4/13/2010 - Paul Lin wrote: 86 pointsGiven the uncertainty of these Neocorks, I thought it would be wise to start drinking through my stash. Upon popping and pouring, I was greeted with an intriguing nose of cola, orange peel, mushrooms, and plums. With about an hour of air, the aromas become much more subtle with notes of black cherries and decomposing leaves. The palate is less interesting, however, with tart notes of pomegranate, rosemary, and a washed out midpalate of minerals and wet stones. Slightly bitter on the finish. Works well with food but IMO it's time to drink up as I doubt this will get any better. 86-87 points. |

12/15/2009 - Vino Me wrote: 88 pointsOpened by Anwar and Trigirl last weekend. This was opened after a 2005 Arcadian Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir which I liked slightly more. This was the fuller of the 2 wines. Made in a upfront California style which is not my preferred Pinot style. I found the profile rather unPinotlike. Notes of charcoal, berry and cola with some oak on the finish. 88 points. |

Touch of heat, forest floor, vanilla and brown spice on the nose. The palate, a mix of cranberry and sappy berry, with a supple core and nice broad palate. There is some zing left here but the wine has some sweet notes to it so I would offer to drink now, enjoy some of the remaining acidity and red fruits. |

7/30/2008 - 5laton wrote: 80 pointsNose of ripe black cherry syrup, strawberry jam, spice, cola, some well integrated sweet oak, cocoa, plus a rather subtle high-toned foresty note (Tom thought this might be from some small percentage of stems). Slick, sweet black cherry cola on the palate, some sensation of heat on the back palate. Quite concentrated with plump, sweet cherry-cola, but it's flabby and lacks sufficient structure for all this fruit. Finishes with vanilla and just a bit of drying wood tannin. As it warms in the glass the nose becomes slightly volatile; much better at below room temperature. Wouldn't put my bets on this as an ager. Fake cork (black neocork). |

Lush and smooth in the mouth, with loads of juicy black cherry fruit supported by a touch of spice and excellent acidity. No heat on the back end, just a smooth texture and this irrepressible juicy, fresh fruit quality that is so attractive. |

Not quite down to earth but finishes with a beautiful linger and tang on the tongue. Hanging onto the SV PN one more year and syrahs a bit longer than that. Excellent stuff! |

I have experienced several oxidized wines finished with a neocork (Lorings and AP Vin's) and it seemed this was on the road to an early death. I will put my remaining bottles on the 'on deck circle' to see if they fair any better. I will not buy neocorked wines any more. |
