Once again, just gorgeous, and my WOTN. Expressive red fruits showed a lot of florals on the nose and generous yet juicy palate flavors. A bit of earthiness made this feel like a complete wine, very harmonious and early in its prime. Certainly supports my feeling that this is year in and year out one of the top American pinot noirs being made.

Opened with a distinct smoky mineral note on the nose that some people tasting double blind took as petrol, though I disagreed. That threw a lot of people off but I thought the wine showed fine and reasonably consistent with prior bottles, with a recognizable tart lemon character but also more richness than Ceritas sometimes shows. Definitely 2nd in the flight to the Louis Michel Tonnerre, though.

Good - controlled sweetness with a bit of spritz at this point. Hold remaining bottles for as long as possible. 90+ considerable upside for the future.

Tasted double blind, most of the group thought this was champagne. Complex with a nuttiness in the palate. Not quite as bright as the Vimart Grande Cuvee poured with it.

Has a terrific nose of red fruits, earth, exotic spice and autumn leaves. The palate doesn't quite live up to that initial promise: flavors and tannins are a bit rustic and rough, in a way that is recognizable as Cote de Beaune rather than Cote de Nuits. Cherry licorice flavors with a touch of greenness that reflect the 2007 vintage well prevent this wine from having the generosity to be exceptional. The Grand Cru origin of this wine shows a bit in the texture, which is smoother than the average villages-level Beaune. Consumed over several nights, so got plenty of time and air to open up. Nice wine, but only on par with a good solid CdN villages, I would say. Priced appropriately; certainly has more time but not a shame to open now.

Tasted six months after first accessing by Coravin, this was perfectly preserved, with consistent notes. The fruit is ripe and sweet, without being over the top; the tannin doesn't seem to take over the way it did when last tasted though. Perfectly enjoyable, but I do palpably feel that while I still enjoy this style of wine once in a while, it's an increasingly rare craving that I have.

Drinking like a very solid village Chambolle with typicity - silky mouthfeel, transparency, some signs of maturity and tertiary development. In its drinking window: I probably wouldn't hold these beyond a few years at this point, however. Objectively 90ish but I enjoyed it like a more accomplished wine just because it did its job so well.

Still a bit early to have this wine but after a few nights recorked in the fridge, this showed very well. Nice floral aromas, silky mouthfeel, good fruit with a balance of generosity and crunch. Has potential to be really exceptional in maturity, maybe in 3-5 years? 92+

Very good and showcases what makes Ceritas chardonnay among my favorites in California. Lemony fruit with juicy acid, some oak detectable but the overall impression is crisp and clean. Better than the bottles of Porter Bass chard that I've had, and very close in quality to the Heintz, my favorite Ceritas bottling.

Dark, nutty with caramel flavors and strong brett. One of my first comments was that this beer tastes quite wine-y, and then looking at the bottle I saw that it was aged in wine barrels. In the end, the brettiness is just too strong for me to really enjoy this otherwise interesting beer.

Lovely nose of florals and earth. Palate doesn't quite live up to the nose but has typicity and is quite enjoyable. Finished with a touch of bitter peppercorn green but you'd be hard pressed to call it a flaw as opposed to simple vintage character. Last few 2011s I've had have shown very well. I don't drink a lot of Chorey but this was nice.

This contrasts with the Panther Creek's darker fruits - here you find tart red fruits and bit of a nutty caramel note that I often find in Oregon pinot. The tannins are decidedly less resolved than those in the Panther Creek, so it's hard to get behind them and get a true read on this wine. A few more years will probably clear this away. Nice but not in the pocket yet.

A real treat to have this - thanks Chris G. Right away in the glass the look of this wine portends the black-fruited flavors you will encounter. On the nose, unfortunately, this bottle showed a bit of oxidation. On the palate though, this is composed and elegant, with an earthiness that is uniquely Oregon. Given the black-fruited quality this reflects great restraint in the ripeness level. Notes of charcoal smoke and a bit of spice are very subtly in there as well. Very nice wine and easy winner on the night. Would love to know if other bottles out there are able to avoid the slight oxidation on the nose, in which case this wine would be even higher on my scale.

Bought after hearing all the comparisons to Chambolle, which turn out to be apt only as it relates to the smooth texture of this wine. Otherwise, this wine is much more savory than Chambolle of similar age. Likeable but not sure if I will rush to buy more at the $38 price level.

Confounding wine in a way - thought right away this had a hint of TCA but went back and forth on it, having it over two nights. Smelled like faint TCA but the palate is expressive, with acid out front but also delicious fruit at times. the TCA smell didn't get progressively worse, as it usually does. I'm usually pretty confident about calling corked wine but this one had me asking: Can a wine be this stemmy to almost smell like TCA?

From 375, this was a pleasant surprise off a restaurant wine list. Appealing nose of floral red fruits, powder, and anise with some oak showing. On the palate, primary and smooth. Not much spice showing, and enough acidic balance to please a Burg drinker like me. True to reputation, a lighter-styled CnDP. 91-92

Now opened the rest of the bottle; like last time, this is very primary with blackcurrant fruit and fares better with a day long decant. Won't reach the level of the 06 for me in terms of earthy elements in addition to the fruit, I suspect, but we shall see with remaining bottles in the cellar. Shows a tad hot at times. The Coravin preserved this bottle well for a six-month span.
