance out of the nose but the palate was firm showing mineral texture and acidic backbone, mid was solid too; very young and one dimensional compared to what it should be in at least 5 more years; 91+.

Memorial Day Weekend at Lake Lanier (Gainesville, GA): Really nice wine drinking near peak (though others are very youthful), this had lots of dried red cherry, roses, and cedar; the palate showed good texture but drying tannin that made it not the best pairing on a warm Summer day.

Memorial Day Weekend at Lake Lanier (Gainesville, GA): Once again this wine over delivers, it really reminds me of Italy, the fresh sweet fruit, plum, cherry, smooth texture, floral qualities, anise, slight bitterness, juicy, easy drinking, a very nice option on a warm Summer day at the lake.

Memorial Day Weekend at Lake Lanier (Gainesville, GA): Pretty light green color; floral, lots of lime, some sweet fruit in the nose and up front on the palate, slight slate then other minerals come into play, very sour lime and green fruit on the very dry finish, good wine but not the most noble.

VinItaly Day 3 (Verona, Italy): Dull crimson, some clarity; deep, red meaty cherry, chocolate, herbs in back, beautiful and subtly intense nose; great structure, again more subtle, substantial, Burgundian; freakin delicious! Definitely get the influence of both Quinterelli and Dal Forno in this.

Tuesday Night $20-$40 Double Blind (Bin 75): Mine; deeper yellow with faint green hues; yellow fruit, lemon, buttered popcorn, stem, herbal, limestone dust, bitter lemon rind; wider and more expansive on the palate, creamy texture, crème fraiche, milky, lemon curd, mineral finish; not sure whether bottle but this extra age has really released most of the tension in the wine which I prefer less than when it was young; everyone else really liked.

Tuesday Night $20-$40 Double Blind (Bin 75): Black core with thin reddish violet rim; tons of character, wild, rustic, black pepper, smoked meat, dark fruit, a little brooding on nose, nori, bitter herbal note, garrigue, chocolate, sour plum, raspberry; plusher texture on palate, dark black fruit, a certain juiciness to the fruit, tobacco, ash on the finish; fooled everyone as Languedoc; really complex.

Tuesday Night $20-$40 Double Blind (Bin 75): Black core with dull dark reddish purple rim; meaty, leather, super dark fruit, violet; leather, violet, dark berry, wild, a certain plushness to the tannin, tobacco, cocoa, very little acid making this seem brooding and top heavy, cedary tannin, blueberry, blackberry, high toned finish; was on Eric & Joel Durand initially then left, others in Australia; a modernly styled N. Rhone in a vintage where acidity was lacking...2nd coming of 2003 in my opinion, don't understand huge scores here; couldn't finish more than a taste or two.

Tuesday Night $20-$40 Double Blind (Bin 75): A lieu dit underneath Clos Sorbe; bright red core with some color change at rim; smoky cherry, sour, great young Burg nose, tart, almost currant; iron, cherry pit, meaty red cherry flesh, finish is kind of abrupt with softer tannin now that will probably come out with a bit more air or bottle age; good.
