7/22/2012 - rcmcb wrote: 92 pointsSolid, with black fruit playing the lead and some subtle red fruit underneath. We drank this over a 6-hour period, and it went strong the whole time, so no rush on this despite being ten years old. Nice tannin structure. Spicecake notes in the secondary flavors. |

6/1/2012 - rcmcb wrote: 92 pointsThe PS really shows. Very nice tannin structure and brambly fruit you can only get with a RRV zin. Great pizza wine--will be good for at least another 5 years. |

4/16/2012 - rcmcb wrote: 94 pointsIf you survey my reviews, it's pretty clear that I am no fan of overt oak, so I was a bit concerned that this Clio would turn out to be an oak monster. However, I found it to be delicious and well balanced for such a big wine--just the right amount of tannins to act as a counterweight to the fruit, and enough acid to hold it all together and avoid being a total fruit bomb. Really great for bold cheeses or steak. Personally I would not wait on this. |

4/15/2012 - rcmcb wrote: 88 points88-89. Not objectionable, but boring. The PS, even at 18%, did not create structure. The Zin did not add spice or complexity. Cal-Ital is a nice idea, but this drank like the 4-euro jug of wine you get at a restaurant in Italy, not a $30 bottle of Dry Creek Zin. |
