Allowed to breathe in bottle 30 minutes, then tasted over three hours to follow its progression without decanting. Initial light-medium ruby-brick red, gaining a deeper darker red tint after the first hour. Beautiful bouquet of red cherries and mixed red berries, earth, spice box, with hints of black truffles, juniper berries, pine resin, and clean barnyard. Smooth and balanced on the palate, bright and fresh, pleasantly tart, delicious.

Initial whiff of cigars and barnyard, quickly blooming into a lovely bouquet of red currants and cassis, forest floor, roasted chestnuts, also with mushrooms, black truffle, dried herbs, and hints of fresh mint and lavender. Silky and refined on the palate, medium body, balanced, sophisticated. Continued to improve over three hours. Classic fully mature bordeaux.

Similar on the palate, full body, balanced, chalky mouth-coating tannins, long finish. Reminiscent of a nice zinfandel, but with more tannin and acidity. Held up nicely for four days in refrigerator under vacuum stopper.

It was the #1 red wine of the night for two people and the #3 red wine for three others.

First of three bottles; I don't regret opening this at age 20, but will wait several years before the next bottle.
