Really lovely stuff! This wine has a stunning depth and acidity that make you want to repeatedly keep grabbing your glass and sipping more. Honey and flowers on the nose, finish is long with lemon, green apple, and the lightest hint of mint and oak.

Agree...this has peaked and is on the backside. Still drinkable, and enjoyable in the context of a daily drinker, but wouldn't sit on these much longer as I don't see any upside to waiting.

Beautiful. My first '95 Cos, everything I love about Bordeaux. No detailed notes taken as I was too busy enjoying the company, but not a single gap in the palate or the nose, slow O'd for about 60 min and enjoyed over another hour. Wish I had more...

Actually, this still has something going for it. I wasn't too optimistic, but it has solid fruit that is loosing a bit of ground to the alcohol at this point, but 20 min in the glass with some air and it was a great little Syrah. Drink em up, but don't be afraid to pair with some burgers or ribs and expect a pleasant quaff.

What a great wine! This was a Secret Santa gift from someone who knew I enjoyed Syrah and liked Old World...but had very few Italian wines. Off the hook good and an eye opening exposure to Tuscan Syrah...I paired this with fresh pasta w/Oregon white truffles and poached eggs...it killed with the pairing! An old world nose and mouth feel, with the strength of Syrah in the background, I loved this wine and wish I had more.

Ahhhhh...Reva. Like a Siren's song...

Pop n pour on night one, about 1/3 bottle, so lovely but still a bit tight. 2nd night, this is just singing. The palate is insane, notes of cigar, blackberry, cherry, even hints of eucalyptus and tar. I literally cannot find a hole between the front-mid-back palate, this is so smooth and balanced. Acids and alcohol in check, it just makes me smile. An incredible wine, absolutely delightful.

7/22/2014 - Hollowine wrote: NR

While I'm pretty sure anyone with this wine in their cellar wouldn't give a rats arse over what RP wrote about this wine, I still find his review to be one of my all time favorites showing tones of bitterness, overt egoism, and a dose of overdramatic sensationalism. But enough about that...

My first Mount Mary, shared with a winemaker friend with a great palate. Everything I hoped it would be and nothing like the aforementioned review. Would have been a good ringer for a '95 Pauillac, lovely secondary notes on opening that evolved into a bright fruit, lovely wine with notes of cherry, eucalyptus, cigar box, etc.

Love what the Yarra can produce in the right winemakers hands...very good.

So young! Knew this was baby killing, but the bottle was handy, was having dinner with my Physicist buddy, and wanted to bring a nice bottle.

Awesome juice Billo and Pinto! Tight as heck for 90 min, started opening up to that lovely DuBrul fruit, was so well balanced. Gave a sample to the Morton's Somm who was quite impressed, waived corkage and came back for more.

Don't open with less than 2 hours air, probably better in 4-8 years or with a half day decant...

I tend to be a bit conservative in my tasting notes/scores which, when pondering this TN, poses a dilema. This may be the best Syrah I've tasted all year...maybe one of the best wines. Period. I literally cannot put this wine down. Birthday bottle, opened and drank over two nights, with consistent notes and pleasure.

Nose of Dark fruits, campfire smoke, wet stones. Palate is a 30 second journey from Boysenberry to tar to black cherry back to herbal and hardwood notes. Not a hint of high alcohol or any flaw, could easily have gone a few more years and wish I had more to see. In the past couple of months I've enjoyed many Alban, SQN, Cayuse, Chave...This Lillian holds it's own and stands tall among the best. Fantastic work Maggie...beautiful.

2005 K Vintners Ovide En Cerise Vineyard

Walla Walla Valley Red Blend more

5/20/2013 - Hollowine Does not like this wine: 70 points

It's a shame to think that these grapes came from En Cerise, because I love that vineyard and this wine is the antithesis of what I want in a wine or what I would expect from EC Vineyard.

Stewed Prunes about sums it up. I couldn't even drink past two small sips. I went and opened an '04 Two Hands Barossa Shiraz just as a reference point for over-the-top Syrah and it is damned near refined in comparison.

Bought on release and stored properly since purchase, It isn't flawed as in 'oops'...it is just plain flawed wine.

A little flat on opening, but with slow-o for 2 hours this really started to sing. I'm not sure I could ask more from a $20 bottle...bright deep fruit, nice balance, long mouth-watering finish. Great drink but I'm not leaving any for tomorrow night as others have done.

In a great drinking window now, give it some air and enjoy!

Huge fruit on opening, then died off rapidly. Two hours in and it is ok with some fruit recovery, but a bit thin and acidic.

This is past prime and heading downhill. If you pop it now and drink fast you can recoup some enjoyment.

Drank at Bern's in Tampa, so this had been sitting there some time in their crazy cold cellar.

I knew the day would come. I didn't want to admit it, and it was financially convenient to avoid it, but I knew one day my Burgundy epiphany would come. I think that may have been last night with this bottle...

Popped and decanted for sediment, high neck fill and beautiful scarlet-orange in color. The first whiff took me straight to that place I've heard about...a mix of roses, iron/blood, cut fields. The palate was alive, but clearly an aged wine, a clean fruit with a decent finish.

I had to step outside for a phone call and returned to my glass 20 min later...

On returning I reached for my glass and took a sip...and just about fell back out of my chair...intense cherry and mineral on the palate, this was 10x the wine it had been before. It kept changing through the 90 min dinner, never really getting better or worse, but just showing it's different facets. Stunning. I don't care much about whether this was the best vintage, vineyard, etc...this was the wine I knew would come someday...yesterday.

Stunning. One of the best wines I've had all year, that truly remarkable. The nose and palate on this are so complex, just when I think it's settled into a groove it gives off something new. Blackberry, tar, cinnamon, pepper, it just goes and goes and the finish is beautiful not a whiff of heat. Drank over two nights and not a bit of fading on night two. A great way to celebrate the start of my 44th trip around the sun...
