Half a bottle consumed - no note recorded - then chucked into the fridge for 36 hours then driven down the coast 707km and the second half pulled out with lamb chops...aromas of red berries - especially strawberries and slight cherries - with biscuit, vanilla, toast and a slight sweet tobacco note. In the mouth the wine is rich with the same on the palate as on the nose, though the fruit is more savoury. The tannins are quite fine and resolved. I do find it slightly spirituous though. Still, it's a pretty nice. I'm surprised (impressed) that the wine withstood the battering as well.

121 BC Saturday tasting (121 BC, Sydney): Slight dusty and slight oxidised notes, black plum over black cherry, spice, quite dense, slight cedar notes. In the mouth the wine is juicy with savoury plums and cherry fruit. Thick, chewy, dense tannins that persist and join the fruit which all carries on the long finish. A second tastes reveals some cream and very slight vanilla as well. nice but needs, say, 3-5 years to integrate further and develop some more complexity.

In the mouth the wine has juicy acidity, green appeal and pear, quite lightly textured and dry on the mid palate that close the wine down a little, resulting in some muted savoury spice. Meh.

WSET fun part 2 (The Lobby): Colour: Clear, ruby, medium intensity, some legs
Aroma: Clean, medium plus intensity, developing with aromas of ripe blackcurrant, ash, bonfire, smoke, vanilla, chocolate, biscuit and some red plum.
Mouth: A dry wine with medium acidity, medium intensity fine talc textured tannins that is quite drying on the mid palate. Medium plus warming alcohol, medium bodied - quite linear and front to back of mouth, lacks breadth, medium plus flavour intensity with flavours of slight peppery spice, black currant, cream and vanilla on the medium plus finish with some alcohol warmth
Quality: Good, though the alcohol is a little intrusive there are plenty of primary and secondary characteristics to add complexity and the length, aromas and flavours are all medium plus intensity

WSET fun part 2 (The Lobby): Colour: Clear, ruby, medium intensity, plentiful tears
Aromas: Clean, developing, medium plus intensity wine with aromas of tobacco leaf, blackcurrant, crushed rocks, brambles, cloves, pencil shavings graphite, cedar and sweet spice.
Mouth: A dry wine, with medium plus acid, medium plus chewy slight drying tannins, medium alcohol, medium plus broad body, medium plus flavour intensity with flavours of blackcurrant cream, bramble and cedar which persist on the medium plus finish and accompanies the aforementioned tannins.
Quality: Good. Primary and secondary characteristics and the beginning of tertiary characteristics, complexity and intensity of flavours both on the nose and palate and the relative balance of these, the acidity and tannin point to a good wine. It doesn't make outstanding because of the slight lack of length.

Purchased after research and with crossed fingers from an Auction (no provenance provided). Cork was immaculate so I took the risk and this was drawn from Coravin. Autumn leaves, bonfire, meat, leather, biscuit and spice over muted black cherry and plum fruit. With time cream, vanilla and almost mocha notes. In the mouth the wine is juicy with muted leather, earth, sweet plum and sweet spice flavours. The tannins are more of a gentle burring across the tongue. It's not particularly broad or massively chunky but just sits there, comfortably, in the mid palate. And stays there long with a gentle warmth. It's pretty good.

From Coravin. The colour is quite deep burnished gold...almost brass. Fig, bees wax, almond, marzipan, perhaps a tiny touch of oxidation and honey notes. With time a biscuit note as well as a tiny touch of meatiness. In the mouth there is honey, fig, a slight mid palate burr, almonds, quite waxy texture as well. It's a little warm on the very long finish. I find this quite lovely.
