Ripe and fruity. Even seemed a little porty and raisiny at first. A little alc on the nose too. Just a bit of spice and pepper once the wine opens but it lacks the garrigue, spice and funk that I like in CdP. With air it loses the porty, raisin note but remains a bit big and simple. Ann liked it.

Reading some of the other posts, its pretty clear their are different strokes for different folks. Many recent notes say that the fruit is fading, but I think that is one of the reasons we enjoyed it. Clearly CA pinot, but not as big as many can be. The fruit is dark in tone more than red. Somewhat soft and silky, with some black tea, faint earth and bitter dark chocolate tones (Ann thought coffee?). Nothing really stands out and its not extremely complex but it is easy drinking. 14.1% alc. Perhaps a bit overpriced. Paired with grilled salmon.

We've been through a few of these and this is the first one that seemed overly oaky. This bottle followed a tart, dry and crisp Boulay rose so maybe that affected our impression, but neither of us enjoyed this much. I'm curious to see how the next bottle shows.

Pretty good but not as interesting as the Montenidoli Canaiuolo we've been enjoying this summer. This shows more pale red fruits, light melon and less dried herbs and saline. Light, tart and refreshing though and still in the upper echelon of roses to my tastes.

Popped and poured into a decanter near the end of the night so this didn't see as much air as it needed. It was still opening up as we drank it. The cork was pristine, surprisingly, and looked like it could of been from last years vintage. Also, very little sediment. The bottle was sourced from wine bid about a month or so ago. The wine smelled great, with lots of mushroom, leather and tobacco. On the palate, it was elegant, soft and light to medium in weight. Same mushroom, leather, tobacco profile with a little red and darker fruits. As it opened, the wine put on a little more weight and the fruit started to emerge more. I would have liked to have tried this after a few hours of being opened as it may have been better, but we killed the bottle fairly quickly. I'll try to give my other bottle more time to open up. We all enjoyed it. With Eric and Rita.

Decanted for about an hour and it needed it, and perhaps more, as it continued to open as we drank it. Masculine and savory, with spices, crushed pepper, bloody meat, herbs and slight juniper. A little richer than I expected for the vintage but that's not to say it was big or heavy. Very easy drinking. Happy to have more of these to drink over the next ten years or so.

This is a delicious and inexpensive Chablis. Perhaps on the richer, denser side for the region, but offset with balancing acidity and lots of salty, flinty minerality. The 2010 and 2012 vintages of this bottling have become our "house" Chardonnay. I hope I can keep a couple from the case around for a few years to see how they evolve.

I wasn't expecting a whole lot from this based on the notes but we enjoyed it. Not a razor sharp in terms of acid but it was ample and thirst quenching. A hint of flint and some saline accent the citrus and green apple. There was also a touch of butterscotch on the finish but not too much. We polished this bottle off in embarrassingly quick fashion on a nice Friday evening on the patio.

I hardly drink any whites from the US anymore but this is pretty good and interesting. A slight whiff of diesel on the nose that fades with air. Some floral notes too. On the palate the wine is soft textured but then finishes with crisp acidity. Some pear, melon and blanched almond.

I struggle with Riesling that is not Trocken in style. I like the lime and slate notes but the the oily texture, weight and sweetness I struggle with. I can see how this would be a good match with spicy food but I prefer the dry versions for summer sipping. I'll keep trying every once in a while though.

Right from the refrigerator, this was much too cold, and seemed a bit boring and flabby. It really opened up and became more expressive as it neared room temperature. Smells wonderful with salty marine and almond accents. On the palate, there is a bit of richness to the fruit, but it is not tropical. Mostly apple with bit of citrus. Lots of salinity and again a bit of almond. Not laser like in terms of acid, but there is just enough to keep it balanced. We both enjoyed it.

The Favier bottling is one of Ann's favorite wines. This is the first bottle we have tried from the 2011 vintage. Slightly on the leaner/lighter side for this wine and it reminds me a little of the 2008 and 2006 vintages. There is nice acid, red fruits, lots of spice and crushed white pepper. There is just a little alcohol showing through (15.5%). I don't see this as one to age so we will drink our remaining bottles over the next couple years. Ann liked it but didn't swoon over it like she normally does.
