Medium garnet with ripe strawberry nose. Tart berry & cherry fruit, a bit too fruity the first couple nights for my tastes. Developing a more austere profile with some time, sour cherry with stone fruit bitter with chewy tannins on the finish.

Medium ruby with some cedar and ripe strawberry nose. it takes a few days to come good after a not too balanced beginning. Most of this vintage has a bright red berry profile, but this is more fruity, pie cherry filling and roast beef. Light acid and tannins with a little bitter on the finish. This one never improved like the others leading me to believe it suffered some heat damage.

Dark ruby with some cola on the nose. Drinking well after being open for several days. A bit of tart fruits initially, one has integrated into a very smoothly drinking wine, medium fruit with light acid and tannins.

Light garnet, dark salmon color with strawberry, tart cherry nose. Open an hour, tart mineral, tart strawberries & red currants. Medium body and fruit, definitely on the AFWE spectrum and drinking like a heavy rose, well balanced with an emphasis on the acid. Liking this a lot after another hour, a good lower 11.11% Alc. summer wine.

Dark garnet with cedar, purple fruit nose. On the PnP, tart red currants, medium fruit with cedar tannins. Quite fresh and lively with an acid focus, some lemon, tart strawberry and tobacco notes for complexity developing with air in the glass. Very nice on the first night, looking for better on night two. I love the acid which should keep this going for some time. open for an hour, the wine has integrated into a well balanced acid driven, light fruited with soft tannins wine. Drinking very well and quite enjoyable.

Dark ruby with ripe plum nose. Lightly dry with some mineral and bitter tannins. A little raw on the PnP, but after a night has smoothed out nicely, medium fruit and body, stemmy whole cluster tannins could use some more time to integrate. Drinks better with food at this time, I do not seem to appreciate WA Merlot that much at this time. Definitely better with food, ham & cheddar on olive ciabatta pops it up a couple of points.

Medium light ruby light red fruit nose. Tart, dry with light fruit of strawberries and red currants, light chewy tannins. Drinking like a Cab Franc Bourgueil with some mineral and restrained fruit. I'm liking these wine starting with the '10s. Still going strong after another couple of days, very soft and velvety mouthfeel with acid and tannins balancing the restrained fruit.

Dark ruby with Kirch nose. Off dry, some tart chewy tannins on the PnP. Bold fruit, ripe cherries. Would work with a nice steak or roast beef, lamb or duck. On night two this is showing some good acid with tart dark berry, cherry. Fuller body without being jammy because of the acid, some lightly bitter tannins on the finish which keeps the score lower. Drinking darn good tonight, cherries with a little iodine, well integrated and balanced, just good and well balanced on the lightly fruity side.

Dark ruby with cedar and red plum nose. Dry with oaky tannins on the PnP. Fairly bold fruit and body. Much more CA then OR with strong mineral component. More in the style of John's Syrahs than an AFWE OR Pinot, strong oak balances the fruit with minimal acid, just a little bitter note. 89 on the PnP. Drinking well now for fruit lovers, I will let the my others rest a while to see if they develop more restrained characteristics. One night later and the wine has blossomed, getting a meaty roast beef flavor. Lightly tart berry balanced with some chewy tannins having some noticeable oak in the background.

Medium garnet with bramble nose. Dry tart fruit, acid is the dominant component with the fruit filling in the background. Food is essential for the best showing. Some tart cheese on focaccia is particularly a good pairing. I like with food, without not so much. Really coming into it's own with another night. Not quite so tart red berry with a nice mineral element to the lightly integrated tannins. Paired very well with some lightly tart cherry pie. Clear and focused, great for the acid heads, jammy fruit lovers stear clear. 89 on the PnP, up a couple pts with time & air.

Light ruby with strawberry nose. Dry, tart fruit of strawberries and red currants with slight spritz on the opening. Soft acids with a slight mineral tinge, tannins are light and perfectly integrated, restrained, focused, very refreshing and drinking smoothly. Will work very well as a summer red with ham, chicken and sharp cheddar. I love the tart red berry and low 12% alc.

Light amber gold with tart honey nose. Demi sec with some flinty mineral, medium fully integrated fruit and tannins balanced by light acid and some residual sweetness. Very smooth and drinking nicely for a 42 year old wine I made in the early years, mostly used for cooking now as a chicken or pulled pork marinade, but can hold it's own with the best. I now let the pros make wine and I drink it with great appreciation of their endeavors.

Medium garnet, smoky nose. Dry, tart berry with chewy tannins, medium fruit and body, ripe strawberries with some flinty mineral. Well balanced with prominent though restrained acid. Drinking well. A little more fruit than I like, but not jammy and somewhat restrained though far from austere. The fruit has settled down, showing cola and tobacco tonight, nicely balanced acid and light chewy tannins.

Dark ruby with iodine nose. Fruity with a bit of heat, bold body and fruit, roast beef, some acid for balance and chewy tannins. Just a bit too jammy for me now. Finally either my taste buds have come back or the wine has come around. Much more to my liking tonight. Still more full body and fruit driven than I prefer now, but a very good wine for those liking that style. Good acid to balance the fruit with many more years ahead for development.
