In a great place with ripe black fruit, ripe and integrated tannins, acidity, pepper. Great out of the bottle, actually went significantly downhill after 1.5 hours in a decanter. Good length and depth. I would rate more like 91-92 if it hadn't started to get flabby after time in the decanter - but it's great drinking now right out of the bottle.

Could be mistaken for a meursault villages. A fair amount of oak though well integrated. On the light side. Rather Burgundian. Elegant nose, good balance and length, perhaps lacking a bit of extraction and a bit more fruit to balance the oak. (Agree with Jancis that it lacks a bit of mid palate.) Still exceptional value and very Burgundian for a new world Chardonnay. Note: a lot of CO2 upon opening, but a "farmer's shake" (thanks you Thomas and Xavier for teaching me that one!) and a shortish decant helped a lot.

PnP. A lot to like here: classic but restrained/refined Cornas flavours. Sappy, spicy red fruit, slightly dry, woody (not a fault though) tannins shut down the sweet, rich core of fruit halfway through. Needs decanting, or better yet, another 5-10years -- but classic norhern rhone syrah combining animal notes and fruit.

At first, oak was not well integrated (bottle was too warm too warm too -- cooled down). After 30 minutes oak better integrated, minerals and vanilla, not great length but pretty, not much complexity. Too young/primary at this point, hard to judge, but I'd guess that it will improve in 5 years.

Lovely. I am not always a fan of Dujac's wines, but this one gets the balance of delicacy/finesse and structure right. Very pure dark-red fruit with great acidity, ripe but present tannins. Pure and primary, light and delicate but with structure. Should be singing in 5-10 years but very pretty now.

Flawed bottle -- thought was corked, but no; perhaps bretty, but over time nose cleared up but something bacterial / dirty remained in mouth.

Really enjoyed this (and am not a fan of new-world pinot). Very pure red fruits, along the lines of a Volnay. Very good drinking now, could certainly age 5 years.

Fabulous wine, one of the only good US Pinots I've had. (Note that we had a bottle at the vineyard too which didn't show as well, think that one was off a bit.) Fresh red fruit with a slightly savoury character, sweet but with good acidity and ripe tannins providing 5-10 years of aging potential. While the sweetness and concentration of the fruit is undoubtedly new world, it has none of the cloying, overly-phenolic, hot character I hate.

Drinking well with room for further development. Not a big wine, but elegant and balanced. Moderate length/depth, still some fruits, tannins are well integrated but present. Typical mineral character of St Julien. Drank well 24 hours later too. Drink now or hold up to 5-10 years.

Less tannic (and alcoholic) than expected -- very nice spice and complexity, has a "mature claret" taste to it. Doubt this is going to improve significantly with age, but good depth and length already to enjoy now.

Impeccable bottle. Ultimately disappointing for price. Pretty dark berries at first, very mineral, still a fair amount of tannin which shortens length in mouth. Did not open Over 2 hours in decanter - if anything as fruit faded tannins became more prominent. Either this needs a lot more time - 10 years - or it's peaked and will get less interesting as fruit fades. I fear the latter.

From magnum. Popped and poured. Drinking very nicely right now -- sweet red berries and a lot of minerality, medium length, good depth. Very slightly clunky, not sure this is going to be hugely ageworthy, but a lot of pleasure right now. Good value.

Thankfully no gout de coccinelles/ ladybird taint / pyrazines here. The only hint of 2004 character is a slightly green / acid finish that isn't a major fault. Pretty aromas of crushed red berries, perhaps dark red. Noticeable tannins though ripe. Medium length, moderate complexity, an attractive wine that didn't develop meaningfully in glass. I don't think this will improve significantly - worry that the finish will dominate over time as the fruit fades.

Relative to some other TNs, I found this relatively closed/undeveloped, but with good potential. Nose of white flowers / acacia with a hint of wood spice, the oak is more noticeable but well integrated (and not aggressive) in the mouth. Moderate length, not particularly complex at this point -- most high notes without a fully developed mid-palate. Delicate (in a good way) for a Puligny. Didn't develop significantly over 2 hours in a decanter. Seems promising but I would wait 3-5 years before trying again.

Super chinon. Nose of bright crushed red fruit, maybe cranberries, with real depth and complexity in mouth and nose. Medium length. Good balance. Tannins are present but integrated. Dry but not noticeably acidic. Probably a 91-92 at first; lost some complexity and excitement after 30 minutes (but not tired). Has 5 years aching potential but excellent now.

might be the best plain Bourgognes I've had. A great purity of red fruit, slightly tart at first put putting on a little sweetness and weight after 2 hours. Good length. Extremely elegant - surely there is a fair amount of chambolle here? Puts many 1er crus to shame. Gorgeous now but should have the stuff for at least 3-5 years.

Wow! Simply superb, and surprisingly accessible now. The nose leaps out of the glass and grabs you. Very complex and layered aroma & palate -- palate-staining, long, full without being big. A bit of pineapple and caramel (there's oak but very well integrated already). So much potential.
