Greek wine tasting at 67 Pall Mall: 8% Syrah with xinomavro. Older vines of around 60 years. Plenty on the nose, mid weight, medium light bodied, chunkier tannins, needs plenty of time to soften and integrate.

Medium body. A fairly decent nose and first taste reminds me a little if Sangiovese but there's an aftertaste which is more like Chanel no 5.

1st of a case, so time to look see how this wine is getting on. Decanted for a good hour or more. Medium body, some fading at the edge. This has some earthiness in the nose, in the mouth it's still quite youthful, bags of acidity and sweet cherry fruit, there's a savoury edge on the mid palate and a medium finish, give this a bit more time if you can, it's approachable mow, but should give more in time.

Best after an hour in a decanter. Quite dark in colour, fading a touch at the rim and still looks fairly young. Starting to drink now but the nose far out performs the palate at this stage. Ripe red and dark cherries with a side of earth are the aromas, there's decent concentration and weight in the mouth, some fairly fine tannins remain, it's feels there's more to give flavor wise so I think we should leave this for another year or longer before trying again but this seems to have all the elements needed to develop further

Pleasant enough without really impressing, decent cab franc fruit. Unsure if it has enough stuffing to develop for the long term, but will keep and find out in time.

Smells a little raisin-y to start, but give this an hour of air and it's quite nicely balanced, with a potato tarte tartin and a cep jus the acidity come through really well. It's mature and with no real tannins left to resolve. It's going to be a fairly big wine, but has some elegance and a decent finish, just drink with some appropriate food and it's lovely, a bit too much for my palate on its own.

Definitely ready now, lacking a bit of ripeness and depth, but not a bad wine, nose better than palate. I'm not convinced it will improve too much more but it did benefit from a little air so will keep for a few more years at least

After reading some favourable reviews I thought it was worth broaching a bottle. Medium body with a dark core, fading towards the rim. Strong legs. The nose is quite deep toned, some cherry, but also some new leather. The palate has some fine tannin and medium + acidity, it's fairly savoury with a nice long finish for its level. Starting to drink and with a few years at least in hand

On opening this was bright and fairly juicy, some floral elements as well as some brambly fruit, it had some good character. After about 2 hours it had gained a very reductive stinky nose and the palate had closed right up and was borderline unpleasant, im leaving the last 1/3 to see if it improves or fades. Undecided on this showing.

Fairly youthful looking. The nose is a bit high toned, but also of dried fruits and tobacco with a bit of plum, it really leaps from the glass. The palate still has some fine grained tannins and tastes younger than the nose suggests, lots of depth of flavour and a pretty long finish, it's probably on just starting to drink well and has a long life ahead

From magnum. Decanted for a short while and drank over a few hours. A little Syrah stink on the nose to start with and took 45-60 mins to clean up, although it wasn't too much of a problem, some smokiness here, quite appetising. Quite rich and smooth to drink, tannins pretty much resolved, it feels quite balanced with a fair depth of flavour, decent without impressing too much. It tastes like it will last a few more years, I think the drinking window is a little conservative but it won't be a long term wine either.

Bricking is eating into the wine, almost fully resolved tannins and a nice mix of secondary flavours and fruit, nice length of flavour but missing a bit of acidity, 14.4% but has a touch of the Bordeaux about it
