Deep and rich aromas leap from the glass, this isn't shy or retiring, it's full flavoured darker cherry with some savoury development, still a little sweet and forward fruit, the tannins have all but disappeared but there's still fairly good acidity and the finish is long and quite refreshing. Tasty juice and could hold a little longer.

Really opened up after a couple of hours decanted. Quite dark cherry fruit wafts from the glass, it's got some development but is still vibrant. The fruit is more pronounced on the palate with plenty of mouthwatering acidity, the finish is really quite long and tangy. I think this should last a good few more years in this showing, but is lively drinking after a bit of air

The wine had only soaked 1cm into the cork. Plenty of fine sediment, needs a careful decant and we didn't so it was a bit muddy looking.
Plenty of leather, tobacco and sour cherries all intertwined. Quite fresh but plenty of development, will keep for longer but not sure how much more it will improve

Mid golden in colour. The nose is showing some evolution. It's still got some citrus acidity, and that just holds the palate together, it's definitely mature Chardonnay with a lovely depth of flavour and finish, I'm glad I took a chance on one of these bottles as this is delicious

Developing nicely, it's got a good bit of diesel on the nose, the palate fairly round and honied with noticeable residual sugar but it doesn't feel too sweet, it benefits from a bit of air just to open up, nice finish

Very slight fading at the rim, still looking quite youthful. It's quite a chunky Rioja, the tannins are almost resolved but it seems a little clumsy, especially for a 2001 and lacks the balance of some of its peers, the fruit almost seems a little cooked and a bit pruney and the finish a little hollow, all this said, it's not unpleasant, just not a great wine.

9 months on from the last note, coravined a glass. Still quite a youthful nose of bright Syrah fruit, blackberry particularly with some earthy character. The palate is pretty smooth with good depth of flavour and finish. Not masses of acidity now and unsure how this will age, I'll report back in time.

The cork had sunk around 1/3 cm and was soaked all the way through but came out just about in 1 piece. Fairly light in body and bricked right through, there was very little fine sediment to decant off. The nose is almost all secondary leather and gamey notes but the palate has plenty of bright red cherry and raspberry fruits along with the more developed leather and forest floor elements. This has quite a bit of freshness to it, much more so than the previous bottle but could still do with a little more length if I'm being fussy.

Decanted for around an hour. Dark and still youthful looking. The nose has some cedar and a little high toned fruit. The tannins are almost resolved, the fruit could be a bit more generous, but there's decent depth of flavour with earthy black currants, there's a medium length finish. Not a bad wine, in fact it's quite pleasant, but not very exciting either, maybe more age will bring more complexity

Very gently decanted just before serving but there was surprisingly little sediment. The wine hadnt soaked very far into the cork, maybe a 1/4 inch not much more. Bricking is eating into the rim but the colour of the wine is still bright and jewel like. The aromatics just leap out of the glass, there's some leather and tobacco development mixed with some fairly high toned ripe cherry fruit and delicate floral notes. The palate is amazingly fresh we for a wine of its age, and tastes more like a 10 year old wine not a 36 year old wine, there's plenty of fruit as well as the more savoury developed side, but in great balance, there's nothing tired here. Only the end of the fine tannins remain but that extra little bite just adds to the pleasure and stops it feeling too soft. This was a cracking bottle that was obviously well stored for many years, what brunello is meant to be about. I think similarly well kept bottles could stay on this plateau for quite a few years. (I've only just noticed that this was the Riserva bottling rather than the normale)

Fairly dark in colour but light in body. The nose is quite pretty cherry fruit with a very slight candy edge to it a pond a pinch of spice. It's quite light in the mouth with more cherries and fair acidity. The tannins are barely detectable, the finish is decent length with a little earth.

Decanted for an hour. This is really starting to do the mature rioja thing now, leather, tobacco, earth and sweet cherries, plenty of acidity, still a waft of VA, the tannins have all but melted away, this is really great but could still improve a bit more, but even if it's doesn't it will hold for plenty more years

Medium light body, lots of bricking through this wine, fully mature and probably slightly past it's best. Still a tasty wine but much more development and savoury flavours than fruit, if you like that in a wine its a treat to get a Moulin a Vent with this much age. It was a very reasonable price from Chambers St Wines NY

Decanted for an hour or so. The colour doesn't show much signs of ageing, just fading a touch to the rim. The nose is lovely with cassis, eucalyptus, fresh cut flowers and a little leather. The palate isn't quite so expressive, the tannins have all but been resolved, just a little grip left, otherwise it's a decent mature Margaux.

This was fuller in body than we expected, no decanter so. Carefully poured as it looked like there was a bit of sediment. The nose showed some good development with an earthy savoury side to it, the palate felt much younger and still had a little bite of tannin and some fairly strong acidity. It improved with air over and hour or 2 and with food, If had more I'd keep a little longer to see if the palate improves more but this was pretty tasty as it is although it's better at the dinner table than alone

3 years in the cellar. The colour his light gold, the foam disappears fairly fast, still plenty of fizz but a bit softer. The nose has a little development. The palate has good flavour on the attack, pleasant mousse but is a bit hollow, the finish is ok and seems to improve with a bit of air. I'M not too keen on Moët generally and this has developed a bit more interest, but is no more than ok for my tastes.
