PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs, from 375 mL
-translucent pale gold, fine mousse

-this bottle is just gorgeous and drinking perfectly now

PopnPour, tasted over 3 hrs and day 3
-almost semi-translucent med red
-somewhat restrained dark red fruits and earth with a little funk and spice, creamy component on day 3
-med acidity, med weight and concentration, some cherry fruit stony minerality, med- tannins with a hint of oak appearing on day 3
-nothing flashy but spot on and solidly made with soul, on the serious side but not burly, really pleasant and satisfying, drinking well now with perhaps a bit of upside still

PopnPour, tasted over 3 hrs
-med dark red with the slightest hint of bricking
-raspberry earth spice
-just med acidity, med weight and relatively sappy candied raspberry fruit core still going strong with some black cherry and an earthy undertone, finishes with decent length mellowed tannins and noticeable wood
-drinking well now with the structure suggesting it is on its plateau though I think this may be better in 2-5 years to allow for some additional complexity and more integration of the oak

PopnPour, tasted over 3 hrs
-nearly opaque dark maroon with purple no bricking
-somewhat shy black fruits licorice tar kirsch
-initially med- acidity builds up after 2 hrs to med, med+ concentration delivers authoritative tightly wound black fruits and licorice of average complexity that slowly unfurls over 3 hrs, med+ tannins with decent length
-this bottle a bit closed down now and more somber than a bottle a few months ago, needs some air or 2-3 more years in bottle

PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs
-translucent med gold
-slight reduction, candied lemon
-searing acidity, sappy minerally salty intensity and lime juice at the core with backend grapefruit bitterness, reasonable length if not a lot of complexity
-all about salt and citrus, drinks well now for its sheer intensity and will likely do very well for 5-10 years as it mellows

PopnPour, tasted over 3 hrs, bottle with some seepage
-med red with purple tinge
-lot of reduction funk with some underlying brooding dark cherry
-med acidity, med- weight with med+ sappy concentration in mid-palate featuring some tangy saline slightly funky cherry, hint of astringency with med intensity but supple tannins
-slightly off and a bit shut down right now

1/28/2016 - Cote d'Or wrote: NR

PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs
-nearly semi-translucent med red slight purple no bricking
-crunchy red fruit some burg funk
-higher acidity buffered by moderately sappy core of tangy but ripe high-toned black cherry and some noticeable creamy vanilla oak, med tannins give quite a bit of grip on the moderately long finish
-structurally true to vintage, leaning toward a modern style but not clunky or over-ripe, on the bigger end of the spectrum for Chambolle, still on the upside but drinking much better than the 2010 Chambolle AC this week

PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs

-restrained melange of ripe raspberry strawberry cherry almost jammy, mild reduction funk
-med acidity, med weight med+ concentration, tightly coiled energy if not much complexity with some ripe red fruits and earth, touch of oak, med intensity fine-grained tannins on decently long finish
-pretty substantial for a village Chambolle, shut down now - needs probably 2-5 years more to open up

2000 Domaine Denis Bachelet Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes

Pinot Noir more

1/23/2016 - Cote d'Or wrote: NR

PopnPour, tasted over 3 hrs
-dark red core with moderate bricking
-funk, animale, stewed black cherry and berry, mature element
-lower acidity, med weight and concentration pick up over 2 hrs, subtle somber black fruit remnants and earth, masculine though not brawny, minimal tannins but some sediment provides back end grip
-drinking well squarely in the middle of its maturity plateau, it's animale/sauvage/dark fruit/somber earth/lower acidity/elegant nature makes this very Gevrey, very Bachelet and very 2000

-nearly opaque dark red purple, no bricking
-pretty and somewhat delicate aromatics, juicy, berry, floral
-med/med- acidity, med/med- weight, simple, somewhat faded berry fruits and earth with a little wood, med gritty tannins
-pleasant and honest syrah without frills, while far from over the hill suspect this isn't going to get better than where it is now

PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs and day 2
-nearly opaque dark red
-expressive spicy black cherry, cola
-med acidity, med+ concentration on med weight, exquisite balance and drive, complex darker fruited with apple skin saline mineral oak and sweet black cherry, good length
-still open and drinking well now; on the modern side but has the energy and tension of the vintage and not over-ripe or over the top; not much terroir expression; overall this is very enjoyable and reflects the vintage if less successful in expressing its place; would be concerned that this would be too extracted/flabby in a vintage like '09 but works well in '10

PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs and day 2
-translucent light/med gold
-very slight oxidative note of rancid almond, lanolin, waxy lemon
-high acidity, highly concentrated with med- weight, largely faded fruit with some grapefruit and lemon zest remnants, acid spine and a bitter note carry through to finish, no overtly oxidative flavors, average complexity is good for its level
-stylistically has some resemblance to a hypothetical mix of Billaud-Simon (waxy linearity) and the related V. Dauvissat (acid-dominant sappy citrus), this bottle is probably on or slightly past its plateau now

-slightly muted, no oxidative notes, a little bit of lemon and sea breeze in the background

-regal and elegant, drinking very well now in early maturity

Pinot Noir more

1/12/2016 - Cote d'Or wrote: NR

PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs
-nearly translucent light red nearing rose territory
-moderately aromatic tart cherry and delicate spiciness
-higher acidity makes it very brisk but not quite shrill, lighter weight with med concentration, tart crunchy red cherry dominant mid-palate and stony minerally med/med+ tannins on the ever so slightly rustic finish, OK complexity
-this is really quite pretty right now, especially if matched with foods that will complement the acidity, not likely to improve much with age but certainly seems to have enough structure to drink well for another 5+ years

PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs, bottle from secondary market
-nearly semi-translucent med red with mild bricking
-moderately aromatic pretty cherry/kirsch
-med acidity, barely med weight with hint of residual cherry liqueur fruit, med/med- tannins but noticeable heat on somewhat medicinal finish
-surprisingly light weight and color for a CdP, pretty aromatics, this bottle is probably on its plateau as I'd be concerned the heat will become more prominent as the fruit dissipates further

1/8/2016 - Cote d'Or Likes this wine: NR

PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs
-med dark red core with mild bricking
-'04 funk sweet earthy cherry
-med/med+ acidity, classic power without weight very sappy sweet cherry vegetal stewed tomato and fine bead of minerality, mostly resolved med- tannins and impressive length
-while this couldn't be mistaken for anything but an '04 it is a fantastic wine (with the usual caveat "for those who aren't totally averse to the '04 trait") that truly transcends the vintage and village level, probably at or near peak now but this bottle could easily go strong for 5+ more years

Tasted over 3 hrs
-translucent light gold with interesting faint pink/orange hue
-ripe citrus and coconut
-med+ acidity kicks in late, med/med- weight powerful sappy core that is complex and more mineral/saline than fruit which leans towards a slight tropical note, focused with waxy linearity typical for this producer, excellent length
-on the ripe side, has Grand Cru power and complexity, interesting if not exactly the poster child for Chablis typicity, drinking well now but expect it needs a few years to completely unfurl
