Fairly dense ruby color. Expressive and fairly complex nose of black fruits with a touch tobacco and earthy notes. On the palate, sweet fruits and tobacco, but with fairly high acidity and some tannins. Long finish but slightly astringent with a bit of heat. Ultimately lacks depth and strength. Yet I still find it enjoyable overall, and good with food.

Time has treated this wine well.

Much improved since last drank in 2011. As in the past, medium tonlight intensity nose of tart red fruits. But the palate! An array of tart and sweet red fruits, balanced by earth, bracing acidity and still a fair amount of tannin. Finish lingers on before finally ending in a bit of heat. Finally mature bit hardly drinking this too old.

Expressive nose of strawberry, cranberry and rich earthy notes. Fruit forward, nicely balancing sweet red fruits with lovely mushroom-earthy tones, then nice balancing acidity comes to the fore. A lovely expression of bargain Bourgogne.

Definitely in the "bigger is better" model. Those nose is interesting, very deep, aromas feels powerful but a little closed, dark fruits and earth. But the palate is too much "sweet red wine" for me... sure it's tasty, but almost cloying, has plum and red fruit flavors, light tannins, low acidity, medium/big mouthfeel, but a cloying and simple finish and feel ruins it all for me. I don't get the comments here about it needing age, I suspect it'll just fade due to imbalance.

My last bottle, perfectly mature now, I wish I had more from a case I bought many years ago. One of my favorite QPRs from that vintage.

Deep ruby color, very little paling at the rim. Explosively fruity nose, tons of red fruits/cranberries with a touch of earth and tobacco, nicely complex. Palate is impactful-- immediate, layered red fruits, slightly sour but in a pleasant way, fully resolved tannins. Low acidity but so complex and layered, who cares when it's this delicious? Only the medium length finish disappoints, a touch metallic and the sourness starts to take over after a bit.

Brick red with a paling rim. Good core of red plums and eucalyptus on the nose, very vibrant, a touch of earth with moderate complexity. More earthy on the palate, with juicy red fruits balanced against vanilla and eucalyptus. Light and mostly resolved tannins, good acidity. Slightly hot on the finish-- is it fading? Probably. Still a lovely example of nearly 18 year old California Pinot.

On first opening with a small glass poured out, it was off, with an almost volatile acidity like quality, but it calmed down with 2-3 hours of air in the bottle with one glass poured out.

Healthy cherry color, barely paling at the rim. Aromas at first are overwhelming violets/floral qualities, but with touches of bittersweet chocolate and an iron shavings sort of "tang." Very nice palate-- shows well for the vintage. Rich with juicy and fresh red fruit and minerals, and solid acidity/moderate tannins. Just hasn't seemed to age substantially since I last tasted in 2006, maybe rounder overall, still actually on the young side, even in my passive cellar (45 to 65 degrees). Long tangy red fruit finish.

Lovely, tart- blueberry aromas backed by significant and pleasing lead pencil and earth. Palate is lean with a great purity of fruit, bright red fruits with bracing acidity and earth. Long finish balancing fruit, acid and tannin. Interesting, unique, charming wine.

Soft and flabby for a white burg, but not unpleasant. Pale yellow in the glass. Clean nose that is fairly interesting, honey, melon and a stony quality. But no stony quality on the palate-- fat and rich, only slightly tart, banana and tropical fruit.

Pale gold. Easy to groove on the prominent floral and citrus nose, with a touch of underlying minerality. On the palate, has a lower-end Chablis quality (a compliment)-- lemons, honeysuckle and nice mineral component with good mid-palate and a somewhat sharp citrus finish. Ready to drink now, really a pleasure at $16.

So glad I kept some of this, as it has been drinking well for years. Brick red with a moderately paling rim. Funky but sweet fruity nose, cedary bouquet with blackcurrents and cassis. Fully resolved on the palate, plums and currants, lots of sweet fruit playing off earthy/tobacco notes, very fine tannins. Well balanced and a lingering curranty finish. Very enjoyable.

We really enjoyed this. Bought for less than $20, a Bordeaux approaching thee prime of its life. Dense and healthy ruby red. Full nose with rich currant, cedar and tobacco notes. Nice balance, hours after opening it has a healthy tannin and acidity level that's well balanced by black cherry fruit and tangy minerality. Very pleasing and gains weight the longer it's opened, suggesting years more life. Open now but no hurry.

Light amber-gold color. Round and rich nose, pears with honey and cream. Rich palate, honeyed grapefruit, a bit floral, with great balancing acidity leading to a long citrus finish. This has just aged beautifully, fresh and mature at the same time.

Greenish-pale color. Blind tasting I would have pegged the aromas as a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, with it's distinct cat-pee, lime/citris nose which shows good intensity. Nice round palate, limey citrus balanced against sweet yellow fruit flavors. Medium length finish, nice QPR drink.

Surpringly youthful looking ruby color, not really like I expect Pinot to be especially at this age. No sediment. Cherry, menthol and earth on the straightforward nose. Fruit forward on the palate, with nice earthiness and a slight sour/menthol tang to balance it out, overall lacking complexity but certainly clean and tasty enough. Menthol/earth notes continue on the medium length finish. I found this very unyielding but over-processed tasting when young, and I don't believe it's aging into anything exceptional.

Fairly youthful red tone. Nicely complex, ripe but restrained light red fruit and floral notes, balanced by a healthy dose of earthiness. Great balance on the palate, plenty of ripe red fruits but elegant, fine structure, restrained by earth, light tannin and ample acid. Long, clean red fruit and anise finish. Fully mature and ready to drink, though it will go for several years with its nice balance.

Fairly vigorous ruby red color, slight lightening at edge. Both Jane and I thought the nose was lovely... floral, oozing red fruits, prunes, sawdust, and earth, very sappy and full. Medium bodied, good long fruit, just a touch of astringency and earth to bring the sappiness into balance. Long sweet plummy finish. Very nice village wine and a pretty good value.

Aired for 1 hour before pouring. Bright cherry color. Floral and lively nose, with rasberry and red currants. Well balanced and bright on the palate, with good acidity, and moderate complexity-- strawberry with a touch of cinnamon and pleasant earth on the palate--- but not deep. Tangy red fruits on the medium length finish. Decent value, pleasant light Bourgogne for drinking soon.

Dark but transparent ruby, no lightening at edge. Rich, complex nose with red fruits, cedar, cigar box and a touch of eucalyptus. Still quite young-- deep red fruits, currants, tobacco and cloves, with medium body, moderate acidity and plenty of bracing tannin. Tangy red fruits and tobacco on the moderately long finish. Drinking well, but not at it's peak.

Posting mostly because I never heard of this wine, and it's a pretty good QPR if you can find it. Bought this on a whim, in a box by the door of one of my favorite little wine shops, $12.99. Labeled as "300 cases made" and Lake Co Appellation.

Moderately dark ruby/red color. Simple but pleasant cherry and currant nose, with a touch of spice. We found the palate surprisingly, very "bright" fruit, lively, medium weight with plenty of fruit and acidity to balance--- currants, licorice and coffee. Tannins are resolved, finish lingers fairly pleasantly with red fruits.

One of the better Pinot Grigios I've had (I will admit limited experience). Pale straw/yellow color. Lovely and rich nose of hazelnuts, honeysuckle and other floral notes. Medium bodied, with good balance. Nuts and peaches battle up front, with pineapple/tropical notes coming out on the mid palate. And then somehow it finishes with creamy richness. I would have guessed, tasting blind, this was a decent Meursault, only lacking a bit of verve. Still excellent.

Dense purple color, pretty much to the rim. Wonderful and rich nose of tobacco, eucalyptus and cassis. Medium bodied, tannins are there, in the background, but very integrated with the fruit. Eucalyptus and tobacco dominate the palate, backed by black currant fruit and a touch of tangy cranberries. Lovely balance, with some bittersweet chocolate and allspice emerging on the long finish. I imagine the fruit will only fade from here. Really nice, ready to drink but could continue to evolve for several years.

Very fruit forward nose with sweet cherries, cranberries, mint and plenty of vanilla and oak. Relatively soft on the palate for a Ridge wine, and like the nose, fruit forward, with sweet dark cherries with lots of pepper and of course some characteristic oak. Relatively low acidity for a Zin, but basically in balance with just a touch of heat poking through on the peppery finish.

Pale yellow color. Lively lychee, honeysuckle, lemon with good minerality on the nose, really light and very lovely. Light/medium bodied, great bite and minerals backed by lots of citris/lemon/lime. Great strength through mid-palate, only the finish disappoints a bit. Otherwise, lovely wine. Great with oysters.
