Served to me single blind. Slightly floral start with rich fruit, while more restrained flavors of apple, pear and lemon. Good weight and balance with more freshness than many 2009s ( thought it younger), with good ageworthiness.

West of West Wine Festival (West Sonoma Coast Vintners) (City Winery - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Good cross-section of cherry on both nose and palate with good background spice. Comes across at first as lush, but textures really come through from middle to finish. Soft and elegant, but I'd certainly consider this cellarworthy. Very good.

Much like a couple of bottles I opened a few months ago, this is showing mostly black fruit with some blue fruit hints and some alluring dried herb character. Slightly riper than I'd prefer, I expect this might get more interesting as it picks up more nuance.

Started slightly musty and seemingly tired, but red fruit kept brightening up through the entire time this was open. Savory spice from start-to-finish also became more pronounced with good mineral notes. This was one of those rare and really fun wines that got more dense, fresh and energetic over the course of the time it was open. Very good.

Reasonably oxidized, certainly far more advanced than a 2009 purchased last year should perform. Revisited several times over two hours.

Burgundy Dinner with a Friend (Spiaggia - Chicago IL): First time I can ever recall trying this wine and it is stunning. Bright red fruit with intense baking spice. Layers of evolving flavors with great concentration. Unmistakably Vosne from the very first sniff and then unmistakably Grand Cru from the first taste. Great now, but with the bones to cellar for another decade or two.

Burgundy Dinner with a Friend (Spiaggia - Chicago IL): This had been open ~30 minutes before I was served. Reserved aromatics to start, with floral, spice and ripe orchard fruit emerging with more time in glass. Similar flavor profile that also unfolded and expanded with more air. While the flavors and aromas are in the forefront, great textures and energy are equally outstanding. are This is just a baby with great upside potential from here.

West of West Wine Festival (West Sonoma Coast Vintners) (City Winery - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Red cheery and some berry in a lean style I tend to like, but here it comes across as slightly one dimensional. An interesting contrast to the Sonoma Coast just tasted. I am sure this wine expresses it site well, but I don't necessarily find that expression making for a better overall wine.
