The wine is now at the in between stage, no longer fresh and youthful but not yet at the lovely well aged sauternes level. Its on the right path for sure. A very nice wine but lacked the definition and could use a bit more acidity. Good but not very good. 89

From magnum of course and decanted for a couple of hours. Much needed aeration but also needs to remove the fine sediment this wine has. We served it to a set of die hard Bordeaux lovers (from Bordeaux actually) and they all commented that should this was blind they would have said its from there. Definitely we see the choice of name of this grape as indeed it felt like a Cab Sauv/Merlot blend with light green pepper, dark fruits, light leathery. It had a notch more of ripe fruit than a Bordeaux almost similar to a new world touch. Very elegant and balanced wine at the start of its drinking window. A 93+ for now with capacity to go higher as it ages further.

From magnum. Albeit the 1999 & 98 are to us the best Sassicaias to drink at this stage the 2002 is surely the price/quality "arbitrage" and even from this humble year a magnificent wine.
Soft, elegant and balanced, yet with nice acidity and firm core of fruit this an impressive wine worthy of the pedigree. A sheer jot to have now and granted it doesn't have the depth of flavour of bigger vintages but the "lightness" of it adds a different dimension. A solid 93 again and probably now at its peak.

Two very consistent bottles. Very nicely balanced, round feel, not too rich in any way albeit it did feel to have a bit of higher dosage. A very good al rounder and will not disappoint. Lacks the complexity to score above 90 for us.

Quite the surprise of the evening as the wine was a effectively more old than new world barring a few high alcohol notes. We do always look for these more elegant Napa Cabs at this price range vs the overdone monsters we usually cross paths. Quite nice and balance wine, elegant. Green pepper, light savory wine, nice acidity, Good fruit but in harmony with the other elements. A good find. 89-91

The oak and the lower acidity pointed to a more new world style vs the other 2 wines we had. But had it been on its own we could have easily said this was a Rhone white. Very much is that. Good weight and colour, signature rhone white blend "bitterness" decent acidity, light oak notes. A nice surprise. 87

We definitely put it down as the Rhone but we were ready to put money this was a 100% viognier. The low acidity, the banana on the nose the light honey for us all pointed to viognier. but it wasn't. A good little number. 88

Grassy, sauvignon blanc dominated wine (later we found out its almost 90%). Almost no colour. Very high acidity, very cool climate wine and we picked it as the Bordeaux with certainty. Maybe it needs time but for now it has quite a few harsh edges for us. 86

This was surprisingly dominated rich and with a bit sweet fruit. Albeit our experience with 2008 Burgs is limited we would have expected this wine to have been a lot more restrained on the fruit front. This actually felt a lot more like a new world Pinot (without the over sweet core and rich spice notes) , had quite a bit of weight and felt really primary. May be its just that its still very young but lets just say it was not inspiring. 90

Quite a restrained wine, focussed and a bit austere at times. The fruit is very much present but not rich in any way and its more of a mineral & linear in a way. Similarly the oak is really used with the lightest touch. A good wine but could have used a bit more depth and general palate presence. 91

Quite a bit of dark colour still, nice rich dark fruits, light earthy undertone. The fruit has new world weight but not new world sweetness. Good dark fruits, a bit light on the acidity we felt. Well round silky tannin. A very solid 92. Drink now

Zinfandel with 9% Carignan, bottled in Jan 2011 and albeit a special project by Ridge they did make 46 barrels of it! 15% new American oak seasoned for 5 years ( tbh to us it felt like French oak as it had no exotic feel) and apparently at 13.5% the lowest alc for their Zins ever.
Blind tasted and we thought it was Priorat, with its ripe fruit , heat, extract and forward rich fruit. Never thought this was California and thought the modern feel of it was due to a modernist winemaker. A very interesting wine with a lot of history. 91 and give it a few more years.

Well round, lig spice, good red fruits. Fine tannin and feels like it's well into its drinking window. Very nice but really atypical. 92-94

Andreas who had this blind said within a few minutes Mouline or Chave early 2000. The signature toasty meat coupled with elegance and purity was the key factor. This is truly a majestic wine at the start of its drinking window and can only but improve. We could be talking about this for a long time. 97 for now but could easily be 100 in a few years.

Although usually approach SQN whites with caution this was a very nice surprise. Very much the Rhine white it sets out to be, evolved but still with some fresh feel to it. Felt a lot older than a 2008 vs a Rhine white and we would have guessed a lot older if it was blind. Nice waxy texture, very nice acidity , lovely ripe fruit. Light citrus, mineral edge. Very good and better have this sooner than later. 94

Definitely and interesting and well made wine from one of the best winemakers the country has to offer.
First idea was that this was a new world pinot noir or make Grenache. Had its ripe fruit, almost jammy and at times light "porty". Surprisingly a light wine on palate with very light tannin. Interesting but not a great wine. 88-90quite a bit of spice, cloves and all.

Quite a the new world Pinot it promises to be but even for non lovers of the style this wine has a quite nice fluidity and balance in its richness. Ripe, rich, sweet core of fruit, spice. Felt like in a good time wrt its drinking window. A bit of heat on the finish. As with all this type of Pinots they become a bit too difficult after some time but maybe it's just because it's not our style. From our point of view an 89

Quite a dark colour, quite a bit of spice of the nose, sweet red fruit, quite ripe a and touch on the sweet side on the palate. Spice once again, some heat and a bit not fully integrated and happy with itself. Maybe its because it's a young wine but did not strike us a Inge of the level we come to expect from Mullineux. 85

Having tried this before and really liked it ( Papies 91) we have it one more. Once again it did not disappoint with a firm core of fruit, a touch of a waxy texture, lots of depth of flavour and nice length. We could only but imagine how this wine evolves but would love to cross paths again with it in a few years, maybe in an airline lounge again... 90-91

The wine feels quite evolved with an almost mature and ripe fruit feel across. The acidity is still there but this felt more fatty , earthy and round than mineral and stony that we would expect. A nice wine moving into a secondary phase and we would suggest having it sooner than later while it still harbours some freshness. 89
