Strawberry and floral nose, great fruit and mouthfeel. One of my favorite rose sparklers.

Cherry and spice on the nose, more red fruit with bramble and some pepper on the palate. Smooth despite the ETOH. Wonderful. Drink or hold for 1-2 years.

Pop n pour. Bit deeper golden hue than expected. Nose of apples and some citrus--touch of toasted oak? Minerals, apples a and butterscotch on the palate. Healthy oak but plenty of acidity. A little tight and I'd recommend hold or decant.

The Brett monster got this one. Still has nice dark fruit, but the red fruit and spice are not there, and the Brett funk takes their spot at the table. Might be an interesting ringer in a Rhone tasting.

Red fruit, spice and some stems on the nose. Cherries and a bit of game on the palate. Acidity restrains the fruit right now. Last glass on day two showed deeper fruit notes. Hold or drink with a good decant.

Huge wine. Good cherry and plum notes, and not over oaked, but monstrous nonetheless. Some ETOH. Good value. Drink now with decant or hold.

Really nice cassis and dark fruit notes, along with some pepper and tobacco. The 4% cab franc rounds it out nicely. Tannins are mostly integrated, and you can finally pop and pour this wine, but the last glass was better the next day.

Pop n pour, a decant would have helped, as it was a bit high toned right out of the gate. But thereafter a really nice zin with some age. Raspberry and a little raisin on the nose, good fruit and some bramble on the pallet. Outside of Ridge I think Novy's Zins hold up best, and retain the Zin character more than Ridge does.

Drank semi-unintentionally, as I meant to grab a 2007 Uvas...pretty tight right now, but very tasty nonetheless. Give it 30 mins in a decanter or hold for 12-18 months.

Nose and front palate are promising, but it does not go well from there. Nice early fruit and spice, but then herbal notes, petrol and tar take over. I don't know if it was just this bottle, but did not track with any specific flaw I've known. This is what you'd expect from a South African Zinfandel, if one existed. Not pleasant.

1st experience with Match. First night it was really, really tight. Lighter red fruits, with some mild oak notes and green olive. On both nights 2 and 3, it really opened up into a great classic Cabernet. Red fruits and mild vanilla were complemented by cedar, a great vegetal component and some floral notes on the nose.

Really nice wine. Fruit is the calling card at this point, but not in an over the top way. I'd give it some air or a couple of years. This wine will be at or near peak for 2-3 years, and should drink well for another couple after that.

Nice wine, if very different wine from the 2008. Dried cherry, other red fruits and some spice. Really smooth going down for being this young. Nice finish. Some blog told me it's 10% pinot, along with 80% Syrah and 80% Grenache. At least on this occasion, the Pinot really sticks out for me. That was a bit of a detractor for me at first -- I was thinking Syrah/Zin field blend when I brought the bottle up. Great QPR -- so much better than what you can grab off the shelves at this price.

7/19/2011 - Montsant wrote: 87 points

This is a pretty big merlot. Lots of red fruit, some plum, a unique cinnamon note, and a good dollop of oak. A nice Tuesday quaffer, but not my style, at least not this young. There were some pretty prominent tannins, so this might have some life in it. I still don’t see the rest of the wine lasting as long as the fruit though. Drink now with some air, or hold for 1-3 years.
