Decanted for about three hours. The nose shows lots of mushroom, and some earthy, leathery notes. Very soft on the palate, with almost no tannin. There is quite a bit of plummy fruit, sort of a mix of red and darker fruits. Earthy, with mushroom and very light pencil shavings on the palate. Very nice showing but I think this wine has room for improvement. I'll wait a couple years before opening another.

Popped and poured late in the night so this bottle didn't see much air. Initially very funky on the nose. That quickly blew off but the the nose remained very earthy. Tart, dark fruits on the palate, with soily overtones. The wine is very lean and traditional in style. High acid. More of a food wine than a quaffer. There is about a third of a bottle left to try at lunch today, so I'll add to this note if much changes. I have one remaining bottle that I'll sit on for a while. Better on day two. Still showing some earthy, coffee notes, black fruits and better balance as there seems to be more fruit. Hints of tobacco and mint as well. Needs some air to show its best.

Grilled some filets tonight and decided at the last minute to open a red. I was in the mood for a Carlisle but Ann said she wanted something lower in alcohol. I went down to the cellar and was shocked to see this one at 12.8%. I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the wine tonight but we enjoyed it. Loaded with flavor but offset with nice acid. Didn't notice much tannin. Saved about a third of the bottle so I'll try to add some substance to this note tomorrow. Day 2: last night I re-corked the bottle and stuck it in the refrigerator over night. Tonight there is some spice on the nose, as well as a light coffee, mocha note. The light coffee, milk chocolate note carries through on the palate too but it is in the background. The fruit is mixed in color, and the wine is soft and silky with very light tannin. Light to medium bodied with pretty good acidity. This wine is easy to drink and tasty. I am a fan of the cool 2011 vintage in CA. It's hard for me to say how this wine will age, but it is drinking well right now.

The bottle was decanted for about 4 hours, I think, before being brought to dinner. Light/medium bodied with dark, blacker fruits and accents of licorice/anise, and some light earthy, savory notes. Tasty. Thanks for sharing Ted.

I didn't get to pay much attention to this over dinner but it seemed a little disjointed at first, with a touch of alcohol on the nose. Some apple and honeyed shadings initially and light notes of chenin that I struggle to describe. Seemed to improve with air. I'll pay more attention next time and try to write a better note.

No notes but this was a standout in a Zin tasting that included an 05 Turley Rattlesnake, 07 Chiarello Giana, 09 Outpost, 07 Vieux -Os Hell Hole, 13 Carlisle Sonoma County, 13 Geyserville, and a few others. The Geyserville was also very good but young.

I was worried after reading Tooches note but I thought this showed well. Served at around 60 degrees and popped and poured. Not quite as savory as I remembered but also not a simple fruit bomb. There is a good amount of fruit though, mostly darker in tone. Some smokey, cured meat, slight licorice. A little spice on the nose. Some charred, tarry notes. Good acid on the finish and just a little fine tannin remaining. We enjoyed it. This was my last bottle but I think it will drink well for a couple more years.

Nice Trebbiano. Brisk and lively, with tart green apple, citrus and stoney minerality. Love the nose. As Bob H wrote, there is a seashell, sea breeze note that makes me think of Chablis.

A little too cold at first. Honey glazed citrus and pineapple. Lots of intensity and good balancing acidity. As it warms it retains the honeyed quality but the fruit turns more towards orchard fruit, like apples and pear. A hint of spearmint on the nose now. Lots of saline and a hint of roasted marshmallow on the finish. I'm wondering why I only bought a few at this price. I am going to hold my last bottle for a couple years. Very good.

Last night this was a little over the edge for me in terms of size. Ann loved it however. Today, after half a bottle sat in the fridge over night, it is a little better balanced as the fruit is not quite as powerful and there seems to be more acid. Tonight there are accents of tar and a little maple. Last night it was more bloody. I am going to be more patient with my last bottle as I enjoyed it more today.
