Drank from 3 liter bottle. Tasted both right after opening and 24h later. A delightful surprise since after 21 years who could expect a Chianti Classico to still be holding its own even in a large format bottle? Color was absolutely clear dark red with no visible bricking and only moderate sediment. Nose was a little muted but not nearly what one might expect with this much bottle age, and featured cherries and some cedar-like notes. No off odors or flavor at all. Palate was similar to nose with typical Sangiovese tart acidity. Short finish. Paired very nicely with homemade lasagna. Very pleased with this gamble which I bought from a collector's cellar.

A good example of "natural"-style Loire cab franc, meaning low-alcohol, low-fruit, high acidity, and prominent vegetal aromas and flavors. Definitely one to get if you go in for this sort of thing, which I don't.

This is one of those wines that remind you of how good wine can be. It is also one of those wines that defies reductionist description (at least by me). Bought on release and cellared under good conditions. Opened the night before (to make sure it wasn't flawed) and kept under vacuum for 24h, so notes were basically in a pop & pour context. Two bottles (from same case) consumed with identical notes. The nose is extremely complex and moderately powerful. It sashays rather than jumps out of the glass, but is by no means a shrinking violet. I can't place specific aromas, but it definitely smells like other great Chateauneufs I've had. On the palate, similarly complex but can't pick out specific flavors. The tannins are almost completely resolved. The finish is medium, not super-long, but nonetheless, this was a very special wine. Wouldn't decant. Wouldn't necessarily wait any longer to drink either.

This greatly elevates my opinion of Guigal as I've never had their CDP before but I have had their CDR which has always disappointed me.

Tasted at McCarthy & Schiering. Not ideal tasting environment but very positive impression. As typical for AW, very rich dark fruits, cocoa, and cigar box on nose & palate very tannic, lots of structure, and long finish. I am very pleasantly surprised at the quality of this lower-priced cuvee which I think is a great value at $29/bottle. Per the winemaker, the fruit is all from the Champoux vineyard. Will be great to see what this is like in 4-5 years.

Dark red, no bricking. Blackberry and garrigue on the nose. Palate with dark fruits and leather. Prominent acid. Some tannins. Medium finish. Nice village Rhone.

Color-Dark red, no bricking. Nose-Red licorice, rhubarb, cherries, not much else. Palate-Prominent acidity, tart cherries, olive tapenade. Rather short finish. Prominent tannins despite the age. Very modern in style-Wouldn't have pegged this for a Tempranillo-based wine. Might pass for a young Brunello.

I am a big fan of this cuvée, having purchased four bottles of the 2010 from WTSO and enjoying several of them immensely. The 2012 shows the same flavor profile overall, and appears to have the same depth, though it is a bit young yet and I think it needs some time for all the bits to fall into place. I have another three bottles and would cellar them for a couple of years before opening another. However, this is a rock-solid GSM blend that is unmistakably southern Rhone in character. Dark fruits, a bit of olive tapenade, and lots of depth.

Definitely a cut above typical American Pinot Noir. Specifically much more concentration; not the usual anemic fin sour stuff that passes for Pinot. Nose of lilacs and raspberry. Pallet also has prominent fruit but some deep and earthy notes (leather, tapenade? Can't put my finger on it). Basically this is just a really well-made and put together wine, and showing really well right now. If you have this I would drink it soon.

Much better than previous bottles. Had what I can only describe as "profundity"-An intellectually stimulating wine. Fruit wasn't screaming but neither was it MIA. As others have noted, "earthy" notes were prominent on nose & palate, including the "cedar" that Parker refers to in his review of this wine. I suspect bottle variation with this wine. 3 more in the cellar-Fingers crossed!

That said, it followed a glass of Mongeard-Mugneret Les Boudots 2007 and it was striking how contrasting the flavor profiles of the two wines were. It demonstrated what I think wine critics sometimes call "focus"-The absolute precision of flavors and aromas that presumably reflect terroir. This was definitely more earthy than the Les Boudots. Both were outstanding and very memorable. Paired perfectly with roast pigeon breast.

Served by the glass at Lameloise 8/17/2015. I wonder if this is really the same wine as what others have tasted since what I had was mind-blowing. Perfect balance, towering structure, very elegant, satisfying both mind and heart. Perhaps they bottle something different under the same label for export?

Foursquare Amarone with "correct" mouthfeel (unctuous) and nose/palate (raisiny). Drank on a hot day which was a mistake. Good initial impression but will want to see how other bottles fare with a nice steak or hot stew on a cold day...
