2011 Williams Selyem Unoaked Chardonnay

Russian River Valley more

Light summer wine that balances tropical tones with a mineral base. A light golden hue that suggests its body style - flavorful and certainly something different when compared to the buttery Chard's we have become accustomed to out of No Cal.

Really nice and enjoyable wine - light in body with its Merlot base showing through. Earthy nose with an elegant almost fruity flavor. Could only find a single bottle here in Oregon and would love to find more.

Cherries and leather on the nose - fantastic deep red hue - light on the tongue for something so colorful - soft tannins with a great finish - wish I had another bottle. Very solid wine and thoroughly recommended.

Really not sure what to make of this wine - very fruit forward with tons of strawberry jam but seems to bounce around on the tongue with no clear direction - for me....an 85 might be high

With its deep straw hue, the full bodied Chardonnay has a nose of butterscotch and tropical fruit - almost sweet on the tongue with a lengthy finish. A fun wine for all seasons.

2008 Stonestreet Chardonnay Red Point

Alexander Valley more

Low production (185 cases) high alcohol (14.8%) Chardonnay that carries a deep straw hue. While sitting under the Alexander Valley fog line, the low growing elevation certainly pulls heat from the valley floor leading to a tropical nose and long finish. Dense and full bodied.

NV Monticelli Brothers Rolando Rosso

Napa Valley Red Blend more

6/26/2013 - lpoollad99 wrote: 92 points

A wine with a great story - which ties to it not having a vintage attached - each year, the Monticelli Brothers bottle 50% of the barreled nectar, replacing it with new wine - giving this wine an average age of 6 years. Fantastic with rich pasta dishes and highly recommended.

2009 Stonestreet Cabernet Sauvignon Rockfall

Decanted in the glass with a layered nose of currants and spice (pepper). Big tannins, astringent and maybe a little earthy - should have left it cellared - does seem to have potential.

A big Napa Cabernet that was decanted for 90 minutes before drinking. Can't go wrong with any other of Burly vintages - always recommended.

2010 Stonestreet Sauvignon Blanc

Alexander Valley more

5/11/2013 - lpoollad99 wrote: 90 points

I always seem to enjoy all of the whites I drink from Stonestreet. This small production (387 case) Sauvignon Blanc does not disappoint - definately a great white for a warm spring afternoon. Grapefruit, pear and candy apple on the nose, solidly balanced with slight acidity that seems to tie it all together. Would certainly recommend and drink again.

Always consistent, It's hard to go wrong with a Jordan Cab. Found a great distributor out of Portland Oregon, Sec Wines, that I would highly recommend for the purchase of Jordan wines.

I love the wines made by Massimo Monticelli. The Burly brand is exceptional across all vintages. I cellared this for many years - waiting for the right moment to open as i only had one bottle and opened while traveling on business with a friend about to be deployed to Qatar. Great wine, great dinner at Carnevor in Milwaukee and certainly worth the wait and effort to carry across the country.

I agree with all who have posted that this will improve over time however, it was very well received by all this afternoon who had the chance to taste. A spiced nose similar to a Jordan Cab, the '07 Cyrus seems layered in both texture and taste. Astringent and oak'd for sure - one of those bottles you wish you would have left unopened to explore in later years.

I love the complexity of Stonestreets chardonnay's. The '09 Broken Road will not disappoint. Balanced with equal amounts of fruit and butter, it lingers on the tongue, astringent yet flavorful.

Floral with light buttery undertones. I like all of Jordan's Chardonnays and rarely do not have at least one bottle on hand. Chilled on a summer afternoon - good times with good friends.
