Crazy wine
Light in color. Effusive nose of red fruit but very volatile. At first I was worried it was flawed but nothing on the palate gives me that indication. Pungent red fruit, medium body, high acid Lots of VA but somehow it just adds charm. Long finish. Still mostly on fruit and would love to revisit in five plus years

I often avoid wines this ripe but somehow I feel lucky to have this one

Surprisingly good
Popped and poured
Big nose of red fruit, menthol and eucalyptus
Palate is just slightly on the dry side of fresh but overall is excellent for the vintage Drinks more medium than big and full. Good acid. Palate is quite long. Tannins aren’t resolved, per we, but this is definitely in its drinking window. No evidence of oak. Medium long finish. Really nice for short money. Very much enjoyed

Natty. Fruit forward. Cab franc aromas are understated.
Acid is a really obviously high toned on the nose. Like. It smells good but also a little flawed.
Palate reinforces nose but the wine is quite enjoyable. Long, red fruited finish and bright acidity w a lingering VA issue

Lighter in color than I was expecting bc I assumed copious botrytis. Big bold nose. Candied ginger. Poached tree fruit. Hint of herbaceousness. Hint of candied citrus. Broad palate that is slow to materialize. Rich. Sweet (to my taste this is a very sweet spatlese). There’s enough acid to hold it together but barely. I feel like the quality is high but I feel no need to drink a bunch of these and it’s largest over-arching character is that of the vintage Ripe. Low acid Botrytis. Ad someone who really only has wines I bought on release dating to 05 or so, I find this pleasantly fully mature: 06 and 03 are completely at odds w the still frightful youth and density of both 05 and 07.

Tense. Powerful. Muted nose (likely just an awkward phase). Sour. A little barrel note. Drying tannins in full force. This is not in a great place but it does seem like a pretty good wine if the acid integrates. I don’t really like the style but I had bottles of 2010 that were excellent so maybe it just needs more time or air.

Truly a bit of a car crash
Poured like botrytized auslese. Thick. Dark.
Nose is pungent and tropical. Botrytis and sur-maturité. Not clean. A bit on hay. Less on rocks.
Palate is broad, dark, muddy and bitter. I bought a six pack and I’m sad I did.

13 seems to have been a vintage of kabinett or botrytis and the rich dry wines are sorely lacking. This is a prime example: Just bc you can make a GG doesn’t mean you should.

Opened a 13 Kerpen Kabinett instead (which might not have been exciting but was really very good).

How I haven’t drunk this yet, I’m not sure. But it was excellent. Mostly savory now. Light. Bright acids. Should it have been drunk 6 years ago? Probably.

Still very much alive but believed to be on the way down. Have had a few of the 05 Volnays this year and loved them. This lacks the explosive nose it once had. More meaty than fruity. Very smooth palate. Happy it’s my last bottle.

I was expecting a bit more zip and liveliness to be honest. I remember this wine having magic when it first came out. I only have three more. In it for the long hall. Had it with a soft, brie like cheese. would do it the same again. Or a washed rind. It sort of acted like the honey you might have with such a cheese

Rustic, old style nose. Hay. Red fruit. Earth. Anise. Relatively effusive on the nose. Certainly developing. Palate is sweet up front but quite linear for Pinot w firm
tannins. Length is good but the finish has just a hint of unpleasant bitterness. Overall good. Excited to follow this over the next three or four hours.

Wow, what a wonderful wine. 14 vintage, spring 18 disgorgement.
Big nose, soft red fruits, chalky, the slightest hint of sweetness, broad palate and bracing acid. starts wide and finishes lean and long. This is masterful

Enjoyable but has a long way to go.
A winemaker more on the style of big, clean fruit.
Day 1 it was very enjoyable. Had two glasses over a few hours. Didnt move much in the glass. It was enjoyable, dense and fresh fruited with a decent amount of structure and acidity.

Stayed in the fridge for days. Best on day 3. Hints at tertiary notes. smoother mouthfeel. Very enjoyable.

Holding up fine and drinking well although i would struggle to say it's 'better' than when i was drinking it in 2014. Weird how some bojos grow with age (Burgaud and Roilette, I'm looking at you) and some just stay.

A reference point NV for the natural wine set.

Neutral//lacking nose for the first hour. Cidery//oxidative notes came out. Broad palate. Bracing acid. Long finish. Drank a glass and a half, better on day two.

You’re a steingrubler
Started out too cold. Fridge. Mid level aromatics. Bitterness on the palate (grape skin bitterness). Not much. After two hours on the counter and on my glass, the rose bush is out. The wine is fruity but not sweet. Fairly broad mid-palate but still light. Refreshing acids. Moderate alcohol. Long mouth-watering finish. This is really quite good.

Totally over-delivered. Nose was fresh red fruits, torrefaction, herbal, ripe but not overly so. Palate was medium-full. Generous. Lush acids. Finish lasted. Bottle help up open three days. I was beyond impressed.
