Tastes like the house red at the United lounge. Smooth, syrupy, and horribly boring. I'd rather drink Shiner.

Still young (!) but very, very good. The deep, complex, brooding dark fruits, spice, and earth are expected, but this retains such a bright acidic spine, with tart red fruits, that it gives the appearance of a lighter wine. The structure is obvious but the tannins are starting to integrate. Very intense and concentrated. Probably better in 5 years but very good now.

This is sensational. Expressive nose of fresh-squeezed citrus with deeper blood-orange notes. The palate is more of the same--bright, inviting lime and blood orange--framed by zippy acidity and intense minerality. This has a dense, concentrated core of fruit and an attractive texture. Tons of dry extract. Vibrant, balanced, and super drinkable. Only downside is there is some sulfur to blow off.

Very challenging wine to score. No 04 green but the wine is very tannic and dry -- such that the tannins are outstripping the fruit. And yet there are aspects of this that are attractive. The nose is very lovely mix of fruit and iron and earth. And the palate, while structured, shows pretty dark fruit and earth. Moderately enjoyable with food. Not good on day 2 when the structure is even more surly. I don't think this will amount to much but I do wonder whether this will emerge in a couple decades time.

Expressive and very opulent, this teeters on the precipice of being too much, but is reigned in by the acidic lift and serious base of minerality. This is pretty big and a bit viscous, with stone fruits and melon, but it is well balanced and, due to its vibrancy, very drinkable. This has the presence of a grand cru White Burg and, at $70, it's a bargain for this serious of a wine.

Super-delicious. This has ruby red color and open-knit texture, and it shows juicy red and dark fruits, along with some herbal and earthy non-fruit notes. Fine-grained tannins and acids are in effect, but not in the surly young-Barolo sort of way. Open for business and a nice restaurant wine -- but which will age.

This has an inviting nose of red berries and a hint of spice. The light-medium weight, silk-textured palate is, if anything, even more attractive than the nose -- with concentrated crunchy red fruits and bright acids that create real tension. Juicy and gulpable, not a lot of complexity or depth now - but also impressively put together, so this should age well. Just a faint whiff of oak. Can't remember the last bottle we drained so quickly Gets better with air but is lovely now. This is a wine I always love, from a producer I adore, and the best '11 I've tried so far.

I don't know what it was -- perhaps the moon phase, my mood, the food pairing (snapper), or something else entirely -- but this bottle was significantly more satisfying than the one I opened last month. This is just a super-delicious, bright, light, mineral white that has sneaky concentration. It has the attractive grapefruit and minerals of a young Gruner, but without the jagged edges and harsh acids. Perfect food wine as well.

Slightly muted nose. Dark, purple fruits are ripe but not at all overblown. Some minerality, acidity and structure. This is nice, but it's pretty one dimensional, and reasonably closed, at the moment. Hold.

Off the charts good, especially considering this is a villages. Everything one could want from a young Volnay AOC. Soaring red-berry nose introduces an elegant palate of crunchy red berries and serious minerals. Although has some jagged edges from the tannins, acids, and minerals, the texture is so open knit and airy, and the fruit is so pure, intense, and concentrated, that the sharp bits serve only to make the wine more interesting. Not terribly complex, but everything is absolutely in the right place. One of the best villages burgs in recent memory. I'm already searching for more.

Very young and extremely tightly coiled. This has serious raw material, but most of it is hidden behind somewhat monolithic fruit and acids. The fruit is super-bright showing lime citrus charged by high acidity and admirable minerality. This is enjoyable now, especially with food, but I expect it to open up significantly with time.

A little disjointed. The primary fruit has receded, but the acids are high and this is very rustic. Pretty good with food but not great. This is a wine I usually love, so I suspect this was either a bad bottle or this is in a funny place. I'll leave my remaining bottles for a few years.

Seriously good wine. Ripe stone fruits and white flowers on the nose introduce a palate of hyper-concentrated Riesling fruit framed by prickly minerality and an acidic spine, all while maintaining an opulent creamy texture. Really energetic and intense, and nice depth and dry extract. One to seek out.

In contrast to Paul's note, I think this is pretty much at peak for my palate. Although this is still a little rustic, the tannins have receded and the palate impression is pretty soft. Moderately intense cherries on the nose, and the palate is a well-balanced mix of brambly fruit, spice, and some tertiary notes. Middleweight with complexity and depth that have emerged with age. Very nice.

Seriously tasty. Expressive aromatics. Bold, ripe fruit but with enough zip and minerality to keep it fresh. Impressive concentration. The oak is noticeable but not obtrusive. Really, surprisingly, good. And at $19.99 for a .375, a steal.
