Popped and poured....lots of swirling....this is pretty closed right now...slightly drying, very tight with gripping tannins on your cheeks....this needs time....let sit for a couple years.

Not all that exciting....thin and just average....it's an everyday'r and at $15 it was a fair value. There is some decent fruit on the nose and palate but the tannins are a bit ripe and gripping....but really don't see much worth in holding this one due to it's shallow nature....drink it up...it is what it is. I think that WS is the one that got this one right.

Great little daily Bordeaux....can't beat it for $10/bottle. Plenty of lush fruit with nice cedar undertones....drinking well now....don't see any reason to hold this one. There is an ever so slight greenish edge to this but nothing that distracts enough to knock it.

This wine seems to actually be under 2 labels....Meritage and Vinetta....they are exactly the same wine for 06. I wonder what the story is..... licensing issue? In any case I did right a formal note for the "Meritage" but since these are the same wines the note will stand here so you can look it up under that label if you are interested....great value wine...got this one under the "Vinetta" label from Targets for $9.99 and buy 4 and get another 10% off bringing it down to $8.99...this is a tremendous value for under $10 and an excellent every day'r.

WOW!!!...this is more like it. This wine has come around....I'm with JimHow. Nothing like the notes from my last bottle..this is opened for buisness and the power is on. Tannins are there but not overpowering at all. Glad i bought by the case and a complete bargain at the price.

Color is bright clear ruby with med intensity. Big florally nose of black fruit with an almost citrus component...pinot noir like....not Bordeaux like at all....very new world. The palate shows flavors that follow the palate ....this is a slight bit unfortunate as that citrus component leads to a greenish edge...again almost pinot like. The finish is med to long. I am not loving this wine...shows a bit disjointed at present. Very new world and non-representative of Bordeaux. In it's present state this is a 86 point wine to me.

Opened this to try after reading JS's review in WS. Tight on nose out of bottle... aerated and decanted for 30 minutes...still tight...tight on palate, tannins are gripping, acidity is high....this is way to young....needs time. Maybe this went into a closed stage as it is not syncing with James review at all.....hold for a good year before trying again.

This was my last of 3 bottles I had. Not holding up to my last TN. This bottle is not showing well....cork was soaked through and slight mold on top. Bottle fill was perfect but wine is just tired....showing it's age but not in a real good way....not flawed just plain tired and seen it's time.

Decanted for 2 hrs. Dark ruby red color. Big syrupy nose of blackberry, chocolate, lead pencil, cedar and spice....unmistakably Bordeaux. Lush in the mouth with an upfront explosion of dark fruit, still showing some firming tannins. The finish is nice but nothing like the upfront explosion....maybe the tannins are clamping it down a bit?....time will tell.

This wine continues to be excellent. There are tons of berry and chocolate notes on the nose. Rich, explosive and spicy in the mouth. I am new to this wine but with a few hours decanting the tannins turn silky and this drinks very well today....shows quite forward. The finish challanges the Energizer Bunny. Has the stuffings to cellar for a bit but hard to resist early on. LOVE THIS! 95

Consumed for my 22nd anny. Top shoulder fill on the bottle....cork showed some slight signs of leakage....so bottle may have been somewhat oxidized. Color held up remarkably well, only the very slightest sign of fading on the rim. The nose was showing well, cherry, cedar and some slight green pepper. The nose was very closed at first but game some way after about 45-60m of decanting. While the nose game way to some fruit there are still a fair amount of drying tannins present that just wouldn't give way.....the wine continued to dry out the longer and sat.....looks like our marriage has held up better than this wine. 86

This bottle did not seem to have any of the "astringent/bitter tannins" that I stated in my first TN. A bit thin but not a bad daily drinker for the $. Drinking well, no rush but don't really think this is worth holding onto for longterm.

This was stored in the Chateaus cellar. Fill and cork were in excellent condition. Color is brick with medium intensity. On the nose I get dusty notes of cherry, leather and espresso. The intensity of fruit and secondary flavors are very impressive for a 38yr old wine. Medium body, the tannins are just about fully integrated leading to a very nice length finish. I don't think this will improve any at this point but don't see any real rush to have to drink the remaining bottles either. This is all about storage here...very very nice showing 93

While this was very nice it doesn't stand out to me as a "classic". Full bodied, nice fruit and still showing some tannins in it's grip. Drank this against a 78 Lafite and the Latour was clearly a better wine. Fill and cork were in excellent condition.

Was not very impressed with this. While I wrote no formal notes the fruit was lacking and it had a thin weedy character to it. Fill level was bottom neck and cork was in excellent condition. Drank this against an 89 Latour that very much showed it up.
